Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Alabama is more than still alive to get to the NC game. I remember how the Buckeyes lost on November 10th, 2007 to Illinois and still made it to the NC game (as much I try to forget). A LOT can happen between now and next Sunday. Love this time of year. Couldn't care less about Oregon or K-State but won't miss the games today or next week. Not an ND fan either but I am surrounded by in-laws that are ND fanatics. |

That is why the regular season is so interesting to me. mr2tony - 2012-11-12 2:32 PM uclamatt2007 - 2012-11-12 4:25 PM Stanford still has to play Oregon and UCLA still has to play Stanford and USC. If the pundits are correct, Stanford will lose to Oregon and UCLA will lose on of their last two, or both. If that scenario holds, and ND beats USC, then that's probably how it'll go down as no Pac 12 teams will be eligible. Now, if USC beats ND or Stanford beats Oregon or Kansas State loses, then yes, that obviously turns everything on its head. mr2tony - 2012-11-12 2:14 PM TriRSquared - 2012-11-11 1:17 PM Exactly. Their game vs. Boston College was a night game on national TV. And their upcoming barnburner against powerhouse Wake Forest is also the featured game on NBC. WHO CARES!? These are not premier games. I'd rather see the SEC teams beat up on each other. That said, if things go as expected with ND and Nebraska both win out, they'll meet in the Rose Bowl. As a Nebraska fan, that scares me poopless.JoshR - 2012-11-11 9:33 AM TriRSquared - 2012-11-11 6:58 AM If ND somehow wins the NC this year I swear to god I'm gonna lose it... I hate Oregon. I'm also not a huge fan of ND. So now I have to root for KSU beating the snot out of one of them. Optimus Klein anybody? I hate ND for the fact that they 1. refused to join a conf and 2. have been made by the media into this "dynasty" when they have pretty much sucked a football for the last 10+ years. I think the analysts are outthinking themselves putting ND in the Rose Bowl. Even if ND wins out, I think the Rose Bowl will take any eligible Pac-12 team first. I know many analysts are predicting no other team will be eligible, but I think either UCLA or Stanford or even possibly USC will finish the season somewhere between 12-14. Whether this will lead to the best game is debateable, but the Rose Bowl will pit the Big 10 vs the Pac 12 whenever possible. I don't think it will be an issue though because I think the passing game of USC will be too much for a ND team whose defensive weakness is the secondary. They will play tough but give up 28 points, too many for their offense to match. If Stanford loses to Oregon this week, they will have losses to #2 and #25 in the BCS, and a "loss" to #3. Combine that with a win over a UCLA team that will be top 15 with a win over 'SC and likely top 20 regardless and I think they will still be sitting right around the 14 mark. If UCLA beats SC and Stanford and then gets punked by Oregon, I think they will be playing the waiting game to see if they get in. I think the crazy part is that the loser of the SEC championship game will almost certainly drop out of a BCS game. Only in college football are you punished for winning your division. You could see the same thing in the Pac-12 If Alabama's loss knocked them out of the title game, then they would still be sitting in position to go to a BCS bowl, even without a win in the title game. In 2007, did a Kansas team, who never had to play Oklahoma and lost its only tough league game to Missouri, deserve to go to a BCS game over a Missouri team who lost to #4 Oklahoma twice? On top of that, the BCS ranking are really more a suggestion of who gets the BCS game and the millions that come with it. Bowls are not required to take the more highly ranked team. I've seen A&M projected into bowls because they have a potential Heisman guy. The bowl system on the whole is flawed in that bowls pick the teams that will make them the most money rather than the best teams. Any system that doesn't objectively reward teams is inherently flawed in my opinion. |

