It was massively foggy and cold all weekend and hadn't snowed in the mountains in more than a week so we scratched snowboarding and cross country skiing and elected to go on a hike in search of the sun.

I walked across that lake seen below once we were finished. I could hear it snap-crackle and poppin' under my feet. Luckily it wasn't too deep. I figure if I went in it would be a much needed ice bath.

Did a brewery tour on Saturday, I think we tasted like 30 or 40 beers. But who's counting???

We found this random tetherball pole

annnnd one of my favorite parks in Seattle. Nothin' like slightly over-sized hat and boots. Just cause.

*It's got to be noted, I didn't plan for my outfit to so nicely coordinate with the hat and boots. It just happened. I'm smooth like that. Smile

TETHERBALL! That pic is crazy awesome. I think it's my favorite pic of you ... random, sporty, crazy, hot.

Haha! Be honest, it's the orange pants isn't it? But regardless, thank you. Random and sporty, that about sums me up Smile

Yeah, it is totally random. It's really fitting for the neighborhood we were in though. They also have the "Trailer Park Mall"

Ok, as I mentioned a few pages back I attempted to do some video of my swim session on Monday. I am posting links to said videos but warning they are long. At times you can see the folks in the adjoining lanes. I tried to edit the videos to make them shorter but I think I made them harder to watch so I scrapped the edited and am giving you the raw deal. Two of the videos are from my 200's so they have me coming and going more and I'm not really "pushing". The other two are from the 50's which were at the end of the set so I was more tired and I was "pushing" more. For your viewing pleasure:

200 above water

200 below water

50 above water

50 below water

I realize the videos don't get a great view of my swim but if they are any help at all I'd love some input. I used my GoPro

AAAAAH why did you post these at 3am? I gotta sleep Oh wait, it's not 3am for you ... LOL. Thanks for the links, and I will watch them as soon as I get on a fast enough connection (my home Internet is powered by squirrels).

I am also jealous you have a GoPro.

Also, do you still have a link to your video from way back when?

TriAya - 2013-01-22 9:51 AM Jo– you really seem to be at the mercy of your moods and it sucks to see you suffering. Other than the maca powder you might want to see a naturopath or allopath or really, any kind of path … you might want to think about hormone replacement therapy … or cognitive-behavioral therapy … but things shouldn’t have to be this tough for you. Love you to bits, don’t want to see you going to bits!

Salty – Ethiopian food, the one thing Bali is missing! Heh … my bestest buddy and I used to go eat Ethiopian food the night before long runs and then really regret it the next day. But it’s so yum. I need to figure out how to make injera (the spongy bread) at home.

Badger Jen Moose – CONGRATULATIONS! Yes! People like you and I need to be congratulated about being lame when we’re lame so we won’t be lame anymore.

Of course I made the PB cookies ... except I did so TONIGHT at 1am.

If I forgot anyone or anyone has burning desires or questions or really just feels like they need attention, hop up and down and flipper-thwack my azz.

Yanti, (or anyone) I was wondering which is 'better': a third (I already do 2 masters swims per week) longish (~2500m) swim, or two shorter (~1500m) swims?

They announced they were coming out with the new one about 2 weeks after we bought ours Yell

We like it. We got great video when we were offroading in Moab. I've thought about putting it on my bike but I'd have to speed up the video to make it look like i'm moving Laughing

Yeah, but honestly the older ones are great and much cheaper. I played around with my brothers while I was in San Diego. It's super cool for getting surfing video and whatnot.

It does such an amazing job of really capturing a moment. I don't know how else to describe it.

So I am "productively procrastinating" tonight. I do not want to get on the treadmill so I started working on my cross country drive and stop locations. So far I am looking at: Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; Yellowstone National Park; Salt Lake City, UT; Mt Zion National Park; Las Vega, NV; Flagstaff, AZ; Albequrque, NM; Oklahoma City, OK; Dalas, TX; Birmingham, AL; finally Cleveland, TN.

Anyone have any other suggestions or places to visit on that drive or live along those routes? I know Salty & Chad are in the Seattle area.

Flagstaff is a pretty city. They have a couple tri's there every year. One of these days I'll get to do one of them.

