I personally don't wear them because of the bathroom issue before the race, but my guess it's a little easier for a guy. |

The last workout I've done was last Tuesday and I didn't even make it out of bed for 3 days. Yesterday was the first time I got dressed (well, changed pajamas anyway) and made it downstairs all weekend. Missed my 10 mile endurance run (as well as many other workouts), lost my voice, lost 5 lbs, missed the super bowl party.........but at least the Packers won!!!! LOL, just picked up my Zicam, and some multivitiamins that are supposed to boost my immune system. You probably need to get some extra sleep too. Your Disney experience took a toll on your body. |

I was certainly down and out for a week. And I am now having a hard time getting motivated again with 2 feet of snow around me everywhere since I was sick. |

Elite 4108 Calgary,AB,Canada | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Had a good swim last night with our team. But let me tell you, we did the fist drill with the finger-tip drag incorporated as well. So really we dragged our fists. My lord, breathing to my weak side doing that I felt like I was going to drown. We got into some 100m sprints as well. Sure makes it hard when the you are out of the pool and the adrenaline is pumping and its 10pm. I am old. |

Elite 3395 Raleigh | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Today is a rest day! Yesterday was 2000 yds swim and then a group run with strength stations. After the swimming I had nothing in my arms. My pull-up (I did one) stunk, and my planks were the pits. Glad for a recovery day! |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Since these two weeks were set up to give me maximum recovery before kicking off REV3 training, I have been a total lazy a$$. I really haven't seriously swam in three weeks, been off my bike for two and relied on very short Z1 runs and hiking to keep some level of fitness. I've had a great time, but my Tuesday Master's class next week will be a terror. We fly home on Thursday arriving in Madison on Friday. Two full days to go...time to make the most of it. The highlight will be seeing Cooper. From what I can tell, he's been spoiled rotten. |

What should be pace be when I swim 2300 at an "Easy Pace"? are you swimming the 2300 straight? or broken up? i would guess around 2:15/100 would be 'easy'. |

What should be pace be when I swim 2300 at an "Easy Pace"? Oh, what is a decent 100 time when swimming a sprint tri? I think of an easy pace as one that I can keep going for a long time without really thinking about it. If you are not out of breath and your muscles are not getting overly fatigued, you are probably in the right place. Are you breathing hard when you are pushing pace? Hard to say what a decent 100 time is, depends on the person really. Not sure if you are talking yards or meters but a good time for one individual might be 2:00 per while a fish might be more like 1:10 per. You should probably benchmark your self by doing a timed distance now and then gauging your improvement later by repeating the test. If you are putting a time in for seeding in a pool swim race, you should put yourself in a bit faster than you think you can swim (10-15 sec per??). Often, people don't know how fast they swim and tend to be slower than they state. |

Master 2621 Almaden Valley, San Jose, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Swam 2750 yesterday - beautiful day, easy swim. Today I'm going to.....drum roll, please....... RUN. At least 1 mile, up to 3 if it feels okay. Little nervous, because it still hurts a bit. It's much better though, and I've followed the doc's orders perfectly - no running at all for 2 weeks. Crossing my fingers. Tomorrow afternoon I leave for my annual girls' ski trip. Can't wait, although some snow would be nice, I've got to say. |

For me I pretty much have one speed when it comes to swimming 2000+ meters. For shorter distances it's easier to regulate I think, but even then it took me some time to get variable speeds at any distance. |

Chatham Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Back to swimming tonight after a 2 weeks hiatus on almost everything. Its going to be a horrible swim I am sure of it. But I will be happy by the end of it. Last time I took off two weeks it was BAD. I am supprised how fast it slips. I really need to pick up on the motivation and get back in the swing of things. The shift work and long hours are supposed to end this week. So my three weeks of H E double hockey sticks at work should start to get back into control next week. 40-60 hours of overtime a week cuts into work out time drastically. I managed to squeeze in 40 mins last night on the trainer and did some intervals to make use of my time on it. |

Coach said to cut all workouts in half and stay aerobic for the next 3-5 days so I skippped the Masters swim and did 1000 yds on my own. It fely great to be moving but man I'm pooped. Off to take a nap now. Linda, hope your run goes well and is pain free. |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Just got back from my workout. Easy run :30, then some V02 bursts at the end. Never done that on the treadmill before, and I don't run on the TM that often. Super scary running 5:45 pace on the treadmill, I was worried one mis-step and I was going to shoot off the back into the treadmill behind me. |

Master 2501 | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed kt65 - 2011-02-08 2:18 PM I woke up, saw that Trevor had done 1000m sprints in the pool last night and thought, wow, he is an animal! Hope he had a good snack last night! Be still my beating heart... I love how many MG peeps are getting their swim on!!!!!!!! Me, I had a good swim this morning (3300) and then a "mostly" track workout/tempo run (most of said workout involved running to/from the track, but I was there for a couple of miles to help me dial in pace). KIM, Who the F cares if you can dive in or do a flip turn?? Get thee to the swim meet, start from a push, do your open turns, and HAVE FUN!!! Smile before and after (I'd say during but I'd rather know for sure you are blowing out all of your air when your face is in the water and taking in good air when your face is out). Go for it!! And then come back and tell us all how much fun it was, OK?! And I like George's definition of an easy swim... One where you can just go and go and go. I find that, for me, the better swim shape I'm in, the more speeds I have. Crummy shape: I have 1.5 to 2 (easyish and hard [HARD does not equal fast]). So-so shape: 3 (easy, moderate, hard [HARD still not equal to fast]). Really good shape: 6-8 speeds, able to dial in pace very nicely, can do a set of 100's descending and make each one an itty bit faster; hard feels/seems faster, or at least times equal to RPE in my water-logged brain. I'm currently in so-so shape mode, and am anxious to get into better/good swimming shape soon. Alas, like all things in triathlon, this takes time... |
