Expert 1452 Troy, MI | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I have to liven things up. Today is day 21/21 of my reset program and transition to a plant based diet. I went to a vegan festival (oops, wearing a leather coat and leather purse-barely hid away from the PETA people). I went to hear Scott Jurek talk. For those who don't know, he is a plant based ultrarunner that has won Western States 100 7 times. Very inspiring and quite a character. I bought his book Eat and Run from Amazon because they weren't selling them there (bummer). I may not have got him to autograph my book but I did get a photo. Edited by jogo 2013-04-21 3:57 PM |

Realized the munchkin needs some more supportive shoes now that she's running so much. You can get tiny Nike Frees! They are more fluorescent than this picture. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED 4agoodlife - 2013-04-22 3:05 AM great race Erin, even with the allergies. I know where you are coming from last spring mine were so bad that I was taking really strong antihistamines each day just to try and stop my eyes from catching fire (well that's what it felt like) and swelling shut. Even then they weren't working very well. But then I found a tissue salt remedy that has worked a treat (and is less than 1/4 of the cost of the antihistamines). It is made by Martin and Pleasance and is called "Schuessler Tissue Salts - Hayfever combo". Sorry I'm on my iPad so I can't post a pic or a link but try www.martinandpleasance.com For the first week I took them and my antihistamine but then just two of these a day and I haven't had an issue. A 30 day supply cost about $12 here in Oz.Happy end of weekend, pod! Thanks for this Jo, I have been contemplating heading back in the vegetarian direction. I have come to that conclusion that eating meat 2-3 times a week is too much for me. I might just check out his book. Hey, the other Jo, I came across a website a bit like Amazon the other day it's called fishpond and it had similar stuff on it as Amazon. It's actual book prices are slightly more than Amazon but they don't charge for postage so it turned out to be cheaper, cause Amazon postage to us is normally nearly as much as the books. Anyway thout that I would let you know, the stuff got here quicker than Amazon normally does too. |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Pod Mates... sorry I have been checked out lately. Things have been pretty hectic around here. I have been struggling to find the time to train, let alone keep up with you guys. Congrats to all racing manatees - hope the IR list is quickly back to no one on it. My training has been sporadic this last couple weeks - but I did my scheduled long ride yesterday, and a bike run brick today. It felt good to train, and was comforting to know that my base fitness has carried me through, and I'm back on track. I am moving this week, but after that, things will be back to "normal" for me. I plan on doing all my workouts this week. It was spring break last week - so the pool was closed. This meant no workouts, and no extra $$$ from my 2 clients that have now booked up my Mon, Wed, & Fridays. I am planning a road trip to Denver. I will be starting a thread for that, as I want to train my way there. I will be stopping in several cities hoping to meet fellow BTers and do their favorite local rides, runs and swims. It should be a fun trip. I have been feeling overwhelmed lately... but feel much better now. Wrote a post about it on my blog "Just hanging on". It explains how I have been feeling. Check it out if you like. I will try to keep up a bit more. I miss my pod mates! Happy training to everyone. |

Elite 4435 | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED A breakthrough. Basically my running up until March was two short run/walks and one long per week. Now I'm on a HIM program and not far into it, the long run is about 6km the short 2km. Well whilst that feels pathetic I'm happy with the pace improvement. My usual pace of late was a little over 7min kms. Last week I beat the 7min plateau. i thought it a fluke coz it was a shorter run. But then I ran with the random stranger 6km chatting and 6.55, yesterday did a 2km with Scooby. checked my pace when I got home 6.15. WTF!!! Holy cow I got faster! |
