dalessit - 2010-12-20 11:57 AM GRR, venting a bit.

Our 6 year old found a tiny crappy promotional pocket knife in the house this weekend, the kind with the plastic cover with the tiny knife, scissors and file in it.

I thought about it on the way to school this morning and asked him if he had brought it with him.  In front of me he put his hands in all his pockets and said nope, I didn't bring it with me.

When he was getting out I told him if he happend to "find" it in his pockets to leave it there as he was not allowed to have it at school.  He said ok.

Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago.  Sam got a call from the school that he was found using the scissors in class cutting paper.

Arlington like all other schools these days have a zero tolerance policy about things like that but since he was just using the scissors they aren't going to suspend him.  Sam is going by the school to see if she can get the principal or vice principal to have a "fear of god" chat with him.

I am so freaking angry right now, I have a few hours to plan out the long and painful punishment he has coming.  Been a rough week of back talk, arguing, not listening etc, he missed a visit to Santa last night that our daughter got to go to due to him being a PITA....

thanks for the vent.  We should have just stuck with cats and dogs, much easier to deal with.

we've had a few issues here as well.  not listening, getting other peoples space, etc.  we think we've turned a corner and are finally settling in.   hang in there.  use some of that time to chill to, you've had rough go of it this week with being sick and no workouts and all this jazz. and remember the sh*t we used to do, ha!

Very true but when I got caught my parents whipped my a$$...

you ain't lying.

Just wait until they are teen-agers.  Boy are ya all in for a treat. Laughing

As one of my buddies always quotes, "Didn't you know that is the reason why God makes them teenagers ..... so you are not sad when they leave home."

Tony, you have my sympathies....been there, still doing that.  It waxes and wanes.  Few more years, and you can yank car keys and cell phones.  Hubby swears the problem is that we never beat the cr*p out of him, like our parents did.  He may have a point, who knows.

My mom always said 'God gives you 13 years to fall in love, then he turns them into teenagers'.

Hi everyone.  Interesting reading these last few pages.

I guess I'm the second youngest in the group at 35.

Linda - congratulations (is that the right thing to say in these circumstances?  Undecided)

Trevor - very cool bike.

Rats - hmmm, all I know about rodents is what we do with them in the lab.

Doug - happy running

Kids - my Doug asked me if our oldest had started menstruating (she's almost 10.) She burst into tears at horse back riding and didn't know why. He is not going to handle girl puberty well.

Speaking of Santa elves, I thought you guys would get a kick out of this photo.  This came racing by at Doug's CX race this weekend.  Mind you it was in the 30s and frozen ground.

aaaak.  not a rodent person.  CLARK, we need you!!!

Don't worry...they don't eat much!

RIP, Sweet Scabbers.

Daughter might be getting her own rats for Christmas -- we haven't decided yet if it will be rats or another small pet of her choosing. And yeah, they don't eat much!

Rats and mice are very smelly beasts. You have to continually be cleaning out their cages I would suggest gerbil or hamster or something of that ilk just for the smell factor.

Oh Yeah nice ride Trevor.

Some say triathletes are very smelly beasts too! Laughing

Hey Twin, whatever happened to all that mental training? a movie? COME ON!

Yeah, not feeling very Warrior-like these days.  Dad's been in the hospital since last week and I am feeling very little motivation to train, especially with all of the rain lately and dark mornings, rushing back and forth to help mom, etc.

I used my Ipod on the treadmill run Saturday morning at 5am...it actually helped me alot.  I am going to take what I can get right now.  If music or a movie helps me get through a workout right now, so be it.

Trying to stay upbeat for my parents but it's been tough.

Hi gang - well the good news is we still have 2 kids.  Neither Tony nor I rang/ringed (no idea on the correct english there) his neck yesterday.  I had a good talk w/ the principal.  Thank goodness he decided to use his own judgement in this situation not that suspension would have been the end of hte world but we are handling the punishment.  And he did get called into the principal's office later that day for "a talk."

Funny but I think he knew he screwed up b/c he accepted the punishment w/o much fuss and was the sweetest little boy last night.

Talk to us. What's the issue?? What are you trying to do with the set?

I always forget to do things other than 25's or 75's to end up at the other end of the pool... good on ya for switching things up a bit!

i'm not really sure what the deal is.  its just odd stopping or having to remember to stop at a certain end.  on the 125 i was off a couple times, noticed an additional length time on my watch.  and i don't like stopping at the opposite end from wear i start from, and everyone else.  this is my 3rd or 4th workout with them, so maybe it just takes some time.   but you're right in the sense that its nice to change it up a bit.

YES!   Birdy - you've signed up, haven't you?!?  Please?!!

John - I'm with ya.  I HATE 25/75 sets, it confuses the heck out of me.  The clocks at our pool aren't synched on either end, so that just adds to the confusion.  So, I just don't do them.  Jeff has a habit of starting his 100 IM sets at the other end, so I go along with that, but it feels weird, too.  Oh, well.......

I think the correct usage is 'wrung' his little neck!!   Glad it worked out.  Our PITA got off his plane this morning and proceeded to blame us for the bumpy ride, the weather, and the fact that he couldn't remember which final he had first today.  LOVELY.  Ready to send him back to LA.

Christmas countdown.......2 parties today, some wrapping in between.  Santa has definately gotten carried away here.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this group never seems to be CLOSED FOR BUSINESS, even the in the 'off-season'.  I am glad to hear it is going another season.

I am looking at plan options to start training right after my half marathon in mid-January.  I can not decide if I am a beginner or intermediate.   I feel like I am both.

And to that the stranger that goes by the name of Andy.....good to see you back!
