Ahh poor lonely boys thread.  They might be forced to do some company work while web surfing. We can't let that happen!!!

I've gotten in a short swim and strength today.  Still have to figure out my goals.  I think I will take Judi's approach and just do # of sessions.  I have a call weekend this month and need to figure out what other days look too crazy to get a workout in.  I'll get it posted tonight.  I am still trying to catch up from my week away.  Lots to do at home (buy food soon!!) and work!!  Catch up kinda takes the fun out of vacation :-P

mchally - 2010-05-04 1:32 PM Well, I started my month off with a half marathon.  My first serious half...the first I did in November and I was keeping a friend company and it was a lot of walking with some easier jogging.

i managed to do this one without any run training (I had gotten in a fair bit of swimming and biking though).  I devised a strategy during the first mile of the run.  I did run walk intervals.  I walked the first 1.5 to 2 minutes of miles 2-9, the first minute of miles 10 and 11 and then ran through the end.  It worked really well.  I think that I was running at about an 8:30 pace, my average pace for the half was 9:12 or so.  My goal had been to finish without injuring myself and planned on taking a bit under 3 hours.  My finish time was 2:00:04!

Very excited.  Tempted to never train in the run again...I always end up injuring myself.  Probably a bad idea though.  I just need to train smarter.

OK Mel, rub it in, why don't ya!  I trained for 2 months and finished my half mary in 2:06!  Cry

Kidding, of course.  Congratulations!  I've heard some very compelling stories about the run/walk strategy when doing marathons.
well...they totally hyped up that it was the flattest and fastest course around.  It was fairly flat and absolutely gorgeous!  The cool thing about the walk run strategy is that I got to see the same awesome pace booty again and again.

Well, I got a swim in while waiting for the BF to get off of work.  I did a bit of stretching in the hot tub too.  Now it is time to pay the bills...but I seem to be wandering bt instead.

Ok, I did it anyway.  I don't know why, but I never actually WANT to swim.  I always have to psyche myself up to get in the pool.  But then when I'm swimming I enjoy it.

This is totally copied from my log.  I don't care.  Damn.  It won't copy.

I had a crappy day.  Baby got hit by projectile vomit by another kid.  Doctor said we will know in 5 to 7 days if he catches the bug.

A friend of mine, who is like a dad, had a mild heartattack last night.  He is stable right now but will be having surgery on Wednesday morning.

I missed my Tuesday run.

I am thinking we might want to ask the boys to shave for their losing leg shots.  What do you think?

Ummm... I don't think so. I guess we better not lose this one then!