Schiano has doen an admiral job there (GOD THAT WAS PAINFUL TO WRITE!!!) Maybe Dallas, likley Philly and if they make a splash and go for it, Jacksonville. But ownership wants them to remain bad and move to LA anyway.GomesBolt - 2012-11-15 2:32 PM Oregon vs Stanford KState vs Baylor ND vs Wake Forest I smell an upset. Anyone wanna guess which one?
Well, seeing as how only one of those opponents has a pulse, I would assume that would be the one you are picking. As you saw against Pitt though, the opponent doesn't necessarily need a pulse to beat them.No one loses this week though. Here is how I see it falling out: -No one loses this week -ND goes down to South Central, solidifying the title game -Someone more deserving in the SEC gets bumped out a BCS game for someone more popular -Oregon scores 70 in the NC -Chip Kelly gets the coaching job in Tampa Bay -Oregon fades over the next 2 years, before getting decimated by NCAA sanctions ala Calipari -in 2 years Kelly is back in NCAA, untarnished by the scandal he created at Oregon, after being a miserable failure in the NFL - In 15 years, Snyder will still be coaching K-State Admiral like this? Is that because he has a ship in his end-zone??? Sorry. I jest. iPad spell check + scotch = post fail. Admirable. |

If they hadn't choked that Cal game, they'd probably be top 10. Whole lot of game left to play with the firepower on the other sideline. It's frustrating that pure 2 missteps were us giving away a game against Oregon st and not getting off the bus for Cal. We'd be in great shape for a BCS bid with even one of those wins. Right now we are looking at an outside shot. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, UCLA may have just given ND a bye. Barkley knocked out of the game with what I would guess was a partially seperated shoulder. |

As a kid I always loved this Saturday when the Buckeyes would play Michigan and the USC v UCLA. College footbal is better when games like this have meaning. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Apparently just about every SEC team scheduled a bye this week. Every conference should need to schedule 9 game conference seasons, the extra win playing a nobody affects the rankings at the end of the season. It's quite possible that when everything plays out, ND will have played one team that finishes in the Top 25. Would people still say they played the toughest schedule in the country? ![]() | ![]() Wow, 2 upsets, I think I can hear the rejoicing from Tuscaloosa. Oregon's last offensive series was ridiculous. It was like they were playing for a field goal. |

![]() Lets not put ND in the title game yet. Had USC won today, with Barkely healthy, I would have imagined they would have been favored (or pick em at worst) against ND at home. USC's season is now done (no PAC12 championship game) and they would love nothing better than to spoil a rival's season. They still have tons of talent on offense and I have no idea who the backup QB is, but I would bet anything he was a blue chip recruit out of HS. ND is undefeated, but lets not forget they haven't exactly been benching their starters in the 4th quarter all season. They played tight (one score) games against Purdue, Stanford, BYU, and Michigan. They were also a missed FG away from losing to Pittsburgh. So what happens if ND loses? Who becomes #2? KState? Oregon? What happens if Georgia loses to GTech then beats Alabama in the SEC championship? Oh the possibilities. I know a playoff would be cool, but I stated before that I'm fine with things the way they are. The past two weeks of football were great...and with an 8 game playoff...none of the upsets would have really mattered. |

![]() | ![]() Remember though when USC received their ban from post season and sanctions, there was a mass exodus from SC's bench and recruits. It's possible he's a blue chipper, it's also possible he's who they settled on... I have to look that up now. USC does a good bio on each player. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() uclamatt2007 - 2012-11-17 9:49 PMApparently just about every SEC team scheduled a bye this week. Every conference should need to schedule 9 game conference seasons, the extra win playing a nobody affects the rankings at the end of the season. ND has played Oklahoma, Stanford and Michigan. All still in the top 25. Do you think 2 of the 3 will drop out? I guess anything is possible. Alabama has played Michigan, LSU and Texas AM, losing to AM. Georgia has played Florida and S. Carolina, losing to Carolina. So, they've played as many (and in GA's case, more) top 25 teams than the current # 2 and 3. The difference is they've one all their games - it wasn't pretty, but they did.GO IRISH It's quite possible that when everything plays out, ND will have played one team that finishes in the Top 25.
