I'm going to be out swimming around 8/8:30 as well.

Made it into Tempe tonight as well.  Might go out for a morning swim, then moving hotels and off to registration!

Everyone enjoy the lead up, the training is done, now it's just a couple rest days and then the big event!

Yea, how quickly did this race sell out last year? Any help would be great as we are registering my wife and need to know if we have to make arrangement with work to be by the computer at registration time Monday or if we can wait until getting home (in truck or on jobsites most of day rather than in front of computer unfortunately, or not). I know it can change from year to year but I know some races sell out immediately and some like IMKY take longer. Thanks!

fenway - 2009-11-19 10:25 AM Hi, all- some quick observations from the Gatorade swim this AM, for what it's worth:  2. However, I think the temp did have some effect- I was a little dizzy (nothing terrible, just more so than usual) when I got out of the water, probably from cool water in the ears in addition to the typical horizontal / vertical transition.. for that reason, and because they don't seem to quite go down far enough into the water, be really careful on the stairs (as others have said)..

If you get a pair of ear plugs you will not be dizzy anymore.    The dizziness is because the cold water gets into your ears,  I did that last year in Cour dAlene and that fixed the problem..

good luck..

As per the Athlete Information given to us in our race packages:
NO helmets or shoe's on the bike in Transition when you drop it off. It says shoe's and helmets go into the gear bag. Different from the main Athlete Guide.

bryancd - 2009-11-19 1:09 PM Just got back from registration/packet pick up. Very smooth, but I was way towards the front of the line. Stopped into the IM store to get a few things as they sell out of the best stuff early in my size, so get in as soon as you arrive for merchandise.

With regard to the IM store.  Went around noon yesterday and apparently the largest womens size they have in anything that specifically says IMAZ is a medium.  Im a large.  I was ridiculously bummed by this.

If we do the athlete registration Saturday do we have to pay?  For some reason I thought we could wait for a month or so.  Thanks!

To register for next year you pay right then and they give you a link to finish the registration process about a month later.  Of course they want the money up front!

I'm not sure about this.  I'm getting pretty old so my memory could easily be failing me but I thought that last year when I registered for this year that they just gave me the link with my access code which I had quite a while to either use it and register or lose me spot.  I don't think I paid until I actually registered.  Of course things were a little bit different last year because I was registering after the April race for the fall 09 race.

The onsite registration process changed last year starting with the IMFL 2009 sign ups (Nov 2008) . You now have to pay onsite to register, and as mentioned you get a link to finish the registration at a later date.

To my knowledge the process changed becuase under the old system lots of people were picking up the vouchers and then not registering so they were having a hard time with accurate numbers when a race actually sells out.

Just got back from the Gatorade Swim practice. I was the first one in the water! Michael Lovato was there on the steps and told me to get in there, so I did. I was all alone swimming down the lake, evryone was way behind me. It was the most relaxing 15min I have ever had in TTL. I felt so good, the water was perfect, the sun was shinning down into the water. I turned around about the haflway point and moved over to the bouy line for the swim back. had to navigate around a few folks. Swam about 30 min total. Feet were getting cold and will be cold on Sunday morning when I get out, hands also, but otherwise the water was REALLY nice. My head and body felt nice and warm.

Got into town late last night!  The lake looked pretty inviting today even though the bridge looked reallllly far away.   Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a 10 minute swim, 30 minute bike, and a 10 minute run, then after those I can pack my gear bags and prep my mind.  It's going to be a good Sunday.

Rode my bike, the road is pretty nice and smooth..    Swam early in the morning and it felt better than yesterday..    The bike shop ran out of CO2 cartidrages,  (threaded)  so I went to a local bike store..  They were the nicest people,  had everything I needed and at half price than at the IM Village.   I bought a hot and a couple of water battles..

Looking forward to tomorrow...  I'll be relaxing hydrating and taking it easy..  yay..

Good luck everyone..

Going out for the practice swim tommorow morning again, just a short one. Good to get acclimated to the wet suit again.

Should be at the BT get-together around 12:30 or so with our kids and dropping off the BT bracelets. Not staying long as we've got some other family stuff as well as my wife is doing a long training run (for Vegas Marathon).  Going to get the bike and gear checked in beforehand so I don't have to worry about that.

Dinner / Pre-race meeting was good. Everyone enjoy Ed's talk (77 year old)? He's going strong! He didn't want to give the microphone back to Mike did he I hope to be in such good spirits and health when I'm his age.

I had a similar experience.  I have always wanted an IMAZ bike jersey when I finally do IMAZ.  So I walk up and they have aqua ones and orange ones. I don't do aqua, so I headed for the orange ones.  Not 1 large. So then I go to the mens. Not 1 small. I was very irritated so I asked a worker about it. We tried on the Mens Medium but it was huge. Then he asked if I tried the woman's medium. I said no...I just assumed it would not fit. Well, I tried it on and what do you know? It fit perfectly.  BUT with that said...another t-shirt I got that was cut for woman (read:runs small) I bought an XL because I don't like them tight and clingy, and it fit perfectly as well.

I got a white cap too! Wonder if it's because of the  Janus Charity challenge? That's why I also got a low number

There's a picture of me on page 7 of the program bodymarking a 2009 athlete.

I hadn't noticed, but Mrs. Sapper (Wife Unit) did.

My hair is not so neat and tidy anymore.

Hi,

Late to the party! Have a good race everyone, weather is lookng spot on!

1. Do we need to bring our SN bags down today/\?

No, bring them tomorrow morning.

2. Do we get our morning clothes bag back at the end?  I was hoping to put clothes in there and change into the same ones after IMAZ.  My family is supposed to see me off, but I can't rely on them being on time...

Yes, that is the purpose. They will be stacked up where you left them in semi-organized fashion.

Cheers, Keith
