I am doing the runners world thanksgiving to new years running challenge anyway, so 30 minutes a day will keep me honest.[QUOT E]jmkizer - 2012-12-01 5:17 PM jogo - 2012-12-01 9:54 AM Its DECEMBER!!! I figured it is about time I start living and enjoying 2012. I am going as healthy as possible for the last month of the year. Anyone up for a year end 30 day challenge? Maybe even just 30 minutes of activity a day. We should send this group out in style with tons of chatter until they archive us. I'm in! A friend of mine is doing this challenge. What is it? She keeps posting on FB about it. On an unrelated note, I have been really struggling with my relationship with food. I break up with food and then take it back like a abusive boyfriend. I want to make nice with food and stop viewing it as an enemy that I can't stay away from. I also have to take off these 15 lbs I've put on since April (and I was overweight to begin with). Where do I start? I am starting crossFit on Tuesday (intro class) so I am hoping that will help. For the record, I have restarted running (although only about 10 miles/week right now). I am going to start training soon for Big Sur marathon again in April but I will be difficult carrying all this extra weight on those hills. Suggestions? |

The Runners World Challenge is to run at least one mile a day between Thanksgiving and New Years. I did it last year and loved it (until I got the a sinus infection a couple days before New Years Day). I also am struggling with food, so I'm not going to be much help. I did sign up for MyFitnessPal so that I can easily track what I eat. I think it's helping, although I haven't been doing it for very long (less than a week), and I haven't yet lost anything. I think crossfit sounds great. Before my semester got completely out of control, I was doing CardioAbs on Wednesday nights. I loved it, so I'm hoping to start back in with it this Wednesday. I guess I'm mostly commiserating. :-) |

It could be worse though--today is also the California International Marathon... I feel for them. That is horrible, glad I'm not running in it! Our weather has been absolutely gorgeous this weekend: upper 50s, low 60s before sunrise and warming to upper 70s ( may hit 80 today), low humidity and a breeze. In fact, right now I'm sitting outside, drinking coffee, dog asleep at my feet and just enjoying the day. Other than the wind, this weather made for a perfect ride this am. |

I mean, for what reason. You know emotional eating, bored eating, etc. I have found that I tend to eat more and poorly on days I don't train. It's like on the days that I train, I don't want to wreck it by eating poorly. I have tried to replace the bored eating by doing something. So if I feel an urge to eat something while I am watching a movie or TV, I do some planks or some leg lifts [kinda seems like punishment ;-)]. Seems to work pretty good. Logging my food helped too, cause if I ate crap it was there staring me in the face... Don't get down on yourself for having a lapse, either, cause that never helps. You can do it!! |

Are you happy with MyFitnessPal? I've thought of using that. Does it seem to help? I like it. I've tried Spark and didn't like it. There was a site I used before that and didn't really like either. MyFitnessPal has an iPhone app, which helps me a lot. I'm not always so good about remembering to log things when I'm away from the computer. Plus, I have friends on MFP, so they will yell at me other places if I don't log for a few days. |

Elite 4435 | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Grrrrr Manatees I thought i was better - sadly not. The journey to work seems to have rattled my ears! Drive, train, tram and escalators have all contributed to upsetting my equilibrium. I'm waiting to settle down then I'm going home, going to the doctor to get some days off. I'm fine at home just sitting and pottering around and walking. I should not be driving. Sleep deprived too, every move in bed in the dark results in a huge headspin. |

The fact that it hasn't gotten better after a few days of meds makes me think it might be. When I had BPPV, I got better with meds, tried to go back to work, and then got worse. Eventually had to have repositioning done. |

It is FAR better than Friday, but I really wanted it to be gone today. And I think it had, except for the driving and train. It's the motion that I'm not controlling that is affecting me. I am fine at work. I think I just need some more rest and need the doctor to sign the form to say I can't travel the hour to get to work. Plus Im a doer, I don't do resting! Yanti style I still wanna keep going so you know putting up Christmas trees and all that kinda stuff still want to do! Not training is killing me. I'm getting on the drainer tonight, clipped in what can go wrong, I'll wear my helmet! |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Jo - I hope that your head starts getting squared away. My wife has some challenges with motion/vertigo, all I can say is OUCH, it sux. I'll keep you in my prayers Jo - The food struggle is a big one for lots of folks. For me, eating is the thing I do when bored, angry, sad, etc. Hunger is only part of the equation. I do better when I think through my food decisions (logging helps as well). I have found that my outlook is important. If I am thinking of food as the fuel for my body, I am good. If I am eating emotionally, well, that is when the crap hits the fan. Good luck with it all. Kirsten - That cactus sure brought a smile to my face. 5 years is a whole lotta time, wow. Congrats on your patience. Felicia - Good luck on the interview, I'm sure you'll wow them! Kate - 40 mph wind gusts sound just killer. I would be hiding inside, without a doubt! I hope everyone is able to enjoy something extra this week. Maybe an extra run or swim. Maybe an extra bit of time taken in the morning to watch the sunrise. Maybe an extra hug or phone call from a loved one. Enjoy whatever you get to do this week. Edited by cdban66 2012-12-03 7:37 AM |
