Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official ThreadYes, I am slow to get back to the thread and will reiterate what most of you fellow first-timers have already said. I left PCB Monday morning and stopped in New Orleans overnight (gotta have the Cafe Du Monde stop) but ... I was expecting a 16:30 finish (I am NOT a runner) but somehow managed a 14:53... I am definitely one of those who will get the biggest return on my dollar :-) ...and enjoyed every second of the day - actually more than just the day... women's pro winner Jessica Jacobs is a friend of a fellow BTer and my riding partner - I was fortunate to have dinner twice with them during the PCB stay. AND I got to share in the celebration of my favorite BTer's birthday! I was priviliged to see KathyG 3-4 times on the run. I saw Sue on the run. A lot of you folks recognized my jersey and slowed down long enough to holler at me, and get me out of the foggy daze I was likely in at the time, for which I thank you. I was the guy who asked the score at the LSU TV and when they told me 3-0 (Alabama) I said "great" and promptly missed out on the beer they were about to offer :-). I got whipped as I passed ever so slowly by the dominatrix. This journey has been amazing, and you folks are a big part of that. I have met a bunch of great, inspiring people. I appreciate every message, every email and every conversation this past year. I will be supporting a number of BTers at IMAZ in a couple weeks and signing up for that one 2012 as part of the IronHeart Racing team (yes, once again, for me "racing" is a misnomer, but it sounds better than IronHeart "participating" team). It was great to see a number of the spouses on the course supporting even us slow folk. Kathy's husband was on the course AND at the finish when I crossed, and my race-day hero, Bar92, was there to make sure I didn't totally screw this up -- thank you, Briana! Thank you all!
