After my request to reach out, most of the responses were from TANers.

That's all well and fine......but for those times when you really want to go off on someone......I'm here for you.

Thanks for the offer, but I try not to do that.

Though, in some 35k posts, I'm sure you can find an example where I did that.  I could probably point you in the right direction if need help finding proof I'm a hypocrite.  I'm far from perfect.

Welp, for what it's worth....I think it's much ado about nothing.  I figure going in that some people will like and some will not like whatever I post.  I figure my style will probably ruffle some feathers and even hurt some feelings.  I try not to outright offend.....but I'm sure I do at times because some people are more easily offended than others.  I can't really say I dislike anyone on this site.....because I have only met one member.  It would never occur to me to like or dislike someone based on what I see written here......there are just way too many variables in writing styles to make a fair judgement.  One thing I know most of us do is read a post using our own voice......and alot of times our own inflections, predjudicies, likes, dislikes, and so on come through in that voice, which may have nothing to do with what the poster was trying to convey and more to do with our own issues.

I suspect I'll rub some folks the wrong way yet......as will all of you.  A thicker skin goes alot further on these boards than trying to be nice all of the time.....at least that's been my experience.

My 8 year old son had to come home from school a couple of hours ago. I'm in pain, on drugs, and my 8 year old was sent home from school (the principal called my wife about an altercation and then my wife called my eldest son at the H.S. to pick up my 8 year old).  Some other 8 year old boy walked up to my 8 year old son while waiting in the lunch line (they are in the same class and were a few kids away from each other waiting in line), used a closed fist, and then smacked my son in the tummy.  My boy told the other boy to stop, then my boy retaliated by punching the other boy in the stomach.

We've talked, and will talk some more about the altercation.  My son didn't start anything or give the other kid reason to do what he did.

I called my wife, my son's teacher (wasn't informed at that time yet), and the (new) principal.

This is not a good day.  This has not been a good week.  Thank GAWD it's Friday.

I think I'll take another percocet to really get away from reality right now.

Spot on LB.  I agree 100%.

I'm TRYING to bring some understanding/perspective/balance to the issue, but I don't think it's working or it's too late.  AND, working this hard to smooth things out for a topic, as you say (and I agree), "much ado about nothing" is getting VERY old.  Probably worked at it too hard already.

As for ME.  I probably lean/(error?) too far to keep it peaceful, and need a thicker skin at times.

I have said this just about everyone, that sitting around a table with a couple beers, no one would seem nearly as evil/vindictive as assumed on the internet based on a few posts.

What really sucks is the schools protect the bully and the kid who defends himself gets sent home. It makes no sense.

Random observation for the day:

Running through a family neighborhood on my mid-day run I saw way too many candy wrappers discarded by last night's trick-or-treaters. It was worse than Gu wrappers after a marathon!

Yeah, it's like sports.  It's usually the SECOND guy that get's the penalty for reacting.  It's the only one they see.

I'm sorry that I did not include/mention that the other boy was sent home, too.  The other boy did change his story a couple of times in the Principal's office when he was being questioned and lied.  It is known that my son is a good kid with no priors (sounds like foreshadowing for a cop show or something), and a couple of other kids were asked about the incident and confirmed that my son did not start anything.

The ladies I passed today looked more like recent empty-nesters instead of the "baby cart jogging" hot mommies that I see along the coastal running trail on the weekends.

I think I'll take another percocet to really get away from reality right now.

Gooby dah vishny hagertyboshnee.  Wooshie wooshie vronk.

Be good, y'all.

I might recommend a double bourbon with that Percocet? Just an option....

Surrrrrrrre,  I'll TOTALLY disregard the warning about having alcohol and taking that pill at the same time.

You think I'm really bad NOW, just wait for that to happen!

OK; you're a jack and coke guy. I guess if you're a wimp, feel free to dilute.

No Jack but Jim if I do drink something since I'm more of a "social" drinker having to nurse my drinks.  My (lame excuse of a) dad was an alcoholic and my brother has been a recovering alcoholic for close to 30 years.  I didn't follow in their footsteps.

However, this percocet stuff is dksfjvvk  kjsavjcoe   wkejv as j;kj;ejiaj  wlekjeacj;lk j.  You know what I mean??  ;-)

I've been watching Mad Men lately, and I don't see how those guys can drink bourbon the way they do.  I wouldn't last 10 minute in that show.

Had a couple doubles of Michter's small batch bourbon on the rocks tonight (speaking of Bourbon). Hell of a week.

Is that show as good as they say? I wondered if I should Netflix that.

I love mad men.  the action is slow but the writing and acting are brilliant.
