Its been super interesting reading everyone's posts re. joining BT and mentor groups experiences. I joined 3 years ago, got with a pretty SLOW mentor group, then joined a busier group, and then joined the manatees and haven't looked back (truly, if I look back, I lose, like 20 pages!!!)...I have never been lucky enough to meet any manatees or other BT-ers for that matter, though I would certainly be happy to give any of you a tour of the zoo!

In other news, my dad got to go home today. According to my mom, they removed a bunch of fluid from him, and she is DETERMINED to make sure they BOTH eat really healthy---with her massive veggie garden that she has gotten going, I have no doubt that she will succeed with her plans. She emailed me and let me know all of that as well as her thinking that my father is actually scared enough to change (fingers crossed)--I replied and asked if there was any mention about his needing to be more active, including the thoughts of doing upper body stuff and swimming. I also told her that my gym is cheap and the pool is clean, so fingers crossed for possibilities there too.

In other other news, I forgot to mention yesterday (in lieu of dad stuff), I picked up my cap and gown and got all the stuff needed for sending out grad announcements; I also joined the alumni association! (that needed special coloration) Only 1 month and 21 days to go!!! (and 1 month and 16 days to go til my biggest race this year--Auburn Oly. Tri.)

Well that's all very exciting - graduation!  A cap and a gown!  An Alumni Association!  Whatever that is..

And your A race.

My first mentor group was rubbish to be perfectly honest, I think I was the only active member!  Then of course I spoke to Yanti in Melbourne at the special needs bike aid station and a relationship was born...from then I had to join the Manatees....I will never leave.

I really don't exactly know what an alumni association is/does---BUT---I got a t shirt, a license plate frame, and $5 off my cap and gown. I think they said something about discounts and stuff but I saw the swag and tuned out... Cool

Wooooot too!  So awesome that all your work is coming to fruition!  I'm glad your mom is so determined to get them both healthy too!

Had another great run tonight in my taper.  Three easy 8:00 miles.

I'm going to start some speedwork after the HM so I can shift to my next goal, which is a sub-20 5k.  Anyone have advice on how to do that?

Run fast??? Innocent

Well Tom, I think that you just got that FANTASTIC piece of advice you were looking for.

Good to hear that your mom is serious with your dad's "rehab".  Sounds like he's lucky to have her around...fresh veggies? oh, yeah!

So much happening for you in such a short time. Wow! Only good times, and lots of scheduling, in the next couple of months.

Lovin' the pop tart kitty, and so will Yanti. lol

I'm going between a screen with an OWS 800/12.4/5k sprint  or a reverse 3.3mi/14.5/400pool "maxi" sprint. Ugh...decisions, decisions.

And what's with all the different sprint designations? Mini...maxi...super...and none of the distances seem "automatic" with the title. Swim and bike distances are all over the place. sheesh.

Since it has been awhile since I updated a picture of Pikatti, here is a collage of him. The lower left was at 7 weeks old, lower right is 11 weeks old. One the lower left he is under the same chair he is sitting in front of on the lower right. The top is just one of him napping.

Pikatti

I am looking forward to him being able to run, but I know that is a few months away. For now enjoying the break from everything in taking him for walks.

Thanks, but unfortunately, it is in the northern part of the state. And my Saturday has been given to a fundraiser for the Homeless Coalition here. It is a nice golf outing, The Barstool Open. Yes, Salty, 9 bars, mini golf, and it is all for a good cause. It may put a crimp  in my training plan, but as I said, it is for a good cause

I think that sprint just means shorter than Olympic distance.  I don't think that there is any standard other than that!
