I still think a dude winding up in your lane is crazier.

Yeah and swimming backstroke of all things.  Hope his nose got a cheese grater on the lane line.

Re: quads

Thanks guys you made my day.  I assume you were referring to that pic w/ my daughter a couple years ago in my profile.  I think they get a bit heavy on the run sometimes though

Good Lord!!!  I just had to look.  I'm pretty proud of my quads as well...maybe Jason's have something in common.  But I think you got me beat.  I had to find the right picture, with the right lighting just to even feel worthy of posting...lol.

100 swim
6x25 - 1. First 10m fast, 2. Last 5m fast
4x50 negative split
300 swim with chute
4x75 fins - 25m Uw, 25m Kick on back, 25m Swim with fast turnover
2x400 - 1. Pull with buoy and band, 2. 100 kick with fins, 100 swim with fins

3 x (100 stroke on 1:50, 50 free, 50 stroke both on :50, 100 free on 1:50
2 x (200 IM on 3:40, 100 free, 100 IM both on 1:50, 200 free on 3:40)

I'll post a video if I can get another one sometime.  Our pool has a no camera rule though so kinda tricky.

edited to clarify the 4x75

Oh man...I don't know if I could handle a workout that complex unless I had someone telling me to do it...LOL.

I would never in a million years come up with that on my own, let alone decide to inflict it upon myself willingly!  Swim coach dreamed all of that up.  I should add that I got out and the kids were still going with another 1 x 300/150/150/300 set at the end of it.

A first for me.  last night at masters, near the end of themain set, I am swimming along in the fast lane and BAM, I hit something.  I see stars, not sure if I pass out a little, wonder what I hit, the guy ahead of me?  An elbow from the next lane?   Nope, guy in the next lane coming off an open turn into backstroke pushes off his wall, UNDER the lane line and into my lane, where the back of his head hits my forehead, both going full speed.  Some blood, a nice bumo, some good bruising.  Being on thinners doesn't help either, as a head injury and brain bleed fall into the "definitely not good" category.

Spent an uncomfortable night waking up often so my wife could check on me for both concussion and bleed symptoms.  Have a small but persistent headache, but everything else seems to be fine.  Neck a little jacked as my head got pushed down.  Forehead hurts to the touch.

WTF, how does someone push off into ANOTHER lane entirely???????  The guy was very apologetic, and he felt bad, but still.

I was bummed as I had forced myself back into the fast lane and was swimming at an uncomfortable (but good) pace.  Wont be running today, just to be conservative about it

Holy cow, that's disgusting. You poor poor thing. With runny blood too.

I had a guy do that to me because he was wearing a WATCH during swim practice--watch to Yanti's forehead. Who does that?

I still think a dude winding up in your lane is crazier.

Ummmm, yep. Been there and wore the watch. To masters. I didnt have a clue. Fortunately I didn't gouge anyone and was told in no uncertain terms to leave the %#€£ thing on the deck. Just one of many things I was clueless about. However, I have never crossed lanes on a turn. That is special. Chris, hope the headache subsides. Night watch for head injuries is no fun.

You don't have pools in the middle of the Tonto Forest. You have pumas. Should have bought bells.

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to make a group list so we can all copy it into our logs? My log is semi private so if you can't see it let me know I will add you as a friend.

Saw the list...but how to do this???  Thanks!

Running/shoe question for the group. Does anyone run trails? if so do you use a trail specific shoe? I am currently wearing the Newton Distance U and happy with them. I've been doing some of my short runs on a trail alongside a river and it is a bit uneven/sloppy. I'm thinking a sturdier trail shoe might be worth considering.

For me it depends on the trail.  Most of the time I don't care but if I am going to be on a rocky uneven trail for most my run I will put trail shoes on.  If for no other reason then to stop getting rocks stuck in the heal of my shoe.  We don't get mud here so can't speak to that.

I have New Balance Trail Minimus that i use on wet trails or trails with water crossings. I have Pearl Izumi Peak II that i use on rough, rocky cactus-filled terrain. Is don't use them on well-groomed trails though.

I wish I ran trails more, but for now, I just use my regular running shoes -- Saucony Pro Grid. But I think a trail shoe would be better. The traction and water draining is fine on the Sauconys but in my trail race a few weeks ago, I hit my toe on a rock, and my toe is still bothering me a little. I would like to get a trail shoe with toe/heel guards.

Most of my trail running includes a good bit of pavement, running to and from and/or in between various trails, so I use normal shoes.  I try to dedicate one pair, however, as they get pretty gross.

Wow, this thread moves fast I can read at work but not post (too time consuming on the tablet).

I am also a Quadzilla. People are always commenting on my big thigh muscles, which, as a female, I never quite know whether to take as a compliment. I had one guy recently tell me (at one of my kid's football games) that he has spent the past 6 months in the gym and can't get quads like mine. At least they are useful for cycling but I kind of miss the skinny runners legs that I grew up with!

I'm with the shoes that are dedicated for trail running - just normal runners (Asics Kayano) that I'm okay if they get crudded up (and they tend to sit in the garage if truly messy).

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a 5 day trip to my parents for the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta with my family. I don't anticipate much training going on (besides, it's about a mile higher in altitude), and even less time spent on a computer. At the rate ya'll are going - should be up to page 40-45 by the time I get back, eh?

Chris - you could turn that into a really cool Halloween costume! Sorry that happened...it always seems to hurt more when it's totally unexpected.

Have a great holiday weekend all!

I intended for a long time to get trail shoes and didn't out of laziness. I've been running (about 3-5 times a month) on some very windy, hilly, uneven, trails for nearly two years, now, and I guess I don't need the trail shoes.  Occasionally I think they might be nice, though.

So question for the folks who are considering Quassy vs. Eagleman next June?

I just found out Dream Chaser is doing Eagleman and want to know your preferences as to which one to go for. As you know I am looking also for a Vegas slot next year and would actually prefer two chances to do it (IMMT 70.3 is one I am up for).

James, and everyone in the group contemplating the races let me know your thoughts?

I'm contemplating Eagleman, although I'll have already raced two 70.3 races by that point, so maybe too much.  But it's a race I've wanted to do for a while, and next year would be a good time for me to do it.

Fred, sounds like your reason for Eagleman is to chase the Vegas spot.  As a venue Quassy just sounds more enticing (this is purely my opinion based on descriptions of the courses).  I'm still looking to do Quassy but will need to wait a little later in the year to commit - the wife is not too keen on the idea of an 8 hour drive (so I may be out irregardless).

I have a local flat, fast HIM that's just a couple of weeks into June as well, but I don't know that it's nearly as appealing.  That said, I'm not in a position to go after a Vegas spot, and that might change my perspective.
