Oh, bummer!  That's mega-frustrating; I hope they can figure it out.

Just heard back from the timing company, they did get my final time (which is the most important one!)

Last year: 1:42:06

This year: 1:34:18

Feel pretty good about my results, beat my time by a solid margin. I still have plenty of room for improvement for next year!

Is that legal?  I don't think they can do that.  I know we have a mandatory "no vacation without special approval" weeks near the end of January and at the end of Aug/beginning of Sept. to accommodate the new school sessions so there is support available, but that's different.

i don't think it is legal, and i won't be adhering to it.  his exact words were "i strongly recommend you plan vacations for the end of 2014 because in 2015 you might not be able to take that trip"

"Ummm, yeah...I'm gonna need you to come in this weekend."

Does that dude think before he speaks? Did he write the book "How to make enemies and demotivate people?" Or "How to go from good to bad" or maybe "I'm the guy who hides the cheese" (Subtitle - For no apparent reason)

Are you working for the jerk from Office Space?

he absolutely does NOT think before he speaks.  he seems pretty clueless in general.  not a great boss but nowhere near the worst I've had.

That's how moms used to make it.  I guess it's tried and true.  I was wondering if there was a healthier and more exotic way.  Maybe steam it and add some hot sauce or curry or piri piri?  Just thinking out loud.

I made spaghetti squash "pasta" with turkey bolognese the other night.  It was ok.  Not awesome like real pasta, but decent (healthy) alternative.

I have an acorn squash I need to figure out how to prepare the next few days.

Split it in half,,clean out the guts. Tablespoon of butter and tablespoon of brown sugar. Roast at 400 for about 90 min.

That sounds amazing. It's all already roasted... but I could definitely try some with brown sugar.

If it's already roasted, you could puree it with some garlic, cream, and chicken stock, etc.. and make a savory soup.  Just ask Google about acorn squash soup, and adjust recipes for the fact that yours is already roasted.

Now we're talking.  Squash soup.  nom nom nom.

6th year anniversary today.  The traditional gifts are candy/iron.  The modern is wood.  Doesn't the girl get wood on every anniversary?

SO, I could get her a bag of candy (which I would eat) or cast iron cookware (I do all the cooking), or a tree?

Went to The Eagles concert last night - Joe Walsh is the poster child for "drugs are bad, mmmkay?" Holy moly the guy could not talk coherently! I know they don't do any drugs/alcohol anymore and they're all clean, but the effects of years of the hard stuff is EVIDENT. Yikes.

He is from my city though, so that was cool to see.

Ah, nothing quite like waking up to the sound of a vomiting dog at 1am. No worries, he's fine.

    Oh, I feel for ya

It is one of the few sounds that can immediately wake me from a dead sleep.... especially if I happen to be even slightly aware that the dog is on the bed with me.  About 8 years ago, I had one of my pooches vomit on my feet while I was sleeping.... that was quite the nasty experience.

Elegant ambiance, amazing steaks...  excellent happy hour where steaks and select apps are 50% off.  We both goth $50 steaks and side for half off.  nom nom nom.  There spicy muscle appetizer was fantastic.

I'm going to take all my favorite girls there.

So check me if I'm wrong.  BUT, could the occasional fight be a good thing?  It sort of snaps you out of a rut and "reboots" things.  As long as it's not about stupid stuff or violent.  But sort of a venting and realize that they are an actual person and not just a spouse?  If that makes sense.  Maybe once every year/couple years?

I think it get's easy to be complacent and assume everyone has their jobs/rolls and just cruise along.  I think you need the occasional shakeup.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
