Regular 68 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Been using TP to track my workouts all season. Going to try and use both to track from here on out. Glad to see I'm not the only one getting nervous about the race. I feel like my swim and bike are where they need to be. The run on the other is going to be interesting. Stay safe out there. Hearing too many stories out there of runners and bikers getting run off the road by a-hole drivers. And Jennifer, welcome back home and thanks for all that you do! |

Regular 75 Liverpool, England | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread August was going OK until last week when I had a bit of a meltdown! Life got in the way of training and I lost my focus. Plus I'd just spent quite a bit of money on a new TT bike and I was starting to wonder when and where I was going to ride it as our roads here in the UK are awful. They are all cut up and just full of potholes. Anyway, I lost around 4 days training to this loss in focus. I'm now pleased to say that I am over it and my mind is fully back to where it should be...focusing on a certain date in early November!! Know that this was all part of the journey, but it still didn't help at the time!! I'm also now at peace with my new bike. Just took it out for 2 hours this morning and it flew! Getting used to the position and the handling of it, so am well happy that I spent the money on it. I got a Scott Plasma 10 btw Have got a training week planned for the end of September. Flying out to California to train with Douglas, so hopefully will get in lots of long rides, runs and swims. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully IM Canada will be sold out by then otherwise I may be talked into doing that one!! Here's my totals for the last 2 months. Would have liked to have got in more time/miles on the bike, but hopefully that will happen over the next 2 months. I have a century ride on Sunday, so that will be a good indicator of where I'm at with the bike.

35 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Alright, I may as well step up. I have been lurking in the shadows for 10 months or so. Am from GA and this will be my first IM. Training is going well mostly without injury-left knee is a little sore from increase in long run distance and volume. Excited about the race but having some motivational issues from work, life and training not meshing-so I am challenged at seeing everyone's volume and reading comments. Good luck with training and see you in 9 weeks or so. Denny |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread UnPlanned Rest Day today for me. I suppose when you push on your limits and train out to the edge of what you can do - you go over that edge sometimes. Looking forward to some long work this weekend, although I've got to travel for business. I'll be working in the field in the middle of nowhere. So, I'll take the bike, run shoes and wetsuit. I'll not be too far from my favorite lake, so I may get a 2.5 mile OWS in there somewhere. Hope everyone has fun this weekend. Be careful out there. |

Would it benifit me to come down this year to sign up, or will I still be able to sign up online? Last year it was online for a few hours. If you are online and signed into active right at 12 pm Central time, you should be able to get in if spots go online. I had no problem getting in last year and the year before I was very close to registering. (had everything filled out and my finger was hovering over the submit button for a couple of minutes. |

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Looks like I'll be taking a little bit of time off from training for a while. I was finishing up the bike leg of a sprint triathlon today when I hit a wet painted speed bump. The bike is okay. I took the brunt of the fall on my left side. Lots of road rash and bruises. My left forearm is ripped open but it is too far apart for stitches. I won't be down on the aero bars for a few days. I'm lucky it wasn't worse. It could have been a broken collar bone or an arm. |

Expert 1360 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I had my first real test in training yesterday. My toughest workout so far - 120 km bike ride and 10 km run. I started early in the morning and the air temp was in the low 50s with VERY strong wind. I haven't had a chance to get cold weather cycling clothes (got them today) so I was underdressed and got very cold. I screwed up my nutrition (note, greek pitas - not a good idea). got a tummy ache and felt sick when I had the tail wind. Finally started feeling better (if a little under nurished) on the last 20 km, which was straight into 25 mph sustained winds with gusts of 40 mph. Ugh. I had to stand in hot water for 10 minutes for my feet to defrost (by the time I had finished up the bike, the temps were still in the 50s). The hardest thing I have ever had to do was getting back out there for the run. Today I was expecting my run to be crap after yesterday, but it was WONDERFUL . How did everyone elses weekends go? (I know there is still a day, but I have mondays as rest days ) |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I had a good week: S: 7225.00 Yd 3h 20m 30s B: 171.39 Mi 11h 09m 49s R: 11.28 Mi 2h 28m 01s I had a fun social BT ride on Martha's Vineyard along with another long ride. Bike fit issues I'm still struggling with. My fit a couple weeks ago my fitter lowered my front end by 4.5 cm which wasn't the goal and it gave me neck/shoulder issues after about 2.5 hours on the bike. He flipped the stem late this week over so I'll see how it works on Tuesday's 5 hour ride. Not happy with how he made big changes from my normal position without discussing it with me. I've worked with him since '06 and had him fit me on all my bikes. My run still is slow for me but I'm building volume and hope it helps with durability. I did long ows today which I hope to continue to do as long as water temps allow. This upcoming week I have 5 runs, 4 bikes and 3 swims...and 19.25 hours of training on my plan. It's easier for me to train once the kids go back to school. |

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I have been following this thread since the 70.3 in Galveston, and I have to tell you guys you are all inspirations to those of us following behind you. I am also one who will be signing up for IMFL 2011. I will be there to catch a number of you at the finish line this year. I can appreciate all the training "adventures" you are going through - the bike spills (Longhorn), the nutrition issues, the surgeries (KathyG) and the other pains and pleasures. I look forward to meeting more of you in November... and get out of my way at the registration table! Thanks for all the helpful insights you have had, and the support in the coming 14 months. |
