Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TrevorC - 2009-12-31 9:18 AM how can you change you avatar? that was the fastest avatar I've ever seen!!! Ahhh, ok, I'll switch it back for you. I've got to change it for the new year though! I'll try to find something else... And just so this isn't a completely useless post, I've uploaded a swim e-book here from Endurance Nation on to my website. It's got some videos, drills, swim thoughts, etc. They had it free for a limited time from the site, but now charge $19 for it with a few new content additions and a t-shirt, so I don't feel bad re-distributing it here. It's pretty sizable, so give it a few seconds to download. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My totals are a bit of a mess because I only started logging in April 2009 and then I was off for a few months with my broken ankle. But 2009 was an awesome year for me physically (other than the injury) and I swam/biked/ran farther than ever before. Looking forward to doing even more in 2010! Happy New Year, all. ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Let's see, I officially had my largest biking month ever in December, mostly because I had my lowest running month since I started in 2003. Stress fractures suck. ![]() I knew my running would be down in '09 when I became more of a triathlete and less of marathoner, but two injuries in '09 really killed me. My goal is to be injury free in 2010. I am happy with the progress in swimming and biking. Really no prediction for volume in 2010. I am leaving that all up to my coach to figure out. I have officially consumed the Kool-Aid.

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2010 Goals....so many to choose from others I have seen on here. I am keeping mine simple: 1. Stick to the training plan I am on and those I will do later in the year. 2. Complete 3 Sprint tri's, minimum. 3. Avoid being annoying to those around me by not talking too much about training and tri's and anything related to them. 4. Don't sweat the details, focus on the endpoint, and enjoy the journey. Happy New Year to all! Edited by gdctex 2009-12-31 2:01 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() JHagerman - 2009-12-31 10:51 AM My Totals: December wasn't planned to be low volume/distance, but it does appear to have taken that route... I still hit my running goal for the year. I think my bike goal was 1500, but I*secretly* wanted to hit 2k. I swam more than double my 08 time and distance and I feel better about where I am right now with my swims. So 2010: I don't have a run 'goal' per-say. I'm where I want to be with speed and endurance. SO maybe I'll try to up it towards 600 or more miles. But it's not my focus in 2010. Bike - I want to nail the bike this coming year. I'd love to break the 2k mark with style and increase my overall race avg speeds to 24/25 mph (up from about 16 mph in 2008) Swim - My focus of 2010. These last few months have been great for me in the water. Now I just need to translate to OWS / Racing. The swim has been my limiter for the last 2 years. I would have placed higher in a couple key races this year if I could have taken -3 minutes off of my swim time. My Race goal for 2010 - I'm not sure how to set a specific goal yet for Racine 70.3, but my general goal is to qualify for the IM 70.3 World Championships. Otherwise, I'd like to race the Oly distance for a couple of race, just for fun (with the secret hope of a podium finish). I'm thinking this year will also be my first full marathon.
Holy heck! from 16 mph to 24/25 in 2 years, thats solid. I need more time in the saddle! Good luck with the 70.3, that is a heck of a goal. It sounds like you do the longer races and hopes to podium on the shorter. I have taken the opposite approach by focusing on my sprints for another year and try to podium (sure they are not the huge races, but will be a good start) I am debating doing a 1/3 Iron this year, and if I can get my wife on board, Silverman 1/2 in November would be pretty sweet. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am such a geek, I got let out of work super early today and I am sure everyone else was planning to get their drink on early but what was I excited about? Getting to the gym and having the pool all to myself! It was glorious! I did 1650m continuously to use it as a baseline since I want to get under 35 minutes, did it in 40 min 40 sec so I have my work cut out! Feeling much less guilty about all of the treats and bubbly tonight! Everyone have fun and be safe tonight! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, my totals for Dec are not too bad - gotta turn up the heat in January. I rolled off the couch on March 15th - so I am not too unhappy with the totals. Obviously I have to run more this year!! Six sprints, one Olympic, a couple of swim races, and six bike rallys later... Thanks to my Mentor Group for all the support over the last 8 months! Couldn't have done it without ya'll!!!!

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My goals for 2010: Learn to like running. Complete my first sprint. Slow, steady improvement in all three sports (swim, bike, run). Lose 30 lbs. My numbers. Keep in mind I've only been tri training for about three weeks. I don't have the data available on my total year's biking numbers - around 10-15 miles 5 days a week.
