well, i packed my nutrition up about 45 minutes ago.  i'm pretty confident in saying that the emotions have fully engaged.  btw, when you lay out the entire race day food in one place,  HOLY CRAP,  that's a lot!

i really don't know how to say thank you to all of you.  just saying thanks seems so lame.  but thanks.  thank you for everything.  not just this ironman crap, but everything.  its so awesome to be part of such a special group.

heading to the airport shortly.  texas bound, baby!!!

Not to rain on anyone's parade but everyone PLEASE remember to wear your helmets and be safe out there.  A very good friend of mine (Katie's husband for those of you who met her) wiped out bad on his cyclocross bike yesterday.  Broken clavicle, broken wrist, broken rib, smashed helmet.

John, as you are screaming through that course be extra safe and have a fabulous time.  This is going to be a once in a life time experience and remember every moment of it.  WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Awwww man, I'm all weepy reading Skinny's post!! Crush it, Purple! Simply crush. And yeah, it is a ton of nutrition, ha!! You shoulda seen the crap in our house last weekend, what with 10 triathletes and 4 days of training. We were all so sick of synthetic food products!!!

Hope you post lots and lots of updates over the next few days. Everything is such a rush -- getting your IM wristband, just walking around all of the athletes and families, seeing the start and finish areas, shopping, checking out fancy (and no so fancy!) bikes, seeing ALL of the body types there to race (tall/short/skinny/less skinny/lean/muscular -- they are all there!).

PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am running a super special 5K on Saturday with my favorite 9-year-old... my daughter, Shea. We are running the Girls On the Run 5K in Seattle. Awesome and amazing program. Every girl has a running buddy, and Shea wanted me to be hers. She has been running like gangbusters the last couple of weeks (she finally listened to me and stopped doing her 6:30 pace for 30 seconds and then dying for the rest of the way, ha!) and her coaches/teachers have told me she is really learning how to pace. Awesome.

Sadly... on Sunday she stubbed one of her toes really, really badly and as of last night was still very gimpy on it. I am super sad for her and hope she can run like she is capable. But in true Shea fashion, with her super optimistic and sunny disposition, she said, "It's OK, Mom. We can walk the whole thing slowly if we need to." She's right!! All along I've been worried my hamstring might hold us back (she knew she might need to walk with me!), and now that I'm feeling more put together... well... it is what it is. She is beautiful and happy and strong and I'm so excited to share this with her!!

I used to be a GOTR coach and it really is a great program!!  I wish I had time to coach now but maybe when the kids are older.

LOVE this! Good for Shea - she's a tough cookie, and I bet she'll do great. Does your fashionista have an outfit picked out?

Wow, Three really special races.

John, looking forward to following you.  Enjoy every moment leading up to and during your big day.  Stay in the moment, but take it all in.

Doug, enjoy your first race of the season.  You've got the training in, should be the start of a great season.

Kyla, I just love your daughter!  So funny how sometimes these little ones somehow put things in perspective for us and they shine!

I think Doug had a typo in that description.  I think it is a 1000 meter swim, not 100 meter.  (100 meter would be an awfully short swim.)  And good luck Doug.

I have a 5K run race this weekend to raise money for childhood brain cancer research.  A 3yo sister of my son's classmate was diagnosed with the disease and all of our hearts go out to her and the family.  The 5K is a run race, but also a family walk/full participation thing.  Unclear whether I will run it alone and then circle back to join the family for the walk or whether I will run it slow with my son or what.  But I am looking forward to it because it is raising money for a good cause.
