funny I am doing the same thing as well. They asked and seeing it was snowing again today with no sign of warm weather I said yes.
I am praying for warm weather. I just ordered my new ISM seat. My old one is done. I am hoping the arrival of the seat, New bike shoes and new Bike chain will bring on some spring weather. |

Why don't you all come and do the HIM at Steelhead on August 4th. You want to swim in Lake Michigan, don't you? I've heard they don't usually swim at the Steelhead 69.1 ...... It's about 50/50. The lake was like glass last year. Hoping it's like that this year too. |

Who's racing? Let's keep the conversation about mental fortitude going and also add in some talk about speed work. When do you recommend speed work? What kind of speed work to you do? When do you avoid it? Me! Going to see Kim and Linda in SF and do the Oakland marathon before a food/wine feast begins. Taking the man with me too! Good luck. What are your goals for the race? |

My first ever triathlon wetsuit arrived yesterday, I've been ocean swimming for years but never been in an event that allowed them before! I tried it on last night and it definitely feels close fitting but when I did some freestyle movements I was amazed at the lack of resistance, I've had to swim back to shore when I've lost my board surfing and those wetsuits really restrict your swimming. Anyway, I ended up buying a HUUB and its VERY cool! |

When do you avoid it? No racing here. No speed work either. I need to pick up a battery for my HR monitor, but haven't really been in a hurry to do so. My last two runs I have just gone out and run without worrying about HR or zones. My pace has been faster than usual and I've really enjoyed both runs. My 30-week IM plan starts in about 2.5 weeks, so I'll be back to Z2 runs soon enough. In the meantime, I'm just enjoying running. Good luck to the chickies running on the left coast and anyone else racing this weekend. |

No racing here. Good luck to Suzy, Kim, Linda and Andy!! I think the only speed work I end up doing is in the actual races themselves. I really do want to add something more structured into my run and bike but seems like every time I try, something gives. Time to try baby steps. My most recent hurt locker experience was on Wednesday when I spent 3.5 hours on the trainer - a new record for me. It was tough mentally to keep going that long even though my pace was only mid Z2 and there were times when my back was insisting that I give up. |

The first is a dualathon 2 mile run 10 mile ride and a 2 mile run. (not the course for the dualathon in April). The second is the 24 mile bike and 6 mile run same as the course as the olympic in May. I am trying to decide wich one I should do? There will be other training for the olympic. Thanks for the input. |

If it were me, I would do the du. My reasoning, gives you transition practice and gives you a good bike/run brick. IMO, there is no real reason to run a 6m brick this soon or ever for an Oly. |

Champion 5522 Frisco, TX | Subject: RE: Swbkrun mentor group - Closed good luck to our runners tomorrow! Weather got in the way today.... 5 min into the swim, they put us on lightening delay. 30 minutes later, they canceled the swim portion, but we were still on rain delay. An hour later they scrapped the bike due to standing water on the course (multiple u-turns on the course and they thought it would be unsafe). We ended up doing a 5k a half hour after that... Good news is that I ran it in 27:39 only 30sec slower than my fastest 5k ever back before I injured myself a year and half ago! Final kick was at 6:20/mi pace..... |
