Good morning gang - I need some Math help.  I've tried to figure this out but it is starting to hurt my head.

Today's run workout has a set of 4 x 600m at my 2 mile TT pace which is 7:45.  So what pace should I run my 600s?  There is 0.37m in 600m if that helps.

My edit:  A cup of coffee does wonder for the brain.  So I came up with 2:54 for a 600m pace.  I figured out that each 400m is 1:56 so each 200m is 0:58 and 3 of those equals 2:54.  So someone please tell I'm not stupid and can still handle basic math.

And continuing on the music note, I am totally not a country or western fan but there are some good songs from that genre.  Here are a couple I was thinking about - anyone have any other classics/suggestions.  Can you tell I'm on a music kick?!?!

- Waylon Jennings, Don't Let Your Mamas Grow Up To Be Cowboys
- Charlie Daniels, Devil Went Down to Georgia
- Johnny Cash, Hurt, Ring of Fire
- Willie Nelson, Good Hearted Woman
- Kenny Rogers, Gambler (actually his entire greatest hits album is pretty good)
- Garth Brooks, Friends in Low Places, Rodeo (maybe not classics but I like them)
- Toby Keith Red, White, and Blue (new but a good kick USA song)

I know there are a bunch more but I am terrible matching up songs and artists.

Just to second what Suzy said, if you're doing Rev3 Knoxville, you might want to make sure you get your hotel in.  Hotels have their "special event" pricing going, i.e. expensive.

Last night I ran into a former student of mine at the pool. It was very awkward standing in a wet bathing suit talking to a guy I remember as a 17 year old.  I felt like a total Cougar!!!!

Too funny and what about those old gals from country - Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.  They have to have some good stuff.
Looks like I have to do some scanning on iTunes over the weekend.

And if we are also on the topic of just good music.  I am a huge Lyle Lovett and Jonny Lang fan.

Ha! I was gonna figure it out for you based on 1600/800/400/200 times (then 200x3), but I hadn't had coffee yet and wanted to get off to do my workout. I always break track workouts down to 200's or 400's so I can glance and check my pace as I go around. Hope the workout goes/went well!

Sugar. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr baby. You'll always be just a sweet young thang to me you're not old enough to be a cougar. You must be a puma in training.

I know there was something about running and songs but can't remember what it was all about I guess that brings me up to date.

My WO playlist is over 255 songs. I dont think it makes sense to post the list here (too long) and there are at least 122 artists. The oldest is Elvis Prestley and the newest is Cee-Lo Green. The most include 10 Bruce Springsteen, 9 REM, 9 Dave Edmunds, 6 Beatles, 6 the Alarm, 6 Counting Crows and 6 Elvis Costello. I have one country song (Kim Ritchey) and at least 2 insturmentals.

MG Team,

SO I have 30+ pages of catching up to do; I guess there has been a lot going on over the last 2ish weeks. Though I have been MIA, I have managed to get nearly 100% of my workouts in; the blog updates is a different issue. Between the freezing cold of Minneapolis/ Chicago and the warmth of Hong Kong and Singapore, I somehow found a pool, bike or track.

I hope everyone’s training/ racing is going well!

I love Burn It To The Ground... I usually hit repeat on that one a couple of time on a hard long run.

I do the same with Misery Business by Paramore.

I just love the Justin Timberlake and Beyonce dance number to that song!  So awesome when celebrities can have a little laugh at themselves.

Let's have someone you tube it, Andre and post for us.  We won't show anyone else!

woops!  Foot in mouth  This is what I get for not going back a few pages and checking!

Then thank you, Kim, for such wonderful advice!

You are so welcome, Erica!  Glad that you had a good swim! I took my own advice today at masters and had a really good 500, for me anyways...then went on to practice a little catch up drill with bilateral breathing remembering to blow out fully on that weak left side of mine and it was very helpful.  So many things to remember when swimming...taking one thing each time and focusing on that seems to help me the most.

All of these music lists are terrific, btw!

DougRob - 2011-01-24 6:41 AM FYI: I hate cow pose!

Is this a yoga thing?  I feel like if it has something to do with a cow, I should know about it!

Suzy, that made me laugh!  I was wondering the same thing myself?  MOOOO!

It is a yoga pose. I just don't seem to bend this way!

Doug, you must have ESP!  After my bike today, my left hip flexor was a bit aggravated and I thought, why don't I try Doug's cow pose.  It stretched it out and then some.  So much better!  Thank you.  Funny, the legs were easier on the side the arms were harder and vice versa!  I will add it to my repertoire.

Glad it helped! I was talking to my wife about this pose last night and in no time at all she sits on the floor and does it including holding her hands behind her back! Argh!!!!

Greetings Peeps from Paris.  Got here earlier today after an overnight flight.  Didn't get a workout in today but did climb a good portion of the Eiffel Tower (upper most part was closed) so gave the legs some exercise after the 8 hour flight.  Tomorrow I head to Morocco...first time there (or anywhere in Africa for that matter) so it should be interesting.  Turn around and head home Friday so it will be a very quick trip.

Music...I will add one old school song - Rock Box - Run DMC...has a great beat that causes me to pick up the pace (and secretly gives me the urge to break dance again!).

Country - blech...that is probably the one music genre that I don't care to listen to.  Just can't get into it.

Kyla and Erica - Rent is my favorite all time broadway show.  Love that soundtrack, although not for working out to.

Lots of other good stuff you guys have posted for me to pick through!!
