I just want to do absolutely anything except watch TV and use the iPad. Gorgeous day, no job and I just can't motivate myself to ride the bike, go dig clams or fix the lawn tractor and mow. I didn't like my employer yet this is how I'm feeling? I don't get it.... unfortunately i know the feeling all too well. my shrink's advice for those kind of days is - they will happen, don't fight it. BUT don't let it consume you. say "i will just lay here until noon, then i have to get out of bed, get dressed, and walk the dogs/cook lunch/read the paper" pick something small and manageable, do it, and that getting up and accomplishing something will help motivate you to do more. don't overwhelm yourself with a huge list of crap to do or you'll just stay in bed. good luck. Believe me, I know what you're going through, and it's not fun. As Meh said, don't fight it - but don't wallow. Give yourself something that you CAN handle getting done today, and set a time for when you're going to start. I read this first before going up and I also read "don't 'Swallow'" which really got my attention and had me doing a little back reading. Funny same here! |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN#200: BicenTANial Bliss! More fun FIL stories. He's here again, for another couple weeks. The kicker is the wife is in LA for the week so I get him all to myself. Joy.
Story 1: So the other morning, I'm following my routine and go downstairs to get ready for work. I'm messing around and the FIL is apparently hidden in some little corner and doesn't say ANYTHING. I don't notice him for the 5-10 minutes and eventually disrobe outside the laundry room like a always do.. So buck naked and walk down the hall to the shower. When I get in there, I notice water in the sink and some drops on the floor. I'm worried there is a leak because OBVIOUSLY there is no one downstairs who could have used it. Think to wrap a towel around me this time and step out to investigate, only to see the FIL tucked away in the corner. Sort of freaked me out. Story 2: I get home from work yesterday, go for a run, then start to make us dinner. FIL is out walking. Dinner finally gets done at 8:30, FIL comes in at 8:45, fixes a plate and eats, then says "good night" and heads up to bed at 8:55. I few pleasantries were exchanged, but that's about it. I don't know, if someone made me dinner, I guess I could do the courtesy of conversation and not dine and dash... I should be surprised by now - but that stuff STILL gets under my skin. My wife asks why we are not "friends". Tough to be friends with someone who does everything they can not to interact. Of course when she is around, he's a little tail wagging puppy at her heels and mr conversationalist. Of course, that's his favorite child, but still... And my wife get's mad at ME for not talking to him much now. Oh well. I feel like I rant about this once a year to TAN. |

I'll be traveling and doing race prep for a lot of the day, so I likely won't be able to follow online, but all available fingers and toes will be crossed and lots of good & positive vibes & juju will be getting sent your way!
I'd be cooler, though, if it was actually - ya know - a REAL 140.6. |

I feel like I rant about this once a year to TAN. ha, i was thinking about complaining to TAN about my inlaws too. in the grand scheme of things, they are not bad inlaws. but i'm NEVER going to be close to them and my husband doesn't get it. i can't even talk to him about it cause he gets SO offended about it. i have spent a lot of time with them in the past month (thank GOD they aren't living with me i can't IMAGINE) and i like them a little less every time... |

Not many venues where you can have a chance to do that. And of course consume copious amounts of fermented grapes after said event! Such a beautiful bike/run course! You need to eat at Rutherford Bar and Grill if you have a chance. Their artichoke is to die for! |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN#200: BicenTANial Bliss! Most expensive lunch EVER! I went home to meet the plumber. I found a leak this morning at the control valve to me house. Their estimate? $5600... Yay. Add $7 to that for my lunch at Subway, and it marks a new high mark for money spend for lunch. How do you ever really know when you are getting service, you aren't either getting completely ripped off, or if they are not suggesting more work than is really needed. I'm sure they thought I was the biggest D-bag client ever, but at that price, I needed to be forcefull that I thought I was getting screwed and dropping almost 6k is not easy. I asked them if THEY could afford 6k out of the blue and to put themselves in my shoes. (of COURSE I could "easily" pay 6k, but I didn't want them to know it). I took out some financing to get them started but will probably pay it all up front. I had to say it was difficult for us. And just because we CAN easily pay it, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. There goes our big vacation plans for the next year or two... No more trips to Europe and more trips to the inlaws or parents. Joy. |
