uh, Scott, that's playing dirty and I think you picked the one Wiener you don't want to mess with.  Good luck with that one and I'll help you find your a$$ after she gets done kicking it all over transition this weekend.

[OK.  I believe I've been the intended victim of a heinous plot by the Posse to sabatoge my taper..such as it's been...

FIRST:  Yesterday evening I was getting ready to do an EASY, SHORT training ride with a member of the enemy team -heh she said "member"-my husband, MarkK.  Conversation as follows:

Mark:  "Did you check your tires yet"  Me:  "no, not yet"  Mark: "I'll do it". ( Notice the quickness with which the offer to help was made.)  I walk into the room where the bikes are kept just as he removes the pump from the stem of the rear tire.  As I reach for my shoes we all hear BANG! and the tire that he just had replaced by our local tri shop while I was out of town blew. I don't know about you all but I smell a conspiracy...I think perhaps he paid off our wrench, and I will be watching our bank accounts for large sums of outgoing money.

THEN: We're out riding and I say "we're at 15 minutes, we need to turn around"  Mark: "Let's go just a little longer".  Clearly this was an attempt to tire me out and sabatoge my weak attempt at tapering.  Obviously he rested while I was gone and faked his logs, so that he has some extra energy at this point.  Perhaps it was a mind game, tempting me to kick his butt on the bike as usual  try to wear him out while sabatoging my own taper.

I am happy to report that my tire changing skills and my stubborn refusal to be tempted served me well....

Posse Whipping Likely

Ok, for anyone who wants to try to find everyone else I'll try to help on Sat but I won't be up there until around two.  Here's what I posted in the WI forum.

 I'll post this here and in the Challenge thread but if anyone wants to get ahold of me my cell is 847-774-3772 and I'll be there around 1-2pm on Sat.  Checking in and and hopefully making the 3pm race talk.  Then hanging around until time for dinner.

You can call me anytime, day or night.  I sleep with it clipped to my ear, on vibrate (so as not to disturb my wife).  It can be annoying but sometimes Torbjorn (I call him Torry) Faris or Jessi needs to call for some advice and I promised them I'd always be available. 

It is funny though, I had to change my number after Kona last year because this psychotic German kept calling me in the middle of the night yelling, "I'VE GOT NO POWA!".

Why would you want an ugly hat like that? I found it on the side of the street and just put it on becuase my head was cold.

After I warmed up, I promptly discarded it like the garbage it was!

As the other team "leader" I feel compelled to respond to Scott's most elegant and moving motivational quote with one of my own.  I too am looking forward to this weekend as much for the opportunity to meet you all and share the experience as for the running of the race itself.  It has been a joy this week to get to know all of you, on both teams, and I hope you feel the same.

That being said I would like to quote one of my favorite movies about sports.  It is a football movie (like Scott's) however I feel that certain motivational concepts and ideals transcend the boundaries of individual sports and speak to the fundamental truths of any athletic endeavor.  Thus, from The Replacements, the immortal words of Edward O'Neill:

"I've seen monkey sh!t-fights at the zoo that were more organized than this."

Let's have a blast on Sunday!  That course doesn't stand a chance!

Since we're all about the motivation right now, I am reminded that's its not always what the clock says at the end of the day by this little gem...
