cami bee - 2008-09-17 10:58 AM Okay TAN, here's a mini-poll.  You must list 3 nerdy things about yourself.  The rules, they must be true and you can't try to diminish your nerdiness by following up with "cool" things about yourself.

1. My husband picked me up by having me join his role-playing game group.  For those of you curious, we were playing TORG not D&D.

2. When I'm driving and I see mileage signs, I try to make the numbers connect in some way.

3. I'd rather use Linux and do everything from a text prompt than use Windows and the stupid GUI that doesn't let me do everything I want to do.

I must not be much of a nerd. I don't know the meaning of TORG, Linux or GUI.

I'm not nerdy when it comes to computers or math. Or RPGs. I have NEVER played an RPG, I am proud to say

You might actually like it.  You were in theater.

I've been witness to role-playing games as they've gone on...I think it's a bit TOO nerdy for my tastes I prefer things like Scrabble or Boggle or Trivial Pursuit, where you can show off random knowledge or freakish abilities for combining letters, etc. I used to play Trivial Pursuit with a guy friend of mine at MIT - we'd team up and we were basically unbeatable. My sort-of-boyfriend at the time would pout and not want to play if he couldn't be on my team

My wife and a few friends call me a nerd but I don't know why?

Really?  You can't come up with anything?  That makes me sad.

I just called my girlfriend and asked her why she thinks I am a nerd. She says:

You like techy thingies

You research everything

You get the friggin word of the day emailed to you.

Dooood! I was prom queen! How did you know??

I am totally a writing, editing, and grammar nerd. I have to restrain myself sometimes from marking up people's documents with a red pen. When I was in high school, I wrote a letter to a publishing company because they spelled the word "entrepreneur" wrong. (and yes, I can spell that word without using spell check, and get it right the first time).

I'm a nerd, just in a different way!

Agreed. Prom queens are NEVER the nerdy girls. Ever.

Oh, to add to my nerdiness/lameness - I took my gay friend Carl to my junior prom - not like I had any other options. And I didn't even get to go to my senior prom.

Why I am a nerd

1. Played lots of RPG's and computer games, actually led a raid guild for a couple years in Everquest 2

2. I have hundreds and hundreds of fantasy novels and many of them I have read 10+ times...

3. I just got a small hand held computer from my company president to see if I can get it to read data from my garmin watch real time and if it can intercept my HR sensor data.

Oh and I have wikipedia open in another window looking at charachters from the Dresden Files books, wanted to look up the Archangel Uriel mentioned in the book.

If we are listing the amount of computers we own as being nerdy, in my house we have

1. Gaming rig desktop

2. Gaming rig laptop

3. Wife's laptop

4. Old gaming rig desktop

5. PC I built up for my son to play his preschool games on

a few more lying around in various stages of dis-repair
