Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The only way to get better at climbing is to climb. I climbed this morning. This is Lake Desolation (fitting for the name) it's a CAT 2 hill...and it shows when you get to the top. This morning was the first time I was able to complete it without having to stop and rest part way up. I've tried 2 other times and got it handed to me...not today! Lap 2 was from the base to the lake. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/184007381 (securedownload (1).jpg) Attachments ---------------- securedownload (1).jpg (40KB - 14 downloads) |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's a no joke climb that's for sure. When you see people outside they just look at you like you're retarded. And of course you are to do a hill like that! lol
First OWS last night since september...wow is it so much different than a pool! |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weather prediction for my half ironman distance race this weekend: "The weather forecast has changed for the worst. Right now the winds are howling, it is pouring and about 55 degrees. They are calling for rain all weekend, but it will be in the mid to upper 60's so please be prepared for these conditions. These can be as challenging as heat and humidity. We will be update in the final email you will receive along with official water temp as well as any other pertinent information Friday Night. Currently the H20 is 65 and falling due to the east winds. Winds between 20-30 mph WNW on Sunday." Not to mention there is also a small craft advisory on Lake Erie with waves between 4-8 feet. Should be an interesting one! |

Should be an interesting one! That race is notorious for bad weather the days leading up to it but not actually on race day. I have done it the past 3 years(the sprint not the half) and 2 of the years they had tornados that ripped through the course and we had to jump over trees on the run course and the bouys for the swim floated all the way to Canada! Sounds like this year should be a little more calm than that but prepare for a rough bike as there is not much cover from the wind there. Good Luck! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have had a couple of requests for updates on how I'm doing so here goes...The ankle/shin is slowly getting better. Still some pain when I put my full weight on it but measurably better than four weeks ago. I ditched the air cast and crushes and will go back to see the Doc probably next week. I'm guessing another two to three weeks before I'm back on the bike. It's a beautiful day in Minneapolis today and the outside pool is open, I couldn't resist so went for my first swim in a month. Wow it was great to be doing something again. I've been living vicariously through your logs and posts, it's been fun watching everyone progress over the last month. Only a little more than a month of hard training left, everybody looks like they are doing great, keep up the good work. Thanks for all the support! |

Man you are a climbing machine, You are going to rock at LP. I finished my 3rd century ride, (Rochester to Syracuse) I'm glad I have all these family functions in Syracuse to have to go to. Now If I could find some hills to climb along the way, it would make me feel that more comfortable. Will be doing the long run tomorrow. |

What did everyone else do? I ran for two hours, took a 15 minute transition and then rode for 80 minutes. That was the easy part. After that I took the kids to the outdoor pool for four hours and then cooked cheeseburgers over the grill. Between the mild sunburn, the "Papa is a motorboat" games with a 3 1/2 year old and standing over the heat of a grill...I'm totally wiped out. Tomorrow morning, I'm riding Tour de Cure. It is a fully supported group ride of 107 miles. I plan a 45 minute brick run immediately after if time allows. Cornick, nice work today. You earned two burgers had you been at my house tonight. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello all.... I just had a break through today on a timed course with the wind against me. I also put up some record power numbers for myself on hillz.Had a break through on my t1000 for the swim in the open water. Makes me so happy all this training has been paying off!
After today I realize I'm switching my water set up for LP. I was running a profile design between the bars (50 oz) and 2 bottles down my cage. I'm moving to the speedfill a2 between my bars (only 22 oz). I can tell the weight and aero difference big time. I think I will continue to train with the heavier bottle and then when race time comes I will feel like I lost a few pounds. How did everybody else do this wknd? |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Per the suggestion of some other BT'ers i went down to south central ohio for some hill training to ride a course called "relentless hills". great ride, except someone must not have ridden the course for a while since one of the roads was no longer paved... got lost a few times as well and turned a 60 mile 4000 ft climbing ride into a 75 mile 5000ft climbing ride. feeling better about hills now! |
