I banged out 8+ hours on the trainer today.

Wow! These days I don't even take my trainer out of the closet let alone spend 8 hours on it!

That's why I banged out 8+ hours on the trainer today. I just don't ride outdoors here unless I have a private motorcade escort on closed roads (it's actually cheaper to buy than you'd think, definitely worth it for a group ride).

It was a cool ride. Mentally very tough, physically I felt fairly strong. Opposite of long road rides (to me): physically tough but mentally easy to be occupied and inspired by the surroundings, other riders, focusing on the road, etc.

I cannot imagine the mental fortitude that would have taken!  Do you ride with a fridge beside you stocked full of goodies!

TankBoy - 2012-11-16 3:13 PM Whoof - glad you were able to ride it out to a safe stop Shane. That looks like it could have been nasty...

Crazy!  I think I would have freaked out and gone down for sure.

I play Frogger here every day. It's called "driving in Indonesian traffic on Indonesian roads."

FULL FRONTAL BRAG coming on ...

That's why I banged out 8+ hours on the trainer today.

Huh? Say Wha? that has to be either a) a typo or b) they measure hours differently in Indonesia; are those metric hours you are talking about?

You are stone-cold crazy, Yanti. Stone cold...

Yes, I know I'm crazy, that was there long before the bike who was it advocating over-distance rides for Ironcram? Jason? Rusty? No, I think it was James!

Well, I'm just gonna make another plug for David Greenfield here (also Fred's fitter): no matter how much I tweak freak adjust micro-angle my fit, I always go back to his coordinates.

He seriously has me so comfortable on the bike that I often ride it naked (okay, sports bra absolutely necessary for aero though), especially for shorter rides. I wore the Speedo bottoms (in the avatar) today for 4 hours, then took a break and swapped out to LGs with a thin chamois pad.

I'm seriously considering it. What I might do is start out in the Speedos and put my BT shorts (which are LG actually) which are nearly trashed anyway, but very comfy, in my Special Foods bike bag. If I want to swap out then I can; if not, those shorts are so on their last legs anyway.

Also, I own half a dozen of the Speedo bottoms so no big loss if I toss those, either.

Thank you for making me laugh out loud during a very long, very boring conference call where I had to explain the gufaw.

Is there an address I can send about a case of lube and aquaphor to? You might need it!

I have never done an IM, so I'm not real up to date on the rules, but I think that might incur a variable time penalty.

Smart lady. Okay, I know I'm an alligator, so ...

2 chocolate Pop Tarts with 1c skim milk

2 cup coffee w/splashes skim and a few tbsp sugar

1 Gu Brew (just had some tabs around)

8 mini-individual-wrap Twix

1 package Power Chews

Several handfuls of multigrain Cheerios

And about two bidons of water per hour.

*WAY TOO MUCH INFO WARNING*

Hey, nobody can say they weren't warned

I only have to use lube if I'm wearing tri shorts. Some of the skin, especially around my joints (crotch where legs meet torso, around knees, etc.) is loose and very soft from losing so much weight, and now, with some weight drop (or at least resizing) again, more loose skin.

It's like the Speedo fits nicely into the groove between butt/leg and crotch/leg, while stuffing it all into a pair of tri shorts just makes the skinfolds rub against themselves.

Not TMI. Interesting, actually. Is that weird?

It's odd how different everyone is when it comes to cycling/running and chafing.

Me? Since I discovered Adamo saddles - I have rendered the majority of my cycling shorts useless.

Love love love the ISM I have on my roadie ... I have a Koobie on my tri bike which is very similar, but has a longer nose that's better for "perching" on in aero.

Trainer ride this morning, but it ended early.  Tire is shredded.  I actually meant to change it before hand as I knew it had slim hopes of making it through a ride.  I have another tire I can use but I think I'll break down and get a trainer tire.  Still got 4 out of the 5 intervals in though so not a complete loss on the ride.

Don't spend much time on my mountain; maybe a couple of rides a year.

However, I ride year round so I think the time riding on snow and ice have helped with my handling skills. I also do lots of riding with youth and juniors in pacelines as they are learning how to ride with others so I am quite used to taking evasive action to keep me and them safe which has included a couple of times riding into a ditch and back onto the road.

You guys are a bunch of freaks and I mean that in the nicest way possible.  haha  Yanti that's nuts.  You must have some kind of ninja mind strength.  I don't even sit in my nice leather office chair for 8hrs at a clip without having to move.  Come to think of it, I don't even lay down in my bed for 8hrs most of the time!  Never mind ride a bike.

What's on tap this weekend?

Got a 12 mile run in today.  First time running that far in a long time.  I felt fine but started to get a little thirsty or feel like I needed a Gu or something at the end.  I was going to ride, but it was chilly riding weather and perfect running weather so just went out and made up my route as I went.  Would like to get my run fitness up a little more and maybe run a half marathon in February for a little motivation.