It's actually the one I bought when I got tired of replacing my tri-top and jammers every few months. Took me a while to get use to being so nekkid, but it doesn't bother me now.

My race on Sunday wasn't my best effort, but it was OK.  Started out way too slow, not sure if it was the crowd or me or both.  There seemed to be more people there than usual, and for some reason I just wasn’t pumped up, maybe because I knew I was on a tight schedule and it had me a little off.  Most importantly I finished ahead of the girl in the outrageous pink outfit (trust me, it was MUCH worse than just pink but I hesitate to describe her in too much detail on the miniscule chance she is on here and would read the write-up) and her somewhat less bizarrely dressed friends.  I planned on shredding my legs and puking up my lungs if necessary to not let her beat me, but thankfully it wasn't necessary! Tongue out  2nd and 3rd mile splits were more in the range I was hoping for over the whole race.  There’s always next month to improve my times!

For your viewing pleasure I present:

1. the reason I do the Frozen Foot race series: homemade chicken corn noodle soup!
2. 'hockey ninja' from the AHL Outdoor Classic
3. clowning around on the 'retired' Zamboni that cleared the ice at Hersheypark Arena for many, many years before being replaced by the Olympias that currently 'work' in the Giant Center.  My friend and I actually made the front page of a local paper with our Zamboni antics!

Congratulations!!  Please tell me there is a pic of you and "zamboni antics."

Same old story here Manatees - Tuesday after a weekend race can't stop crying - wtf is that about?  Is it nutrition, I've tried everything!

What i want is to crawl into bed until I am feeling like my old self.

Dammit.

It might be nutrition, but I wonder if it is more likely a big drop in hormone levels (adrenaline, testosterone, etc.).  I'm sorry.  Big hugs for you!!

Artemis - 2013-01-20 7:47 AMConfession time: I skipped the race.  I woke up at 7 and felt like crap, so I bagged it.  I think I'm getting sick, and I have a headache from getting up with E so many times.  Plus, I've been worried about the distance given my lack of running lately.  So, yes, I am lame.
Only your toe is lame...the rest of you is just tired. Sorry you missed it, but glad you listened to your little voice. Use the day to rest up.

You made the right decision for you.  I hope that you are feeling better today.

Doing better today.  I had the day off yesterday and spent it with my husband. Lunch and a movie while the little one was at daycare.

I am feeling really better about skipping out on the race.  I wasn't that upset about it on Sunday, just feeling lame about it.

I ran today.  It's cold all of a sudden, so I went on the treadmill.  I do not have the right clothes (or healthy enough lungs) to run in 30 degree weather!

I tried swedish goggles in the pool today to see what all the fuss is about

Wow, I really liked them. They felt light in fact I couldn't even feel them for the first 200-300 yards and then they started bothering me around my eye sockets (too much pressure). Switched bag to my regular goggles and then back to the swedish for some more short intervals.

Those of you that swim in them did it take a while to get used to them? It seems like when I push off the wall I feel more pressure on my eyes. Like I said for about 200 or 300 yards I can't even tell they are there.

Yep - I concur.  Something about that pic is really hot.  Not sure if it's the pants or the boots - or maybe both.

Taking advantage of in laws and getting to gym early for a swim. It was a beautiful day here. Read and laid in sun this afternoon. Feel anti-social if I'm on computer much, so I haven't been very supportive on here

I am sooooo jealous of your trip and will live vicariously through you. Please post a lot of pics.

The only place I would add would be the Grand Canyon.  There are other places, but they would be a bit out of your way.  If Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff aren't that important to you, you could go from Zion National park over to the 4 corners through Durango and see the Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings on the way (they are way cool).  Then on down to Albuquerque.

Make sure to let Salty and I know when you are in town.  I will definitely make time to meet up and have a beer.

Can you go to www.ge.tt and "share" the original videos...after you upload them, you can send them to an email address.  I will message you my personal email address.

When I get the originals - I will be able to edit out the dead space and leave clips of the parts we need to see.  I will also slow down the video in the most important parts to make it easier to analyze / see.

If you have questions - you can call me on my cell and I can walk you through it.  It's really easy to do.
