Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread OK DC/VA/MD Barlow-folk...this Saturday we will ride! The question is WHERE? I'm on call 3-11 so I have to be within 1 hr of the hospital should one of my lovely co-workers decide to call off sick on the weekend (or all hell break loose and they want my presence to help hold back the angry mob in the waiting room) I'm happy to pull off the ride route from my tri last month, we could do it a few times-it's low/flat with a few rolling hills. I'm sure noone really wants to drive 2 or more hours for a short ride (that's why I'm suggesting a few rides round the route) I'd be happy to provide a cooler full of water bottles and string cheese You guys can PM me with ideas if you want if you can think of other places. I'll also check with my friend at work, she may know of a good place I can't think of since I'm such a rookie-newb (lol) I got a ride in on the FUJI this morning before running it up to the shop. He said he might have it ready by tomorrow, Wed. at the latest (gee, on the phone she told me 4 days) Missed abs class and strength training to do it since I had so many errands to run (as in NO FOOD in the house for people or cats and all were getting ugly about that) Oh fearless leader, my logs are current |

I'm fine with getting up early. I don't know where we would ride, so I'll leave that up to the rest of you. |

Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread K, folks. The sky is looking iffy, but what I think I might do is do a mini "indoor" triathlon - like 400 swim, jump on the stationary and spin like a madwoman for maybe half an hour and then run a mile and a half or so. See how I hold up - to see how I am doing all three sports in a row, for any length of time. I know the bike isn't quite close, but it's better than nothing. Plus, I can get used to spinning in preparation for all those fun hills. Edited by wurkit_gurl 2007-07-16 4:53 PM |

It's in the northwestern suburbs of Richmond, not too far from 295 S so it should be a fairly straight hop down once you've waded through traffic. At least you don't have the bridges to cross, that adds tons of time to the trip (sorry, Josh). We could meet up at Shady Grove YMCA which is where the loop starts. They'll probably be setting up for the race on Sunday (I opted to pass on this one since my NY race is so close). If you guys are interested, we could do the brick and run the 5 K course as well--depends on how many times we ride the course though. I'll still check with my friend Susan though, she may have a better option. Judi |

Would love to scan in my before/after pics but DH says he has no clue how to get them on a post and I'm more than challenged at computer stuff. Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Just did a mini-tri at the gym - see log for deets. Got ride #4 in, even though it was on the stationary. Alas. But I think it was good for me to try to simulate doing the three events as close to one another as possible. Transition from swim to bike took longest cuz I change. Bike to run was just a sprint to other side of gym and hop upstairs onto the track. I didn't record transition times though. |

Master 3546 Millersville, MD | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Nice job bumping us to page 7 wurkit! Go string cheesers! I also snuck in a ride (1:15) tonight for the challenge, which has been logged. This was a roller. So far, 1 time trial, 2 rollers, and 1 mountain stage complete. I have guests this weekend, so I won't be able to travel all the way down to richmond. I understand zipps constraints with work. Can we work on wurkit's plan for the 21st? I'm sure there are lots of places between NoVa and Fredericksburg we could ride, which would be much closer to halfway for the northern and southern contingent (and wurkit lucks out!). If you guys do ride - have a great time. I'll be riding, but closer to home since I need to get out and back before the regular folks wake up around 9:00. Edited by JoshKaptur 2007-07-16 9:01 PM |

That's still a hike to Arlington area... Let me know what the plan is cause if you're riding up your way I'll refigure my workouts (missed abs class the past couple weeks so I could use the Sat AM abs class!) Judi |

Barloworld Blasts its Sound Bites: JoshKaptur blasts his first tri despite a flat and chain dislocation. The next week, he signs up for Savageman HIM and bikes its crazy course--reputed to be the hardest 1/2 course ever.sf_biggestloser has a deer blast his bike on the way to a tri and does it anyway on a borrowed bike. Has since been doing TdF challenge, sans bike, on a stationary. wurkit gurl blasts a training PR—a 1:12:40 split for 15.93mi on a hilly, technical ride. Does a sim-tri at the gym. DMarkSwan is blasting away at the challenge despite his wife imminently producing a Mini-Mark, or BarloBaby. zipp1 blasts through the water on her first open-water swim! DoloresM2 blasts through her first brick … without blasting her legs! TriAya blasts out her longest ride ever—including a 16-mile leg in :50:00 on a bike with cruiser bars.

Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread I see wingdings too, Josh. I think it's TriAya's computer, or something. Sad Also sad that I'm doing pitifully with time ridden and rides accomplished - stupid kitchen ruined that. That's okay, I'll be sure to get in some longer ones this weekend. Sad that I won't be able to ride the last weekend of the challenge. Can't really get in too many long rides before/after work due to that thing called sunlight. Speaking of riding this weekend? Where do we all want to ride? I really don't know the good cycling routes around here as I'm new to the sport and have basically stayed on the W&OD and some of the other paved trails around here. |

Per my earlier message, I'm out for a group ride this weekend... but I assure you that with just a short trip south, there are lots of good riding routes available. A half hour in the BT route planner will have you a great ride squared away. Edited by JoshKaptur 2007-07-17 1:00 PM |

Explorer--Wingdings. Will re-post in Explorer). WHAT A KICK @$$ DAY FOR SUPER SWIFT NEWBIES BARLOWORLD!!!!! JUAN MAURICIO SOLER HERNANDEZ!!! DoloresM2 and I watched Stage 9 from my place (she watched the end, was taking a break in the middle of her 12 mile run ... ugh) ... it was so funny, the announcers just kept trying to get his name right, then would revert to calling him "The Colombian." It is clearly the energetic, enthusiastic, go-for-broke juju tone we're setting here that is causing all these incredible Barloworld victories. VIVA LA COLOMBIA! Havin' a great cup of Colombian joe in celebration as I type ...

However, now I have very little reason to watch the full coverage when I get home tonight. That is usually something I really look forward to. Would you please not spoil it for us again in the future? I realize the information is out there for all to see, but if you were to refrain until the next day I would appreciate it. |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread I didn't mean my reply to be nasty or elitist in anyway. I was very sorry to have seen the spoiler and wanted to let you know, albeit if a bit sarcastically. I enjoy cycling (both doing and watching) but am not at all superior. I am a big fan of ALL riders, on all kinds of bikes. Even the guy who rides along smoking a cigarette because it's better than not riding at all. I feel that knowing who wins takes the suspense out of it. Now I know who will be in the breakaways, who won't be able to keep up, etc. Knowing the finish actually effects many things along the way. Your ex boyfriend could probably kick my butt cycling any day. I am just saying that I enjoy watching the coverage and knowing the result ruins it for me. Much like knowing the result of the basketball game, etc., ruins the fun of watching for many (but not all of course) people. I didn't intend to get into a fight about it. Just thought that maybe a nice person would take it into consideration and possibly not do it again. wurkit_gurl - 2007-07-17 2:23 PM Oops, TriAya.
