Just discovered that CDA uses a TT swim start now (didn't in 2009).  Not sure what to think about it.

So you got a whole year to work on your swim.

The swim is just about all I have left........

My fastest IM bike was 5:29 2010 Lack Placid

My run......well lets just say a lot of people pass me.

All I can say is Mont-Tremblant…

I did throw down a 2:38 bike at Mont-Tremblant 70.3 in 2013, so it can be a fair race Jim…..

Okay, I need to vent/whine just a little bit....

I'm really frustrated with WTC / 70.3 WC and their lack of communication to the point where I'm seriously considering bailing on this race, despite the effort I've put in and the money I've spent.  I just found out the other day that check-in and packet pick-up is Thursday and Friday (only till 4pm on Friday), and nothing on Saturday, even though the race is on Sunday.  My flight gets into Ottawa at 2pm on Friday, so there's literally no way I can get my checked luggage (bike), pick up a rental car, and drive to Mont Termblant before packet pick-up ends at 4pm.

I emailed them asking if there's anything that can be done....haven't heard back.  Messaged them on fb, and received a message to "be patient and they'll get back to me" -- why they can't just respond via fb, where they're obviously monitoring their messages, is beyond me.

For a race that I'm basically going to be BOP (maybe DFL?), I don't think I can justify the costs to change flights and get a hotel for an extra night (going to be running me on the order of $700).  Also, every bit of my training feels terrible these days....I like to think it's the 100+ temps we've been having, but I just can't even fathom feeling like anything other than garbage.

So yeah, this is whiney and very "woe is me"....but I'm just frustrated and don't know what to do

Nicole, I hope they can work something out for you.  Surely you won't be the only one in that situation and they can come up with something.

I'm not a fan of them either but CdA's swim without it was an absolute brawl.

Arend, you know you want to race and beat your last time.

Just think how much better you'll do.

Give me 4 mins on the swim and I'll race you there.....  Lets drag Marc into this for a rematch at a real endurance distance.....

3 swims so far this week, about 3,000 each. Think one of them *might* have gotten up to 1,000 total free in the workout.

Thanks, everyone!  The thing that's most irritating about this is the lack of communication -- I'd just like to know if they will hold the packet, let someone else pick it up for me (thanks for the offer, Marc!), or if they're going to tell me tough shite.

Nicole, have you tried PM'ing sportstats on ST?  He is the RD or assistant RD (something like that) for the race and may be able to get you a better answer?

I haven't -- thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a shot.

Nicole, hope you get this figured out in the next couple of days so you don't have to deal with the extra stress.

Today was the conclusion of my biggest week in the last 2 years.  Looking at the schedule for the next two weeks things really start to drop off, although I still have a big run on Wednesday.  I was up North this weekend and drove a little further on Saturday morning to ride the Muskoka course - I obviously wasn't the only one who had that plan as there were a lot of Triathletes in the parking lot coming and going when I arrived and when I came back from my ride.  2 years and you start to forget how difficult a ride can be, but I got a good reminder yesterday.  That said the ride went well, and I hit the targeted power numbers - but wished I had that 28 for the last couple of climbs.  Not sure that I'm going to get the LBS to muck around with the bike just 2 weeks before the race, as I've had issues before after doing that and I'd rather not give myself something else to worry or stress about.

I'm on a no running week this week with the aim of getting in to see a physio....my ankles are being a pain literally. Just swimming, biking and yoga/stretching to try and loosen things up. Running is just not getting better. :/

On the plus side I'm back in Prince George. Loaded up the fridge and freezer and got things set up for work. No more driving around Canada for awhile.
