For those of you that understand this better than I do do you think that these changes could result in any major foot issues? I have 2 pairs of 14s and they are great to run in, comfortable and cause me no problems at all. I have a new pair of 15s that I have been trying to "wear in". I have worn them maybe half a dozen times but I always end up with sore feet when I wear them. Last time I had a slightly burning pain in the sole of my right foot and the toes on my left foot went numb. What do you think. Should I keep trying to wear them in for a bit longer or should i just give up and forget them and maybe move on to something else? I'll let Ben and Adrienne delve into the technical stuff. Have you tried the add one hour a day break in? Just wear the shoes around the house or whatever for one hour on day 1, then two hours on day 2 until you get to "all day." It's worth a try before you toss the shoes! Honestly if it's uncomfortable, return them. In most cases running shoes really shouldn't need to be broken in. Shoes change all the time, even within a specific brand model, even season to season. Which is unfortunate when you land on a pair that really works, especially in Aus where they are so expensive. But burning and numb are definitely not good and likely won't go away. Yeah, I'm mostly thinking how all that attempted detail will make it harder to tell if the shoe may work. |

The WWU open is in october, can't remember the date. It's right in your back yardOriginally posted by rrrunner I received an email for a 5k trail run on a local high school XC track in a couple weeks. I think it would be a fun experience so I'll probably do it. The following week is both the Santa Fe run (up 6 mi, down 6 mi) and the Denver Hot Chocolate (5k or 15k). Leaning toward Santa Fe on that one buuuuut I'd have to drive to Denver right after. OTOH, if I do the Hot Chocolate 5k it's an easier race after which I would have to get in a car and drive home The XC race sounds like it would be a lot of fun. There is a big high school XC invitational up here where they have an open race and I always thought it would be fun to relive my glory days. I was undefeated in my first year of high school XC before tearing my hamstring many, many years ago. I was never quite the same. I can handle being humbled by a race but I think this would be humiliation in my case. I'll have to look up last years DFL and see how I stack up. Saw a bumper sticker this morning, "The older you get, the better you were." Actually, I'll bet you're better now than you think. Thanks Mary for your confidence. I took that to a last minute, small trail 5k yesterday and took first OA. It was a great experience that I'll write up soon. Way to go! Congrats! |

It's been a crazy 2 weeks with/for Dad/me, as new issues have popped up and his health has declined some. It's too exhausting and long to go into details, but he got admitted to the hospital yesterday which is really where he needs to be right now to get some of his many issues cared for. Of the 3 day weekend, I did manage to have about 1.5 days of fun, spending time out back on my patio by the chiminea with my best friend Sat. night and miraculously getting to spend all day (a whole day!) Sunday outside, running then kayaking. Monday was spent in the hospital all day. Very sorry to hear your dad is having new issues. What a blessing that you got to enjoy nature this weekend. |

Yanti, Chris, and Judi are also available for references My name is Laura. I joined BT in 2005 and proceeded to phone in the training and participation of my next three mini and sprint triathlons over the next 5 years. But now...oh now, I've been bitten by the bug. I want to do this for real. Right now I'm swimming a lot, riding mostly to the farmer's market on my city bike, and power walking. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here! |

Welcome to the group! It will be awesome to have another active podmate! We have a Google+ community that we use on an irregular basis. Send your info to a returning Manatee (Janyne, Chris, Monica or Darren) and you will be added. We have a Bike Gallery as well. Post a picture of your racing steed and draw Chris' attention to it. He'll get you added. We have a Strava group. Let Chris or Janyne know and we can add you. We also have a TrainerRoad group that Darren manages for us: https://www.trainerroad.com/login?ReturnUrl=%2fteams%2f2477-manatees-of-mayhem Oh, we're on Twitter too... |

Ah haaaaa, is that Havasu? Yep. There's a series of Havasupai Falls: Havasu, Mooney, and Beaver. Not a young kid trip, so it's on our "wait for grandparents to visit" list. |
