I am doing the 21 mile. I refuse to say I dropped to the 21 mile. It is still 21 FRICKIN' MILES, and on the same course and Mile 5 (start for 21 mile) to mile 9 are downhill (before the uphill but I sort of like hills a lot so that doesn't bug me). The 21 mile has the same time limit as the marathon so I can go couch to 21 and not stress that I won't finish in time. I am planning a 30s run: 1 min walk ratio, with lots of pictures and enjoyment. I am taking advantage of every minute that my registration fee bought me. Just finishing up a 21 day structured food plan reset of my body. Lost 11 lbs so far and it really has helped my confidence, motivation, energy level, and overall well-being. I did sign up for Marine Corps Marathon in Oct. Next Sunday, after a 21 mile stroll, I will restart my running life. I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!! Lots of great news in here! I'm looking forward to hearing about Big Sur and seeing pictures. Congrats on the missing 11 pounds! Marine Corps Marathon -- woo hoo! Edited by jmkizer 2013-04-22 8:48 AM |

I'm happy with that It's a big military race and was cool to see so many people wearing/ carrying flags and having " In Honor Of:" lists on their bibs. Looked all over the expo area for our "AZ runs for Boston" bracelets, but no luck. Maybe they only did it before the start. Huge! Fun! Fast! |

I'm hoping that getting back into a training routine tomorrow will serve as some therapy. Feel better! Hard to switch focus to age group nationals in August, huh? August seems kinda far away now. Must be time for you to summit a mountain (no avalanches, please!) or sign up for a fun race. Don't you have a few coming up? |

Had an amazing day!!!! Even met a possible new sports massage therapist. Oh! Sounds great! Pictures? But of course! A bit of explanation... Corrales is the town where the wine tour was hosted. Corrales is a beautiful small town nestled, yet somehow hidden, at the edge of Albuquerque. The name is, of course, the Spanish word for corral. It is a rural area within a city, most of the homes there have acreages of farmland, horse corrals and, obviously, vinyards. It has a quaint main street and a wonderful farmers market. The owners of the wineries were wonderful and we bought 4 bottles of wine on our tour. Two sweets for DH and two dry reds for me. I did dump my bike once, at the end, but it had nothing to do with wine consumption... REALLY! (corrales.JPG) Attachments ---------------- corrales.JPG (33KB - 2 downloads) |

The purchased bottles were transported to the finish for us by car. That way they could encourage larger purchases At one of the wineries all of us dirty bikers were traipsing in amid a dressy bridal shower . Apparently the owners and the shower party got there times mixed up. We weren't too concerned about it but I'm not sure the bride-to-be and her entourage appreciated a bunch of dirty bikers breaking through their festivities. |

In trying to make my training more transparent to DH I decided to schedule my current plan with morning only sessions. Monday & Wednesday are swim then run on the dreadmill. I think that is the problem. Not only do I not look forward to getting up at O Dark Thirty for a swim session, to follow it up with a dreadmill? Ick! I need to figure out a different plan. Maybe run outside near the gym? Not sure what the sidewalk situation is over there. Other ideas? |

You're denying us the pleasure ... really, I thought a winocycle would set you up for a few days, at least! You definitely need some incentive. Can you make yourself a delicious breakfast smoothie (maybe even the night before) that you have after the sessions? Or heck, before? Go check out the outside running situation at the gym and see if it's tenable. |

Is running at lunch an option? Regardless, running in the morning in the summer is better anyway -- avoid the worst of the heat. Are there any local running groups that meet in the mornings? Once you get the run handled, perhaps work the swim around it. |
