Just sayin' because I have nothing better to say.... Mmmmmm....What's better than hot wings and beer? Um, Hot wings, COLD beer, and good company??? Ah, you got me! Neither tastes the same when you're alone! The taste of all good food seems to be enhanced by good company. My niece is coming in from NY this weekend. We're making wings and fried turkey. And a baked potato bar. Good Golly, I need a bike ride badly. |

I got "the call" yesterday late morning. Mom said Grandma went peacefully... in her sleep... in her bed... in her room... at home with one of her daughters sitting beside her. Just how we all hoped. I am very sad I missed her by such a short time, but I know the woman lying in the bed wasn't who I really wanted to see. It makes her last instructions to " Remember me how I was, not how I am" not nearly as difficult. I also know she would slap me silly for crying over her. So it's time to smile and celebrate the phenomenal woman she was. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! As sad as losing your Grandma is, it is truly a blessing that she got to go out how she wanted: at home and with family by her side. If only we could all be so 'lucky'. {{{big hugs}}} And yes, remember her as she was, cherish the memories and she will truly live forever. |

The nerves have really begun to kick in. Interesting sidenote about the race: they already sent out notification that there will be a bomb-sniffing dog there as well as extra police presence. I, for one, am not worried. All runners will also be given black arm bands to wear in honor/memory of those injured or killed in Boston. that you are faster and stronger than you think you are and that you have worked hard to get yourself to the starting line. Remember that when any negativity surfaces. I may need to steal that for my sig line, and it may very well be my mantra on race day. Of all manatees, I think of you most often while running, Salty. I try to remember your recommendations on good form and I picture your avatar. The same can be said for swimming and Yanti and Skrat! |

So it's time to smile and celebrate the phenomenal woman she was. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Ah, so sorry to hear that. Glad you can focus on the celebration aspect! I think that is very important as death is one of the 100% guarantees in life. Thinking of you and your family today! x2 I have been praying for your family and glad to hear she passed peacefully and sad to hear that she's gone, all at once. Me, I'm still so (in a good way) overwhelmed by my dad's memorial, I can't quite talk about it yet. I also can't stop crying today. It's the first time I've really cried or let go since my dad died and frankly, it kind of sucks. And for once, just for once, I wish it wasn't bullshyte all day every day from everybody today, but nope, it's just another normal day at the Crazy Castle. No running water, no phone, but a lot of real &$%#! and on the business side of things too. I think I'm finally breaking down. Surprised it took this long. Also got a really nasty text from my neighbor (again) about my dogs. That's a whole 'nother issue, and too bad, it's HIS issue. I've looked really really carefully at my part in things, tried to look at things from his point of view, had very diplomatic discussions with other neighbors, and the conclusion is that most of his wife's in-laws have moved in with them into their tiny 2-bedroom home and he's going nuts. The other day he threw large rocks at our other neighbor's gate in the middle of the night because he claims their dog was barking too much (same claim about my dog). Nobody woke up over the dogs, but our entire block woke up to the sound of large rocks connecting with an iron-sheet gate at high speed. Yanti, my heart aches for you as I can empathize (at least with the loss and crying, not all the other issues) with you. Wishing you peace, serenity, and resolutions to the jerkball neighbor issue as well as with the house and Mutti. He sounds close to unhinged - he wouldn't try to hurt your dogs, would he? It sucks that you have to deal with a bunch of BS at the same time. I guess just control the things you can and let the rest go (ie your azzhole neighbor) Good advice really no matter what the issue is. And he is an azzhole, so I'll just let him be an azzhole. Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Beautiful day in Santa Fe!!! I did some re-con of the 5k route for tomorrow. Absolutely stunning course through the amazing landscape and architecture of Santa Fe. Hoping DS1 enjoys it too. After the 5k we are headed to a bike swap at the LBS to see if we can find a lighter MTB for DH (all the acronyms you'd think I work for the government or something), then the "Fast and Loud" guys are going to be at one of the casinos so we're going to meet them. Might fit in some spring/summer clothes shopping. Almost stopped at Dunkin on my way through Santa Fe this morning but I resisted... Happy Friday Everyone! |

Nobody cared. Nobody's watching you. If it makes you feel better to wear a towel, go ahead, but believe me, everybody is so focused on their own race you could probably do the hula naked in there and no one would notice. The volunteers are so focused on doing their jobs and getting everyone in and out of there quickly with all their gear with them or back in the bag. The spectators are so busy looking for "their" participant/s and cheering people on that they're not looking in the tent either (although most IMs they can't see in). A lot of the European IMs don't even have separate M/F change tents. Now we know the whole story... Are you saying that Yanti's transition time may have been affected? |

I couldn't do just coffee if i stopped Sometimes being in law enforcement it is difficult to stick to the legal issues when the law doesn't always match our personal beliefs. If I don't run myself ragged this evening reffing a high school playoff soccer game I will find a local race to do. We are once again into that season where we have a couple of choices each weekend for local 5k's and such. Panoply Arts and Music Festival is this weekend and might show up on one to the two days. Weather is good and the river beckons. A friend I haven't seen in a while called and said, "Let's go barge surfing." Might take him up on it. nuff musin' The yard and garden it will be this afternoon.
The weekend has potential. |
