THIS FRIDAY IS AWESOME!!!!
Soooo Coooooool!!!! Can't wait to "see" the bike! I'd ask about the manuscript but I wouldn't understand anyway Probably all doctorly and such. I'm confused just thinking about it. lol...the title is "Chronic carvedilol treatment partially reverses the right ventricular failure transcriptional profile in experimental pulmonary hypertension." If that helps at all. Well ... where are the pictures of the bike? CONGRATULATIONS WONDERMOOSE! I did actually understand every word of the title. Especially "the" and "in." |

I think I like it, but I have more playing around to do. I am trying not to directly compare the two, because I don't think that is fair. I really struggle with the lack of change in a lot of departments/companies when the reason is "because that is how we've always done it." I have actually been able to cut process time in half, yet the department has turned it down, because it is "change". How about you? |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Happy Monday Manatees! We had a great weekend in NM! DS1 and I had a great time at the 5k. RR to follow, once results are posted. Then we went MTB shopping for DH. I tried out a couple of TT bikes while we were there. The only way I could convince DH to buy the bike was to tell him that I will actively look for a new bike for me. Oh the horrors, right? After church (and grocery shopping) yesterday we went for an off-road ride, DH, DS1 and me. Had a great time and DH finally realized how much more fun it is to ride on a good bike. Me thinks he'll be getting lots of T.I.T.S. now . He's even looking forward to our next wine ride (August). Hope everyone else had an amazing weekend as well. Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED KansasMom - 2013-04-28 5:21 PM I have a cycling question that I will double post, so some of you may see it twice. Re: Hills Descending: I think I understand that I should lean my center of gravity forward a bit, crouching over the aerobars. I am not sure, however, where my legs should be -- one straight and the other up? Both in the mid position? Should I attempt to pedal on fast/steep downhills? Climbing: I'm not sure where my center of gravity should be, over the front wheel or more over the center of the bike/over the pedals, for more power. Is it better when climbing to be on the horns? or still on the aerobars? I also assume, perhaps incorrectly, that I should try to climb as far as I can while seated, and just stand, if I need to, to power over the top. I live in Flatland, so the only elevation I get is going over bridges. What I know is that I try to stay in the seat and low for as long as possible. And going down is with my feet pedaling until it makes no sense. Then after that my feet are even/level and my knees are in a bit. Not quite squeezing the tubes, but kinda tucked in a smidge. Again, lower is better for me, either the drops or on the aerobars. Oooo, one more thing. Safety trumps everything else, so if it is the highway, all bets are off on the way down. |

Hardtail? Details please. And what did you look at? Anything interesting? Did test riding ensue? DH got a new 29er. It's a hard tail, but I think he'll like not loosing power to the back strut. He was REALLY happy on it yesterday! DS1 and I (affectionately) refer to the saddle on DH's old MTB as "the couch" because it's huge and padded. Well DH is contemplating switching it over. I think he just needs to get of the saddle more on bumpy sections . I had a good time too. I'm still very novice at off-road but I'm getting more comfortable with the challenge of varying terrain and was quite excited when I stayed on the bike down a large sandy hill and through a dry arroyo (very deep sand). As for my "test drives". I didn't really ride either of them because they had no pedals but I sat on an adorable Roo that was black with pink accents and a sweet white Specialized. Both felt great. I'm thinking I'll go back to the same shop because they sell several brands, and get a fitting to see what models would be good for me. DH was talking electronic shifters and all the bells and whistles. We'll see. I might wait until the end of the season for a deal. |

Hands should be up on the grips/horns, not in the drops/aerobars. Keep as much momentum as you can going into a hill -- whether coming off a flat or a descent. As you hit the hill, move from aero to horns and climb as far as you can while seated. That may be OK for some, but not for others. I look at the amount of coding that I guess must have gone into this and I am floored. Reading some of the responses and it seems like every browser (or version for that matter) works differently. What happened to standards???? |

It looks nicer but I feels to me like usability was sacrificed for looks. I don't know if you log food or not, but it suffers there as well. I eat all day long, generally about 5 or 6 meals in a day. New version gives 4 options, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, snack. I try to front load my daily food intake and ease up after lunch, so time/meal matters to me. I'd like to create my own breakdowns. Not a back breaker, but it seems like a step backwards to me. |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED jmkizer - 2013-04-25 2:50 PM StaceyK - 2013-04-24 8:00 PM Ok so off season for me now. I have a couple of run events (wont call them races cause I will be happy to just finish) over winter but then probably a duathlon in early October and my first Tri in November. My question is that I have a training plan for my run and swim but what do I do on the bike? I am fairly average on the bike, I have managed to increase my average speed to about 20km/h (12mile) so still fairly slow. My plan until the end of August is 1 swim, 2 rides and 3 runs a week. Then i will drop the run back to 2 and pick up an extra swim. My main races for next season are a HM in August, the swim leg of an HIM in early November, and an Oly early in 2014. Because of life I can only fit in about an hour on week days and a couple of hours on the weekends. Also because of lighting and road conditions my week day sessions will need to be inside on the trainer, I have a Kurt Kinetic road machine. If you are riding twice a week, can you make one of them outdoors on the weekend? If so, I'd make that a longer ride if possible and then include intervals of some sort on the trainer ride. This could be via a video/computer workout (sufferfest, trainer road) or just "sprint during commercials" or "climb during commercials" sort of workout. Stacey, I wanted to follow up on this and add that another thing to consider is run/bike frequency. Yesterday my workout was a short ride and longer run and earlier in the week I had a longer ride and a short run. In both cases, I think that a lot of the intent was to add frequency. So... you could do a longer ride on a weekend and then run for 10 minutes afterwards or ride for 20 minutes before a weekend run. This works best if you don't have to be all bundled up with layers of clothing for your outdoor workouts. |
