The 20 minute test is in the books: http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/45317

I paced this pretty well.  I was a little skeptical of the 5 minute clearing session with this protocol.  I thought it would negatively effect me.  I think it really helped.  My legs were ready to rock for the 20 minutes.

FTP went up 8 watts since my last adjustment just a couple weeks ago and my weight has gone down 3 pounds since then.  Happy with that.

sweet bro, that is awesome.  I love all the 20min tests I see and the power curve is soooo smooth, then you see mine and it looks like i am having an aneurism as my power spikes and dips all over the place, lol!!!

great work!!

Haha.  I just figured you may not have the power smoothing activated.  You can do 3 or 5 second smoothing.  I think mine is set at 3 seconds right now.

TSimone - 2012-04-05 1:16 PM How do you all get back into training after illness (not injury)?  If you miss 3 or 4 days due to illness do you pick up where you are in your plan or do you do something different, like scale back some?

I've been dealing with this all winter - for some reason the warm winter has led to lots of illness, now my allegories are killing me - I usually pick up where i left off unless its a hard day.

A subject I currently have experience in!

I'm just coming off a cold (caught it early and it only lasted 3 days!). I'll spend the rest of the week just doing easy stuff - 1400m swim this evening, a cycle and 3mile run tomorrow with the option of making it 6 if I feel good and a longer run on Sunday. If I feel it all went ok I'll just carry on as if this week was a rest week, otherwise I'll use next week to build back up.

my allegories never really bother me, but this time of year my metaphors and parables really drive me crazy.

Love it.

For me it depends on why I was down and for how long.  A cold I am likely to get back at it.  Something that caused distress below the neck I tend to do some easy stuff until I am feeling pretty good and then I just pick up where I should be.  When it comes to allergies though I always train through that.  it's the only time they do not bother me

Fred D - 2012-04-05 7:23 PM Well, light to no training for me this long weekend, as I work tomorrow and then work all weekend as well. Try to get in some treadmill runs and hopefully an hour of power biking tomorrow afternoon. What's everyone doing for training this weekend.

How is your foot, Fred? Hope you will be able to work some training into your long weekend.

Plan here is to continue to do some light and moderate stuff...staying active and getting ready to get back to some higher volume workouts. Will probably get out on the bike tomorrow and Sunday and throw in some short runs as well.

I have been told I am birding Saturday and biking Sunday (I might even get to pedal the bike).  And I am going to do both with not a single complaint.   I might try and persuade Tina that she wants to swim Sat.  We'll see.

traveling to south Florida to visit Family, but just had a diversion and landing for an on-board medical emergency. Docs, nurses, crew, pilots and first responders all did a bang-up job, and hopefully the passenger will be ok. Refueling the plane now.

Not too heavy of a weekend for me - hour ocean swim tomorrow, 1:15 of speed work Saturday, and 2 hour easy ride on Sunday evening when we get home. Here is to a safe training weekend, everyone.

Yeah, the below the neck respiratory stuff is what gets me. Had a cold go to bronchitis back in January and it really whacked me. It took about two weeks after I was back to training to get my HR and effort to re-couple, so I was doing a lot of Z1/Z2 stuff by RPE during that time. HR was through the roof. Several weeks ago I caught a rotovirus that was decimating our school. Missed 4 days straight, but was then right back on the horse with no issues, except that I was about 4 pounds lighter, which was OK by me. While I would not reccomend it as a weight-loss plan, I have been able to keep those pounds off.

Yeah iPad and I have made a number of funky spelling and grammatical errors.

on the upside using my iPad and iPhone to post in the BT forums have helped me brush up on my rusty HTML skills.

Run focus continues for tomorrow and Saturday before traveling back home to NY.  I will reintroduce myself to my bike Sunday morning, with any luck it will be an outside ride! With any luck the shoulder will continue to improve and a trip to the pool is in my near future!

LOL.  I know the feeling.

I was going to go easy this weekend, but a friend wants to do Latigo Canyon, a local climb in the Santa Monica mountains.  9 miles and utterly gorgeous...  so I may just do that easy

Got an hour's bike ride this morning and a 6mile run this afternoon. This evening is a friend's dad's 70th birthday so will be a bit of a heavy night!

Tomorrow will be an easyish 3mile run and another mate's birthday. Should I actually be able to get out of bed on Sunday I'll have a 9mile run and about a 2000m swim! Thankfully Monday is Easter Monday and I have the day off work!!

Happy Friday! It's good Friday so our office is closed, I have a bunch of work to do, but that's feeling like an afternoon thing. About to get on the trainer for some intervals, then a swim a bit later and maybe a run too.... I'm feeling some 2/2 intervals on the bike today, that should be sufficiently miserable..... Lots of eating this weekend. Passover sedar tonight with my family and Easter dinner Sunday with my wife's family..... Happy training and happy holiday. I know rudy's racing, anyone else?

What's wrong with the shoulder?

About a month ago it started bothering me and I thought I had pulled it when the dog took off on the leash or over reached swimming. The doctor sent me to the ortho who diagnosed it as an impinged bursa with an aggravated rotators cuff.  He gave me a cortisone shot and prescribed PT along with an ice and advil routine.  It was doing better until last week I aggravated it again throwing a duffle bag over my shoulder.  Finally starting to get towards full range of motion but it is still an issue.

That does not sound fun Ken.  Hope it heals up completely soon.

Our office is open today.  My line of business is pretty funny.  Most of the work I do is for state and local government.  You'd think every state would be consistent on holiday's but nope.  I can follow corporate holidays but I choose to follow my state holidays so I am working.  So about half the folks I work with (who support other states) are off and half are working.  Just too confusing for my tired little brain.  Should be a light workday though so perhaps I can get out and either do a short run or at least put the bike back together.

Speaking of tired little brain, I appear to be still on central time, which is a bit surprising.  I can finally sleep in cause I have no real reason to wake up early but I am up between 3-4AM since coming home and unable to fall back asleep.  Frustrating, but hopefully tomorrow will be better
