rymac - 2012-02-21 7:48 AM They say that a 90 front is not as fast as the 60 if you are averaging under 24 mph which I thought was interesting.
Who says that?

Canadian Flo

Front Wheel
Our FLO 60 and 90 have similar aerodynamics.  The FLO 90 is faster until about 12 degrees of yaw and our FLO 60 is faster at yaw angles greater than 12 degrees.  This is a common trend among other aero wheels on the market.  It is known that faster riders experience shallower yaw angles.  It's just how the physics works out.  This means faster riders (riders who have and average speed of ~24mph or greater) will benefit more from the FLO 90.  Athletes averaging more humane speeds  will benefit more from the FLO 60.  Also, keep in mind that the FLO 90 will be a little more touchy in cross winds. Our new fairing shapes allow all of our wheels handle much better in cross winds when compared to standard aerowheels... but... if you are at all nervous about bike handling, the FLO 60 will be an easier wheel to handle on the front.

Was on a mini vacation in Cambria, on the Central Cal. coast over the weekend.  Beautiful part of the state.  Was able to get my long 12 mile run in.  I like running in new places, allows you to explore parts you may not necessarily see as a car tourist.

This was about mile 5

Good Morning - I got an early 65 minute ride on the bike this morning and did 4x8' Threshold intervals at 100%FTP.  I felt pretty good on these.

I am hoping to get a short run in a little later but it might not happen.  The rest of the week looks pretty good though.

Is anybody looking at these FLO wheels?  They just started their launch yesterday and I have been looking at the 60 front.  I was just planning to throw a disc wheelcover on my stock Felt TTR2 rear and have a nice little setup for under $500.

They say that a 90 front is not as fast as the 60 if you are averaging under 24 mph which I thought was interesting.  I was around 22.5-23.0 mph in my Olympic races last year so I guess it makes sense to go with the 60.

Not sure what the time gap from order to receipt is going to be but it may be ugly.  That is my only concern.

I keep telling myself I am perfectly content with my 3-4 year old HED 3s.. I don't need new stuff... I don't need new stuff... I don't need new stuff.....  whew.  this is hard

Morning, what's on for training folks?

Am run and noon swim.  The swim was with my new swim partner.  It was not so long but a bit tough for me right now.  Here is the workout.

350yds FR
4x50 on :45 (:40)
6x400yds FR :15 rest (1:25-1:30'ish pace)
150yds FR CD
3100yds total
:49

She finished 150yds ahead of me on the main set.  I hung with her until the end of the 3rd round of the 400’s.  My stroke started getting real sloppy and flipped short on 2 turns.  Other than that I was happy to hang for as long as I did.

A quck fly bye for now- just ran across the street to get free WiFi from the mall. I promise I'll catch up to everyone when I get back. Currentle enjoying the hell out of Cancun. Weather has been phenomenal - 80deg plus- running past 830 is painful but in a sorta kind of way, I love it! Looks like all run for the week for me. I bought a set of googles and the f€%#@&$ nose piece broke so the OWS today was ok- really sucks swimming with contacts and stopping every two mins to find yourself 45 deg heading out to sea instead of parallel to the beach. . Not meant to be I guess- had a good workout also on arms and legs (jet ski) I can feel it in the thighs climbing steps. Anyway, better go before the family wonders where I am hiding. Chat soon- keep pushing forward! I do miss biking- seen bikers go by full throttle

Woke up a little late, but instead of being a little B*@&$ about it, I got on the trainer anyway. Got in the workout, except for the 10' cooldown. Short run later today.

It's looking like this Tucson thing will happen for me by the end of March! I have an on-site interview March 1, and another final round interview in Miami (b/c the hiring manager will be traveling here anyway) on March 7.

Had a really good 6 miler this morning. Legs felt strong during and after. Hoping for some really good recovery for Saturdays 12 miler. Unfortunately weatherman is predicting snow, wind and cold. Might have to be another treadmill run.

I ran 8.45 this morning and have a 2K swim planned later today.

Had an awesome trail run yesterday on some new to me trails at this nature preserve.  I saw about 15 deer, 30 turkeys and one huge hawk that looked like it could eat me.  The deer would not move when I ran up to them...it was nuts.  It had rained all morning so nobody else was there..perfect!

RE: the Flo wheels.  I am not sure now.  They have 4 different waves of shipments and sounds like it would be the end of the season before I received it.  I think I am just going to borrow a deeper front from the LBS for my races and get the disc cover for now.  I wanted to have it for my HIM in June and since that will not happen.

Elaine:  good news on the job and a great place to live the tri life.

Rudy:  Nice ride!  You are a beast on those VO2 intervals.

Chris:  That is a sweet pic and sounds like a run that you easily lose track of time and distance and just run.

Got my swim in this morning, despite my mind working hard to keep me home.  Fred, I think you hit the nail on the head with my shoulder pain and my arms being to wide.  I was concentrating so hard on not crossing over that I think I overcompensated.  I think I have it back in line now and the pain is no longer there.

Definitely!  Until of course, I wade in.  Back on Monday - late late late.  Back to work yesterday with lots of errands to do.

Planning to run tonight - i should swim but won't likely get to it.  We're having a new sofa delivered tonight and we need groceries more than I need to swim.

Had a wonderful vacation that was completely lazy - a little tiny bit of ocean swimming, some floating in the pool and one day with aqua aerobics.  That was the life ...

I was in the middle of talking myself out of my run cause I am not feeling well but all I have is an upset stomach.  f'it, I am going to go get my run on cause I know how tough it is to be where Fred is right now.  No need to make up reasons to not get it done when others so want to be able to do it.

Hang tough Fred.  Sending positive vibes.
