Not everyone is as loquacious as we are. That's OK. I too have my times when I retire into myself. It's the INTP that I am, with the I and P off the scale. And, at times, it is a bit overwhelming to keep up. Ok I know I'm pages behind but damn I go to bed and you guys add 5 pages on me. Lucky it's a no training day today so I have time to catch up and not be too late for work. Michael - you are going to have to start adding definitions when you use big words (so that I can know what they mean and add them to my vocab). So please provide a definition of loquacious.

Think I'm fighting the stupid sickies. Want to do a trail run/walk, but should I just settle for stationary bike? If you want to hit the trail then doooo eeeeet! Thought I'd add this for a little fun. I've been a Manatee for 2 seasons now. Regularly when I see the emails (I stay updated through email to my phone) I think of this song. It's from a cartoon my boys use to watch when they were little. That is a great song, gave me a good laugh for the morning, thanks for sharing. |

Is it advisable to do a HIM a week after a sprint? There's a couple races I'm eyeing June 2 and 7. It depends . Is the HIM your A race? I wouldn't do it, because I would not be able to *not* race the sprint, when I should be tapering for the HIM. Some people could do it with success I guess, but a week out from a HIM, assuming the half is your A race, you should be taking it relatively easy to be fresh. Hmm, might need to pick another HIM, then. I def want to race the sprint. I have a bunch of friends that are doing that one, and, well, you know how that goes. Bummer. The HIM was by where my mom lives, and she could come watch. Life is all about choices, isn't it? |

Is it advisable to do a HIM a week after a sprint? There's a couple races I'm eyeing June 2 and 7. No. Probably not if you want to do well at the HIM ... I pretty much always say the same thing about races, if you want to just do them for fun and finish (and you have a reasonable hope of doing so without harm to yourself or others), then knock yourself out. But considering the newby-ishness, then ... no. The training and execution of a HIM is a pretty big investment and while you might be prepared to do the sprint under your ability, like as a last long training session (which isn't horrible either) there's always the risk of something happening. Newby-ishness, oh dear. Definitely going to have to put that to rest this year. Well, the goal always was sprints and Olympics this year. Next year is the year for the marathon and HIM. Buuuut, I know I can do all the distances for HIM, just have to string them together. |

For Christmas I bought my DH a membership in a beer of the month club. Each shipment is 12 beers, two different beers from each of two different micro-brews. He received his first shipment last night. It had two types of beer from a small brewery in Omaha that we liked and haven't had since we moved to NM. That was a nice surprise. The other was a micro brewery in Milwaukee. My DH is from Wisconsin and he joked about there being micro's in Milwaukee, the land of the quantity over quality when it comes to beer. Which microbrewery in Milwaukee? I grew up there. Have to say that they have gotten better since I lived in WI. |

Dearest Manatees - old and new friends Well after much soul searching I made the decision yesterday to withdraw from Melbourne Ironman. One thing stands between me and the finish - a bike! ha! I think I'm going to just sit and think, re-evaluate my goals and see where that sets me. I've had an emotional roller coaster ride the last week or so (don't forget to take the Maca powder to New Zealand next time!). Today i'm starting to feel slightly less raw and more balanced - exercise helps funnily. I shall go to swim squad tonight. The relief I feel from making the decision is immense. Yes a little disappointed but not as much as I am relieved. I think i shall tackle some HIM again, do some run races which i love before I make the decision on IM. Maybe Challenge Wanaka January 2014 - but this time I hire a coach and do it properly. I want to thank you all for your support on the journey so far. It's not over by a long shot in fact it's just begun. sorry I've been less than active on here, that won't change for a while - I got some things to sort out personally. Nearly there. I will read everything though every day i promise! And Yanti - I'll see you in March! Love you all. Respect and hugs Manatees. |

I thought about you so much in W Oz, especially at the zoo. Here is something momentous from me ... honestly I can't even think of my phobia without getting phobic and panicky, and it was extremely hard both to do this and to post this ... but I am taking baby baby baby steps toward dealing with it (still too scared to seek help) ... here goes ... I never even caught what they were, I just snapped a pic and RAN!!! Some kind of nocturnal gecko (hence the red light). I tried to take a pic of the fantail geckos (JEEZ it is hard to even type that word!) since they were really fascinating but I got so ookied out I just couldn't. Aww those are super cute! I can't tell you exactly what type they are, as they look kinda like Leopard Geckos, but the tails look wrong, so maybe another desert gecko species. Still, CUTE! |
