i have actually chatted with her, she is real, and she does really try, although some of her posts are a bit.....ok...WAY over the top. She is actually quite nice, but sometimes common sense should dictate.
I honestly thought she was the most accomplished troll of all time, that's why I just keep out of her posts. I can't believe she can be real... Just caught up on the tour to learn Ryder is out, now I'm sad... Edited by GoFaster 2012-07-09 9:26 PM |

I honestly thought she was the most accomplished troll of all time, that's why I just keep out of her posts. I can't believe she can be real... Just caught up on the tour to learn Ryder is out, now I'm sad... Yeah, he crashed hard and finished that stage (I think Friday) but didn't start Saturday due to injury. I definitley understood he didn't have a great chance given the Giro but there are so few Canadian cyclists and he was keeping in the top 10-ish for the first week. Would have been nice to see a solid finish ... |

Felt good to be in the water. What's on tap for everyone's training? I did a 21km run this morning, trying to learn to better pace the hills. I used to really work the ups, die and recover on the downs. Now I work the downs and throttle back on the ups. I think it's more efficient. I came home relatively fresh with a 1h37ish 21km. I will probably do an OWS later today. I am on vacation up in the boonies north of Ottawa. Me, my dog and many many critters. |

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=449889&posts=4#M4301904 Yeah, it's official. This whole thing is a schtick. I would love to know who it is, because it is well done.
I actually raced "with" her in Vegas in April. NEver saw or met her, but looked up a photo afterwards. Sadly, I think she's real.... Not positive but I thought I read somewhere where she met Bryan. That aside, I got sucked into a thread she started about gearing. I thought I'd never get out. That doesn't normally bother me because I honestly want to help folks out if I can, but sometimes you get the feeling you're just being "played" with her posts. OK, in the spirit of accurate reporting sources with direct knowledge of this situation have confirmed this to NOT be the case. The Office of the Ombudsman has fully invvestigated and penalties may very well be forthcomng. Very true. I wonder how many degrees of separation until we get to Kevin Bacon.
Way off topic, but yesterday my daugther met Steve Tyler of Aerosmith. He was shopping in Montreal. She told me "you would like him. He's really, really skinny so could probably ride a bike fast". I have taught them well !! |

Highly unlikely, but je may have made the podium, which would make him a legend in Cdn cycling. As for next year, I know the TDF is the big prize but it will be tough for him to not go back and defend his Giro title. |

And like that, she's gone. Underground. Nobody's ever seen her since. She becomes a myth, a spook story that triathletes tell newbies in Triathlon Talk. "Don't prepare for OWS and GatorDeb will get you." But no one ever really believes.

I train fasted almost all the time, i only really notice a major issue around the 2 hour mark. I realistically think an hour to hour half should be max, but when i do eat or use nutrition during a race, it is like hyperboost. |

Pro 6191![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDRudedog55 - 2012-07-10 2:03 PM I train fasted almost all the time, i only really notice a major issue around the 2 hour mark. I realistically think an hour to hour half should be max, but when i do eat or use nutrition during a race, it is like hyperboost. My morning workouts are almost always fasted. In high school, I couldn't bring myself to eat before a 2 hour 5:30am swim practice, and the practice of not eating stuck with me. I will get a little more focused on race nutriton as race day approaches, but I was at about 50g/carb per hour on the bike, and maybe half of that on the run. I somewhat buy into the idea that fasted training makes your body efficient at using the energy stores it has, and can eliminate the dependence on sports nutrition - and the potential energy spikes and crashes that go along with it. I think the average triathlete overdoes the whole sports nutrition thing. Me? I just overdo the beer thing. |

They also rode easy pace almost all the time.Anybody notice Wiggins' comment about his weight loss and the need to essentially train your body to perform on less calories. Sort of sounds like the occasional training in a fasted state discussions. I remember that as well. Lots of salads & shakes. I think it also mentioned something like when those guys weren't riding, they didn't move much. They didn't walk anywhere. I'm pretty sure they weren't having a steak quesadilla, a basket of chips and two bowls of salsa for lunch like some people I know.

Was in pediatric emerg last night and saw a few kids with heat exhaustion and dehydration. The city is currently rotating the power grid because the power demand has been so high. I've got a ride and short transition run to get done this afternoon out in the heat. Prob 33C right now with humidex of high 30s. Kind of related to the discussion a few days ago about municie and races in the heat, but does anyone put temp limitations on what they will train in or do you guys just compensate by working out in early morning, bringing more hydration, etc and what do you do if you can't? Just HTFU and get the workout done? Ive seen Bryan's logs and he's been out a few times in 108F. Any personal temp training records? |

I think it was not even 80 yet. I flew out that day and landed in Phoenix to 108. Everything is relative I guess. lol I would train in just about anything, but, I think here in AZ we get a pretty quick introduction into the heat every summer and then it stays hot so our bodies have time to adjust to it. It is also a dry heat, which really does make a whole world of difference. I find with the humidity the breathing is just so much harder. I've started a lot of training runs for marathons before the sun comes up at 80 and finish with it over 100. I just slow the pace. I'll bike in just about anything but I do most my runs early. |

Expert 1260![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Norton Shores, MI | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDRan an EZ 7 this morning and 2000 yards in the pool at lunch. Really need to get back to swimming 3x week again. I kind of slacked off since the HIM. Besides shoulder and neck soreness feeling great from the race. The humidity in the midwest absolutely sucks! This past week I would go out at 6:00 am and it was like stepping in to a sauna even though it was only 70 degrees. It is just uncomfortable. The dry heat in the west is definitely easier to deal with I think. I do like to do occasional workouts in the heat as you never know what race day will bring so good to be prepared for that situation. |
