Hope everybody's training is going well.  I too am staying at the Shores of Panama.  I had a friend who stayed there last year and absolutely loved it.  He said it is close to the race site and you can even see the swim start from some rooms.

Hope everybody has a good early tri season and stay injury free.

Hope everyone's training is going well.  I did the shirts for last year's race and thought I'd offer the design to you guys if you'd like to reuse it.  It was easy to spot.  The only change you would need to make would be the date.

In case anyone was curious, we're below 200 days now...196 now. (I'm a day counter...have been for ages!)
Anyhow, I'm recovering from what ended up indeed being a stress fracture to the top part of my right fibula...April ended up being a fairly light month in retrospect, but I am at the 5 week point of healing, and there is no pain, so I hope to be running in 1-2 weeks.  In the meantime, swim swim, bike bike, and some aquajog thrown in there. I have an Oly on Memorial Day and am excited to get out there and race given the leg is fine.  I had to aquabike it for my HIM the beginning of this month, and it was really weird not to run afterwards.  I am just thankful that I'm dealing with this NOW...before we hit IM specific training.  So, it is what it is and while I cannot think of the last time I went a month without running, I haven't gone too crazy yet thanks to the bike and swim!! Hopefully I've taken the one injury for the IMFL BT team and we can all be done with that!  Stay healthy and happy racing to those of you that are getting out there in the thick of it!

As stated in some of there earlier posts, go through VRBO.com.  I went through there and booked a full week stay for just over $600 after all taxes and fees.  I ended up getting one of the cheaper rooms but I am sure there are lots of really good deals in the  $700 to $800 range.   Good luck.

We're staying at the shores of Panama - we have a 3 BR Gulf front for 5 nights and it's just over $900.  They had Gulf views for a bit over $800 also...Training is getting longer now - bike rides are 3+ hours and runs are creeping up to 2 hrs. Can't believe that's not even half of it!   Good luck to everyone racing Gulf Coast this weekend!

I just signed up to volunteer at the race.   Can't wait to find out what they assign me to and see y'all race!  I asked for women's change tent as my first choice and I think bike handler as my second.

I live just an hour away in Niceville and planned on just driving back and forth.  However, if anyone has a sofa they don't mind me crashing on the night after the race, I would really appreciate it!  I figure I'm going to be at the race late...I'd love to see the last finishers.  And I will have to be back early the next morning for 2010 signups.  So rather than drive all the way home for a couple of hours of sleep I thought I might see if someone had a place I could crash.  I'm also thinking about setting up sleeping bag in the back of my truck...seriously!   If anyone has room I would be glad to provide beer and/or sherpa servcies in return.

Sherri (AKA Oliveview) is in charge of the womens changing tent so you can get that gig easy.  You can crash on our couch/floor night after the race

Hello all,

Long time no talk.  About two months ago I found out that we were going to get caught up in the economic downturn and I was going to have to drop out of the race.  It was quite depressing but I understood.  So for the past two months I have not worked out at all and put back on about 12 pounds!  Now, because of my amazingly supportive wife it looks like we are going to make it work so that I can still  chase my ironman dreams!  Now I am terrified because I feel completely de-trained.  This is my first Ironman so I am not sure how much time it takes for me to compete at my best.  However, I am afraid that since we are under six months I won't be able to do my best.  Then again, I am just happy that I will be able to try.  I have 17hrs to finish and the longer I am out there the more I get for my money.

I am excited to see so many people coming on board over at the Shores of Panama.  Maybe we should have a get-together or something.  Good luck everyone, can't wait to see you in PCB.

Don't fret, lots of time left to train. Just give it an honest effort and you'll do great!
