I'm skeered. It's gonna be cold in my sleeveless wetsuit. the worst part is putting in your hands.. THEN the worst part is your face.. and then you start swimming and you focus on your sighting and you are done. Don't be scarit.. you'll be fine. how warm is it in Kansas??? I swam three weeks ago and it was still SNOWING here. Pehaps only a HTFU is in order. High of 72 today. All I know is that the water in the IMKS lake a week and a half ago was 50 degrees-ish. OK, HTFU-ing. Did you shave your pits yet? Because that was kind of scary, Sasquatch. Saving that for race day. Drag, right? |

HUGE line at the polls this morning... okay I was like fourth in line... the old farts were taking FOREVER to do the electronic polls... OF: "Ummm.... is there only one page on this ballot?" Poll worker: "no... look down at the bottom. You'll see some numbers." OF: I see oh-1-slash-oh-4 PW:Yes, there are four pages. If you are done with that page, push "Next." OF: Where's that? PW: at the bottom. OF: I pushed it... it didn't do anything. PW: Push harder. OF: nothing. PW Push it again. OF: no.... nothing... again nothing... no... NO... oh wait, there it went. PW: Push it again... the green check mark will go away. OF: It didn't PW: do it again. push harder. OF: nope... no... again nothing.. no... NO... Oh wait, there it went. But now I PW: grimace OF: ok... got it. This might not seem so bad... but it happened with EVERY person before me, except the young college student and myself. it was frustrating for everyone... the older folks, the poll workers, and those in line behind the voters. ugh. but I voted. -B |

I was in Kansas at a small-town coffee shop and heard two old guys talking: `Of course I'm going to vote for that Vietnam vet from Arizona. It's either him or the colored fella or that funny-lookin' lady.' The conversation went on for awhile and culminated in: `I hear that colored fella might be a terrorist.' Which is when I jumped up and walked out in disgust. |
