The following week is both the Santa Fe run (up 6 mi, down 6 mi) and the Denver Hot Chocolate (5k or 15k). Leaning toward Santa Fe on that one buuuuut I'd have to drive to Denver right after. OTOH, if I do the Hot Chocolate 5k it's an easier race after which I would have to get in a car and drive home

The XC race sounds like it would be a lot of fun.  There is a big high school XC invitational up here where they have an open race and I always thought it would be fun to relive my glory days.  I was undefeated in my first year of high school XC before tearing my hamstring many, many years ago.  I was never quite the same.

There is a big XC invitational right after the 5k. I'm looking forward to sticking around to watch that.

Do the Santa Fe - you know you want to!

DH and I just signed up for races next Sat.  He's doing a 30 mi. all-kinds-of-terrain bike ride and I'm doing a hilly 4 mi. run, both put on the same day at the same place.  I've come down with a major case of lackofmotivationitis so having another race in a pretty and challenging venue will be good for me.  I've been wanting to race with him and am glad to see him signing up for something, even if it isn't the same race I'm doing.  He's planning to do MTB Rebecca Rusch's Rebecca's Private Idaho 100 mi. ride next year so this race will be a good mini-practice ride to get him started.  Ain't NO way I'm gonna do RPI but I'll be happy to sherpa for him.

Awesome! Is he doing the whole training thing or "just" the century?

Sounds like a fun race for next weekend. Where is the race?

I was just looking at the Santa Fe race location. I'd considered doing a short recon run today but it's way way out of town so I'll wait until I have a longer run on tap.

He just told me he's going for the "Small Fry", which is 60 mi., then maybe going to do the "Big Potato" sometime in the future.  Either way, it looks like a major party.  They even have a prize akin to the Lanterne Rouge.  The last rider in gets the "Baked Potato" award.  Steve, Salty, and Kirsten, you should consider coming over to join us.  Could be a lot of fun and there's evidently really good beer.

The race next weekend is in Castle Pines just south of Denver so I'm hoping it'll be really pretty.

I can handle being humbled by a race but I think this would be humiliation in my case.  I'll have to look up last years DFL and see how I stack up.

Saw a bumper sticker this morning, "The older you get, the better you were."   Actually, I'll bet you're better now than you think.

Thanks Mary for your confidence.  I took that to a last minute, small trail 5k yesterday and took first OA.  It was a great experience that I'll write up soon.

Great job on the run Steve and I'm glad your race went well Chris.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend. I wrote a training plan for K to get her from daily 30 minute walk to run/walking a 12k in May. We are going to go slowly, slowly to start with cause this is the first step in her Dopey challenge adventure. I really want her to enjoy it and not get injured.

PSA - There is an interesting thread in COJ.  "Where have all the BTers gone" or some such name.  Some of you have had the discussion before, and others may want to chime in.

Proof of life post.  It's been a crazy 2 weeks with/for Dad/me, as new issues have popped up and his health has declined some.  It's too exhausting and long to go into details, but he got admitted to the hospital yesterday which is really where he needs to be right now to get some of his many issues cared for.  Of the 3 day weekend, I did manage to have about 1.5 days of fun, spending time out back on my patio by the chiminea with my best friend Sat. night and miraculously getting to spend all day (a whole day!) Sunday outside, running then kayaking.  Monday was spent in the hospital all day.

'Yaking is the answer, no matter what the question may be!  I'm glad you got some enjoyment in, as it appears there were some challenges as well. I hope today is a bit more peaceful for you.

I find the whole discussion to be kind of ironic, in that the original post states that he had "been away for a while" and now the long timers are gone.  Dude, you've answered your own question.  People come and go.  It's the circle of life on the internet.  Then the thread dissolved into the yearly "what's wrong with BT" discussion and I just had to stuff my 2 cents in there.

There were some interesting points about banning people (overzealous?) and the lack of good mobile support.
