Disagree. There are soooo many factors that go into people playing well consistently. How many NBA guys will play well as a #2?

I really loved Jackson's book Sacred Hoops. There is some malarky in ther about mysticism and such, but a lot of detail about...well it's coaching. That team didn't win every game or championship. Why not, if it's so easy with MJ?

Pippen was such a valuable player they spent the two years after Jordan's reitrement trying to trade him. Without success.

That team won 6 titles in 7 years with Jordan in the lineup (plus the retirement gap). That's as close as you'll ever get to "all of them" in modern sports.

I like minor league ball so much better than major league ball because, A) It doesn't cost $100 for a ticket, B) People dont' take it that seriously, C) You don't have the drunk *jerks* screaming and cussing at a player in front of kids and D) If some stinky, giant, beer-swilling beast sits next to you, you can just move to a different seat without an overzealous usher threatening your life.

Aikidoman - 2008-06-19 12:47 PM Huh? You said he was a debateble allstar, and then you say they you could put any OTHER allstar and they would be AT LEAST as Good?

Pippen = Allstar....

What I said makes sense. At least as good means "equal to or better than", meaning no worse. I think they would have been better. That's just opinion, though. Look at it this way... any guy that throws a tantrum on the sideline and refuses to enter a playoff game in the closing minute deserves to be questioned.

But if you put an allstar in at his spot, and they are as good as him.  He is still not an allstar?  So he has to be BETTER than an allstar in his position to be considered an allstar.  OK.

A mistake about the tantrum - questionable character at times - he also got busted for gun possetion.  But LOTS of great players and coaches of done stupid things like that.  Moss, Bobby Night, I could go on, and on, and on.....  And on....  But they are still some of the best the games have seen.

He's an allstar because he was voted to be one. It doesn't always equate to "one of the best". It often equates to "overrated" too. Happens a lot on championship teams in basketball... better players on losing teams get snubbed and no one remembers. That doesn't make the guy who was on TV more often better - it only means more people saw him because he was on the Bulls.

Moss, Bobby Night, I could go on, and on, and on..... And on.... But they are still some of the best the games have seen.

Neither of those guys refused to play/coach because they weren't getting the ball. There's a difference between a tantrum and refusing to play at the end of a playoff game. Why do you think they tried so hard to trade him after that?

What is the format?  How do they ask questions and is it just the first person to yell it out?

what are the questions usually about?

I like trivia night, but sometimes it makes me feel silly.  The answer is always just on the tip of my tongue, but alas, I'm too slow.  My favorite phrase during trivia night?  "Dang!  I KNOW that answer, hmmmmmmm".

The best format I played is they ask and everyone puts an aswer down on paper and turns it it for scoring.  It takes a while, but it sooooo much fun.

Teams of 8 or less. 3 rounds, 10 questions per round. Round 1 is worth 1 point each, round 2 2 points, round 3 3 points... and the questions get harder each round. A guy asks the questions over a PA system, and your write the answers. He collects the answer sheets each round and scores them. Top 3 teams win gift certificates.

Questions are about pretty much anything. Current events, sports, history, movie taglines, company mottos, song lyrics. There's one in round 2 that he calls "Pirate, Pirate, or Senator" where he says a name, and you have to know whether the guy was a Pittsburgh Pirate, a pirate of the seas, or a Current US Senator. He does true and false questions about totally random things, stuff like that. It's a lot of fun.

That's the format I like....  Time to drink!  The TV trivia is not nearly as fun.....

I'm usually pretty good at yelling stuff out. I remember a lot of random crap about biology and art history that I learned in school.  What I can't do is American sports or American History..

Sadly, most Americans can't either.....  But that's for a thead of it's own that I won't be starting.

So last night bricked nearly the whole course for my first tri next month. Did the whole bike and the whole run. I paced it so I could get an idea of how hard the whole thing would be and really I had tons left in the tank at the end. I think I'm ready and all training for the next three weeks is just bonus.

I neeeeever could have done that three months ago.

Song lyrics I'm pretty good at.. pirate, pirate or senator sounds hilarious, but I would fail...

There is a radio bit I have heard that does something like "real name or porn star name" and you have to guess.....  funny.

Everyone makes up ridiculous team names too. Last week we were "Hairy nipple syndrome sucks.... just ask Traci (one of the girls there with us)".

One team is always "The guy who asks these questions is a moron."

hahaha!
