Police officer shot and killed? Suspect detained, told to strip to ensure he had no explosives, questioned... One coward down, one to go - hope he doesn't kill himself too. And really hope no one else dies.I was thinking about this officer when I was driving this morning. I thought about putting my mourning stripe on my badge because this one really hits us nationally, and us as runners. I also thought about wearing my badge with the mourning stripe for the memorial ride in a couple weeks. Thoughts? Too much? I'm not one to play the "I'm a cop" card. Well this is the Manatees ... no such thing as too much. But in this case, really really, definitely not too much. Touching tribute. |

I might have to go gluten free. NO beer. Cider! Mmmmm Woodchuck! I have recipes for that... http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/martin/wildrecipes/ (Yes, I was asked to move this from a server that is being decommissioned. During last weekend's 100k we got a lot of mileage out of this when discussing it as we passed roadkill. Not sure this is the image that Cooperative Extension wants to present.) Nah, we just kept a roadkill count while riding and talk about who will host the cookout! |

So after the run the other day I told you that DS1 is excited about running and really enjoyed the racing atmosphere. He wanted to do a "real race, with bibs and shirts and everything". So I found a 5k next weekend (yes, that would make it 5 weekends in a row for me). It is $30 each (for a 5k?) and is in Santa Fe. So, we're doing a 5k that is going to cost me $60 and be 45 minutes away! I'll do it though, to help his motivation. |

The fact this touched you enough that you are moved to this kind of recognition proves that it is genuine concern and admiration and solidarity. It would be "using" your "cop card" if you were trying to gain some advantage by wearing your badge and stripes. Which of course you wouldn't do! |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED So, we don't get official times until next week some time, but I don't really care about my official time. I think what is recorded as of now is pretty darn close if not complete accurate. If you are concerned about it you can wait until next week to read it and I will update it then.
Warning, it's long. Not Yanti-long but not concise like my usual Salty-self |
