Also, we tend to be an inspiring bunch (as in, we use the "inspire" feature of the site a lot). If you are not familiar with inspires, note that you can reply to them by clicking Reply. This pops out a new window for you to type your response so that the original poster can see it. Finally, most of us use the training log on the site (Yanti said that it's required: "Keeping up your training log here on BT and opening it to other group members is mandatory."). This makes it a lot easier for us to help each other when training questions come up. Here's a few shorts article on training logs: http://running.competitor.com/2013/12/training/why-you-should-keep-... http://www.active.com/triathlon/articles/10-reasons-to-keep-a-train... If you're not going to log or blog or whatever here on BT, please put a link to your training log in your BT Dashboard. If you list your upcoming races on your training log -- by adding to My Races or listing them in Dashboard, we'll celebrate with you! We have a Google+ community that we use on an irregular basis. Send your info to a returning Manatee (Janyne, Chris, Monica or Darren) and you will be added. We have a Bike Gallery as well. Post a picture of your racing steed and draw Chris' attention to it. He'll get you added. We have a Strava group too. Let Chris or Janyne know and we can add you. Oh, we're on Twitter too... In the past, someone in the Pod (Yanti, Chris, Janyne) has created a table listing all of the pod members with links to their logs. Once this handy dandy table has been created, feel free to copy/paste it to your own dashboard. Please be active! Inactive Manatees make us sad! A bunch of us are Facebook friends too. It's another great way to keep up with what's going on with each other. (We like to keep tabs on each other, if you couldn't already tell.) Not sure the best way to join that fun. Janyne, maybe you have an idea? |

My goal is just to finish in good shape with a smile on my face and I'm willing to run/walk. I have 3 runs scheduled per week. What are your thoughts? I am a believer in frequency and would try to squeeze one more day in per week if that is possible. That would better support enough weekly mileage to push out a longer run. I think you certainly could do it on three and a long run of 10 but I would see that more as a minimum to get you through. I also think that the long run is a little overrated in training and I try to focus on the cummulative workload each week. Again, consistency and frequency are what will give you a solid base and IMO will yield the best results. |

I'm convinced that if an HR person checked the web browser histories here, well we'd have way less employees. ETA: I should transfer it to a BT album. Pardon me for injecting a little sombreness into the merree madness, but this is actually like big beams of disco lights in the current darknesses here: I am fiercely proud of Indonesia's responders to the Air Asia search and recovery effort -- I said in the erstwhile Manatees thread that the director of search and rescue is a family friend. He hasn't slept in three days and might not for another three. His leadership and support for his crew have been incredible. The Navy rescuers and recoverers as well as divers were dispatched from Bangka-Belitung (the closest province and islands), and they happen to be the same folks who helped organize and provided security and safety during the Sungailiat Triathlon (in the same location) that Kingsley and I attended as sponsored athletes and had a combined first honeymoon/second wedding at. My friend and her family whose cousins were on board are understandably in shock and grief, and they are very quiet but acknowledging condolences. I will sit with them (that's what you do here) when I return to Jakarta next week.

Mr. Rogers' (the only way a child raised in the US can refer to him) quote was used extensively here after Boston. Think of us sitting with you (virtually) as you sit with them... |

As tragic as the outcome was, it's good the wreckage was found and at very least the families of the lost aren't wondering forever what became of their loved ones. |

Oh, and I have IG connected to Strava because everyone needs to see my workout pix right? My GC connects to Strava, TP and BT too. I think I set it up in TP to pull from GC, and the set the others up the same way. In essence, GC is the talker and all the other programs listen. Maybe I need to change my nickname to GC. And Strava clearly needs another letter so we can turn that into an acronym too. |

Champion 10550 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes?) ACK! I can't believe I missed the beginnings of the new thread!! Sigh. Please let me in!! NAME: Blueyedbikergirl/Monica/Tangemelons (you all can thank Yantilicious for that one)/Hey You STORY: Man... how long do you have? Oh, you want to actually DO something today? Fine, I'll give you the cliffnotes version... I grew up as a gymnast competing locally, nationally and internationally. I retired from gymnastics a month before the Olympic selection meet and I still kind of kick myself for that one, but my dad had me practicing basketball the same day I told my gymnastics coach I was done. I'm a provincial champion in gymnastics, basketball and beach volleyball, and then got married and got fat. Got divorced, found the gym and BT. Found a guy on BT and moved to the UK, then to Chicago and now to Austin where I'm hoping we'll be for more than 2 years as moving countries SUCKS, but we're in the midst of house-buying chaos so there's at least one more move before we're done for a while. The ongoing saga is well documented in the BT blog, so if you're completely bored one day, feel free to start playing along.
