Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! rrrunner - 2013-01-12 10:06 AMStarted my run this morning at -4 windchill. Figured if everyone else in here can HTFU I certainly can too! :-) It wasn't too bad but it was a slow go. I hate wearing a Balaklava. I can't breathe with it on so I had it around my chin then walked when I needed to warm up my face. Way to...freeze! Ummm...no no. I mean Way To Go! 1/4" of ice on dogs' water this morning. It's officially cold in AZ! I'm letting it warm up a bit before I go for my ride. Started my morning with some Wii boxing for cardio...my 5 y/o KOd me twice. Ha! |

I'm gearing up for a ride before my Niners play tonight. I'm getting tingly just thinking about it...the game, not the ride. LolJo, glad the BBQ was tolerable and that the Macca OWS was good. Women: Don't Overlook Men's Gear & Clothing for Triathlon Training I thought that some of their points were interesting, especially regarding shorts -- "depending on leg length and preference this may be a huge benefit: it provides greater compression, does not cut circulation in the middle of the quad and hamstring muscle, and decreases chaffing." |

Sorry! rrrunner - 2013-01-12 7:03 PM There was an hour show on tv covering Venice too I was hoping for more amateur coverage. However the Care 2 Tri coverage was awesome. A really neat organization here in the area. ETA: I found the age group video but I didn't find Ann-Marie in it. Edited by cdban66 2013-01-12 6:57 PM |

Sorry! jmkizer - 2013-01-13 8:19 AM Thanks Jayne.Ladies, I just read an interesting article in a local tri magazine. Women: Don't Overlook Men's Gear & Clothing for Triathlon Training I thought that some of their points were interesting, especially regarding shorts -- "depending on leg length and preference this may be a huge benefit: it provides greater compression, does not cut circulation in the middle of the quad and hamstring muscle, and decreases chaffing." I found that a company called Skirts Sports that do an 8" women's tri short that I have found very comfortable (I have only done supa sprints though). They have worn really well and are just over 12 months old been a bit hammered as they are my only pair. I have just noticed that they feel a bit loose, not sure if this is due to wear or because I have lost some weight. They also do longer tri tops and have finally added a women's top to their range that does not have a cross back or a shelf bra in it so you can wear a sports bra under it if you need to. (You guys really wanted this information didn't you) Their web address is: www.skirtsports.com they also have an Australian site. (I hope I haven't broken a site rule by posting their website.) |

If they're smaller than 100kB, you can just attach them (tick the Attach a file after posting box below your message before clicking Submit). If they're bigger, they need to exist (be uploaded) on the Internet first (either on FB or another hosting site for pics--BT has Albums you can use). Then you need to get the pic's URL (right click on the pic, select View Image Info, CTRL C the pic's Web address). In the body of a message/post here, click on the pic of the tree (between the anchor and the brush below Font family above the message). Then CTRL V the pic's URL and click Insert. Then carry on as normal. |

Yes, that' s me a few years ago. This is me as of 6 months ago...... Which is me rather drunk at a wedding, with my beer belly hanging over my jeans. This photo, taken by someone else, was the wake up call for me to do something about the weight I had gained blindly over the last ten years. I put the pic of me in the Army up as my inspiration to keep on training to one day get back to that weight. 28 lb lost, 21 lb to go. |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! jmkizer - 2013-01-13 8:19 AM Ladies, I just read an interesting article in a local tri magazine. Women: Don't Overlook Men's Gear & Clothing for Triathlon Training I thought that some of their points were interesting, especially regarding shorts -- "depending on leg length and preference this may be a huge benefit: it provides greater compression, does not cut circulation in the middle of the quad and hamstring muscle, and decreases chaffing." Great link! I've actually always worn men's sport clothes ... it's odd because I have a VERY typical female shape, but somehow the men's stuff fits me better. It's easier to find men's stuff on discount because there's just a lot more of it out there (styles, including unisex, and volume). Men's tri-shorts also tend to have a lower waistline on the shorts. As for tri-tops, I have such wide hips and narrow waist that a tri-top is going to ride up on me regardless of whether it's men's or women's. However, as men's tri-tops tend to be cut somewhat shorter than women's, they sit nicely ON (just above) my hips instead of riding up. As for chamois cuts, this is what I've noticed ... women's are wider. HOWEVER, most tri-short chamoix (men's or women's) are cut sufficiently narrowly that the seam nicely saws the part right where the leg joins the crotch. But for distance pads, and for cycling-short (not tri-short) pads, they're wide enough in both men's and women's that it doesn't matter. The seam is OUTSIDE of my crotch area and for that, I am most grateful. |
