Saw my Chiropractor--pelvis was all twisted so likely cause or effect of knee soreness.  It feels better

Yay!! You're off the DL and can go back to....hey, wait a minute.  You were still doing everything anyway.  Guess that just means that now you can do it with less soreness.  Glad it was so easily resolved!!

Wondering what to do...

Betty Designs has opened up the "Are You A Betty?" for 2015 and though I'd really LIKE to apply and got a TON of support and inspiration from the Bettys on FB, I just don't know that I've really done anything all that great warranting being back on the team. This year got pretty much derailed in June with the job thing, the moving thing, not being able to do IMChoo, having to forfeit most of the races I had signed up (and paid for), and I didn't really feel like I got to represent the brand all that well.  Couple that with the fact that a LOT of the women that are on the Betty team are fast.  Really, REALLY fast - and I just don't know that I measure up to that standard.

What do I do Manatees?  Do I apply for next year and hope that my desire to have a better, more race-filled year next year will help me get selected, or do I thank my lucky stars that I got to have the opportunity and move on?

It can't hurt to apply, so in true Manatee fashion, just DOOO EETTT!!

I WIIIILLLLLLLLL!!!

Try it and attempt a "representation redemption" year.

And all those women are going your pace...forward.

HA!!  Yes, they are going forward... but at a MUCH speedier rate than I am!!!

More viewing time on the course!

I'm just making sure I'm getting my money's worth by taking in all the scenery!!

You are giving Betty Designs a higer rate of visibility.

Ooooh - I like that one better!  It's not that I'm slow, it's that I want to give the most amount of people at an event as much exposure to Betty Designs as possible!  If I were to just fly by them, they might not even see it because I'd just be a pink & black blur!

Nicely done, Chris.  Nicely done, indeed!!

It's a serious consideration and why teams often do pick from across the range. I said in an interview, it's not the tip that holds the pyramid up--tri gear is dependent on a large base of BOP and MOPpers.

DOOO EEEEET TANGERINES-in-a-Betty-top!

Originally posted by StaceyK Hi guys I have a confession to make, which at this point in time I am only prepared to make to you. Today I am undertaking an intervention on myself! sounds crazy I know but it has become a necessity as I am not prepared to admit my addition to others outside of BT and I am not prepared to let it re-consume me as it did once before. So for nearly 20 years I have not read works of fiction, the reason being is that I used to become consumed by them to the point that nothing else mattered. When I went away for work nearly 4 weeks ago a friend who was not aware of this previous issue lent me a book. I thought whats the harm right, I'm a grown up and I like to think a fairly reasonable person so it wont be an issue. I can read a bit put the book down do the things that I need to do and be normal with the whole thing. Well it turns out not to be the case. In the past 3.5 weeks I have not exercised, hidden books in the office at home and secretly read them when supposedly doing other things, stayed up well past midnight reading most nights, and sat at my desk at work with my book hidden on my lap under my desk, reading instead of working. Tonight is bin night and the three 500+ page books that I brought and have read more than once over the last 3.5 weeks are going in the recycle bin (yes I have read them all multiple times in this 3.5 weeks). I am sure that people will think that I am being flippant about this but I'm not I am serious. I have to admit that this is an addiction that I can not control and it is negatively impacting my life and therefore I must stop it now while I still can. Thanks for being a group that I can admit this to without fearing your judgement (too much).

The first step is awareness and admission

I've seen it all (and done a lot of it!) Addictions are real and they aren't picky (either in how they present themselves or who they affect). Some people can moderate, some need to abstain. Do what you need to, ask for help liberally, and know that you are NOT ALONE.

I think that would mean forgoing this race but well noted!!! It really is all about fun, the catered on-course buffet, supported training, and the sightseeing tour for this IM.

Just popping in for a little mental break.  I've been coding checks in SQL packages all morning and my head is ready to crack.  aaah, the soothing relief of Manateeland, even though not a whole lot is going on!  Hoping Janyne's surgery is going well/went well.

Happy Friday, Pod!

It's so quiet in here today. Everyone's fingers must be crossed for Janyne's surgery, therefore making typing impossible   Any updates? I'm assuming she's knocked out at home by this time.

I was in training all day today.  (Zzzzzzzzzz....)  Speaking of zzzz, I was just out weeding in the garden and got stung by a something-or-another in my armpit AND on the underside of my upper arm.  It's like the dang thing stung me in 2 places at once.  Needless to say, I'm now finished with weeding and safely inside.

I'm starting the coached running group at the LRS tomorrow.  I've been corresponding with the coach and I'm excited to get started.  I'm not, however, anxious to get up at "the crack of a sparrow's fart" (to quote the Welshman amongst us).  I'm meeting him there at 7 a.m.  WTF was I thinking when I agreed to that?!

Hope everybody has a fun and safe weekend.  (Even you, Yanti, to the extent you can manage!)

hahaha - you're meeting at 7am - we are usually done with our long run and heading to breakfast by that time!  That is the joy of living in Florida heat and humidity!!

I'm a big fan of running groups - they help keep you accountable and provide friendship and support.  Hope you have fun with yours.

Sorry about the bee sting.

Sorry about the bee sting.

I'm rarely out of bed before 6:45 on weekdays and just about the only time I exercise in the morning is when I have a race.  Luckily this group meets at 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.  I have another commitment every other Saturday so I'll mostly be going to the evening workouts.  That's a good thing because I've generally found that if it's a contest between sleeping and exercising, sleeping wins!!

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
