I'm looking at the app on ios so ymmv but... Before you select edit, below the distance, time etc stats, there is a "With someone who didn't record?" "Add friend" button sweet, thanks! Teddy the Griff is now on strava! Please add him to the Manatees group. I've tried to invite him but no joy. https://www.strava.com/clubs/manatees ok, sent the request to join. I don’t know how active he’ll be out of the mountains, since running on pavement is still a no no at his age, but he seems to be a numbers geek, so maybe he’ll start tracking his long walks. |

Member 836 North Augusta, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Assioma pedals arrived today. Got them charged, activated, calibrated & ready to go. Coach changed my schedule this week so I could enjoy an FTP test on Friday. Good times ahead! What data fields do those occupy who train with power use? Right now I have time, 3 second power, cadence, distance & speed avg per lap |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Doe to traffic, pollution, work hours, and asthma (allergic to dust and smoke outside), I train almost entirely indoors here except for the last 2 or 3 rides before a race (and even part of those is usually indoors), so just power (I think 3 second), cadence, time, and heart rate. Add distance and speed for training on the road. For racing: power, cadence, distance, speed, and time. (I can't stand racing with a HR strap.) |

I'm hoping I can beat that now that I'm older and wiser. Feels good to have something to look forward to so figure I share with the rest of you who I'm sure can relate. |

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Originally posted by amd723 Originally posted by jmkizer I hope that everyone had a nice weekend! I was a slacker and while I typed up the Racing Manatees list, I failed to post it :-( I hope that Ann-Marie, Dave, and Jen all had good races! April 7-8 P.S. I will try to do better this week, Markus! Thanks! I had a good race. I planned on running the HM, but since I’ve been dealing with patella tendinitis for 3 ish weeks I dropped down to the 5k. The good news is I had no issue with my knee - even during all the hiking and hilly running we did pre and post race. The bad news is, I definitely lost some run fitness in 3 weeks. The other good news is I won my age group. Small races are great!
Hope Dave and Jen had fun races too! Nice work! Glad no knee issues |

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED I got a nice surprise this morning. Some of you may remember me posting last year about a guy in my tri community who was hit while riding and was initially in pretty bad shape. I saw him this morning at the pool. He is doing really well. Had a surgery on his ankle about 8 weeks ago, so hobbling a bit there, but had a goal of swimming 30 min this morning and did it. It was so great to see him and chat a bit in the hot tub. |

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED (Start Proof of Life Post) Hey all. Been away a while and mostly an occasional stalk and following podsters on FB and Strava and such... Been just running the last few months (noticed I went to 100% run on TP "90 day completed" pie chart this morning - an eye opener!). Been having fun, though - running and light weights agree with me, but I'm starting to miss the saddle/pool. Super busy at work, so I might just keep with this plan for a bit, as I tend to go a bit deep when I get into tri mode and need to focus for the next 6 months or so... One big change for the McManus clan on the horizon - our oldest will be heading off to college end of the summer, and he'll be 1453nm away, as the crow (or his dad) flies! That's a haul, and we're all trying to wrap our heads around what it'll be like with just the four of us and the dogs at home. I suspect it'll mean a new puppy to help fill the quiet spots in. Anywho, just wanted to say hey back on BT to those who I don't see on FB/Strava/Insta/Snap/etc... So, HEY! Matt (End Proof of Life Post) |

Member 667 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED So a week ago today my husband was walking out of his classroom with his phone in at his ear while I was about to walk into my room. The look on his face was the look something bad happened. His brother was on the phone to let us know that his son had been killed in a plane crash at Embry-Riddle. Zach was on his final test flight before graduation next month. Shortly after take-off, one of the wings of the plane fell off and the plane crashed, killing Zach and the FAA examiner on board instantly. To give us another punch in the stomach, our 11-year-old Golden, Jack, was at the vet getting his teeth cleaned. About an hour or so of finding out about Zach, the vet called to tell us Jack has cancer. It's a Mast cell cancer, not osteosarcoma like Dug has. DH takes Jack to the oncologist on Monday to find out what we can do for Jack. He is in no pain that we can tell, but he is the most hyper 11 year-old puppy in the world so it's hard to see what he really feels. The past week has been very chaotic. We're actually all doing better because we know Zach was doing what he loved. We were told that when the wing fell off the G forces probably caused the two to become unconscious immediately so they have no idea what happened. I feel so bad for the FAA examiner's family - he leaves a wife with two young boys under the age of 4. I also worry about my brother-in-law, Zach's father. He is still planning on doing IM Boulder in June. However, even before the accident his training has been interrupted by travel for work and illness. I hope he can race, because that's what Zach would have wanted, but we don't want him to race for the wrong reasons, if that makes sense. Thank you to all who have reached out the past week. I feel your thoughts, prayers, and strength. It means a lot. |
