Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Asalzwed - 2013-04-15 6:23 PMOn a light note, I ran the last mile faster than I probably would have because the woman in front of my crapped her pants. I saw it first hand. I guess I hope she just got sick and couldn't make it to a porta potty rather than making the conscience decision to do that. Either way you should thank her for the motivation to finish faster |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Muskrat37 - 2013-04-15 6:36 PM If it has a " plug" it can be pulled. Lots of technology that would allow for a lot of Big Brother type of activity, thankfully we have a Constitution and other laws that protect us from that under most circumstances. Asalzwed - 2013-04-15 4:20 PM Muskrat37 - 2013-04-15 6:17 PM its because they think they were detonating via cell. We have service now.Is anyone else a little creeped out by "They shut down cell service?" I didn't know they could just blanket an area and shut down the cell service in that area only... Pretty Powerful that "they" can do that. I figured it had something to do with that.. Just another one of those things that "they" can do. For the right reasons - it's a good thing... for the wrong reasons - could be a very powerful weapon. I'm not a conspiracy theorists.. just commenting on the potential power of that ability. Makes you wonder what else "they" can do. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED cdban66 - 2013-04-15 6:13 PM Our community is tight and even people on the "outside" understand. I had friends checking up on me and Adrienne when they heard what happened. Even one said, "the running community is so tight. This hits many people hard."Asalzwed - 2013-04-15 6:53 PM Yeah, I've gotten hundreds of emails texts and Facebook messages. Service has been in and out. I'm staying pretty close to the finish. Keep hearing sirens and get a sinking feeling.Drinking beer to stay warm.... One of the things I found amazing about today was the outpouring from people. I got a call from my wife this afternoon asking if you were OK the moment that she saw something going on. Both of my daughters called to see if "Dad's runner friends" were OK. My sister texted to see if anyone I knew was affected, and she is at a conference in Vegas. Watching on TV, I see regular folks in regular clothes helping one another, helping complete strangers. I do not hide from the reality of the world we live in, but I choose to see the outpouring and kindness in the face of challenges. It is part of what gives me hope. I am so glad you are physically OK. I pray that all of you and yours get home soon and safely. {{{HUGS}}} |

Extreme Veteran 536 | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I'm so horrified by what happened today. Such senselessness, in my city. I can't believe how many people were hurt and that a little boy lost his life. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was touched by that terrible scene. I am safe and sound but have had people checking on me all day. Everyone I know of who was there is safe, I believe.

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED cdban66 - 2013-04-15 10:41 AM I'm certainly vague on purpose. This, while a big race, was just meant to be a little check in. My eyes have been ahead and beyond for a while now. Boston is a tough tough course so it's a little silly to try and predict an exact time. I had a ballpark in mind and was pretty close, we'll give poopy pants credit for exceeding expectations. The hills did wipe me out a little, and as you saw from the splits slowed the pace. bcraht - 2013-04-15 11:37 AM cdban66 - 2013-04-15 8:37 AM bcraht - 2013-04-15 11:34 AM Did she have a goal time? What is her PR? She seems to be guarded about giving numbers for time. I'm sure she has one, but I haven't seen it. I kinda thought that. We don't really know her do we? I think part of it is that she really is still figuring out what her potential is. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I was so relieved to here that all manatees and BT-ers are okay. I am still kind of in shock by it--going from depressed about the state of mind of people who do that, to mad that it happens. Its just unbelievable. What does impress me is that people who run/do tris are making sure that others are okay--such as people on this site--That is truly inspiring.... |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE I know it must seem a difficult day to have a birthday, or celebrate, but even more so it has become a day to celebrate LIFE and those who choose to live well, care for life, and care for our world and the living beings in it. Of that, you are the epitome. So happy birthday indeed. |

Yes, so many people have asked me about you and others I know ... a running event is a celebration that every human in the world, rich or poor, can relate to. It's part of the essence of who we are as humans. So much love going out to you and especially those most affected, from all over the world. Even here in Indonesia folks are wearing running shirts today. My sister went to BU and I spent my sweet sixteen summer there with her. She lived right on the course, close to the finish--used to watch it every year and cheer the runners. She has lots of photos from those years. Many fond memories of Beantown and many friends there, of course, everyone and their uncle there for the marathon too. She cried and cried when I told her this morning, and she asked about you, too. |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I usually do a lot of inner thinking and processing before I comment on the things like today, so I've been pretty quiet the last 10ish hours. As a mother who is most often a spectator with my kids, Boston shook me. Those bombs were for the families and friends cheering on the accomplishment of everyone passing by. That....grrrr! But tonight I can do nothing about Boston. I hugged and cuddled my kids, and I will kiss and cuddle DH. And I will remind myself and all of you what joy and innocence looks like at a race (taken yesterday)...
