Tracy - I like Beauty and the Beast.

I now have to go catch up on all the events of the weekend...by just a few posts I read everyone was awesome.
Keeping up with this group is a full time job.

gadgetlaw - 2009-06-09 1:02 PM I am trying to catch up after a crazy busy weekend.  All I can say is we have a group of awesome racers!!  Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend and kicked but!  I can finally say that I am racing this weekend.  A Sprint which was my first ever when I did it last year!  I am hoping to better my time, but what with being sick, I will be okay if I don't!  I have my new wheels on my bike, with a brand new cassette (thanks for the advice Steve), and I am ready to go!!  Keep up the good work everyone!

Karen

So what are your goals for this race then? Being your first of the year, and a repeat of your first ever tri? I saw last year you did it in 1:46:36.....

Checking in as it has been a while.  Did the Camp Pendleton Mud Run this weekend and had a blast.  We had almost 50 firefighters from my department go down and run.  Most of which had never run a race before!!

Tracy - AWESOME that you are doing B2B.  I like Long and Gone- go Suzy! It helps to have support during training!!

Update on me, I stopped logging and doing anything structured.  It is my relax phase before the official training plan starts for B2B.  I get out just to enjoy without stressing over minutes, miles or intensity.  I am however HEALED!!

Everyone seems to be doing great!  I can't keep up with all the posts but I make an effort to try.

Holly, injuries heal! They just suck.

Chet

The fact that you are healed is the best news I have read on this forum all day!  So happy for you.   I think keeping things fun and flexible until you officially start training is a great idea.  I am having so much fun varying my workouts.  I haven't run so little in so long and I kind of like it.  I am beginning to realize how hard running is in your body and how more cross training keeps it light.

Great news that you are healed.  I think the laid back approach works for the off-season, I am going to see if I can layoff a little over the holidays...

What is the brand of the rear drink holder? Does it hang very low?  I have little clearance.  I am looking for one, but want the bottles to be clipped in so they don't fall out.  I saw a Bontrager tonight that looked pretty good.

Whats up?  Been sitting here for the last hour reading all your posts.  I am traveling a couple days this week and am in an atlanta hotel room with a taper buzz (feeling ok about not training and having a few drinks).  I did run a couple miles this afternoon though, so I would feel better about myself.

I have felt unusually tired the last couple of days, so I wanted to taked it easy this week and get some rest for the race this weekend.

Getting ready to read those race reports.  Congrats to all you guys who raced this past weekend.

As I understand it, feeling tired during taper is quite common. You are looking to peak at the race. Good luck!

Hey Chet,  Glad to hear you are healed.  My husband did that Mud Run before we left CA.  I was pregnant with my second, so my oldest was just a year.  My son was terrified when a man covered in gross mud (head to toe) came up to him after the race...he didn't recognize it was Daddy.  I took him quite a while to talk to Daddy that day - he did not like the mud!  My husband and I wanted to do the Muddy Buddy in Atlanta this year....but it falls on the day of my daughters first ballet recital.  So, hopefully next year.  Those are fun races!

Suzy,

I was poking around the IM Training Forum and someone posted a question about difficulties with Infinit and gels on the bike....so I thought of you.  Some good alternatives were suggested. Here is the link to the discussion.

Team Shi - got my 5k in this morning.  My now PR time was 34:05.  Sorry so slow, still some short walk breaks going on, but I did manage to run the first mile and half with out slowing down before going to a run/walk sequence.  Even so, I am pretty happy with it, as back at the beginning of April, I couldn't run a full mile and was lucky to get 2 miles in 30 minutes!  I am the tortoise -oh cucoo chooo... (think Beatles - I am the Walrus...)  Next goal for 5k is under 30min!  Hopefully I can get there by the end of July!  BTW did I mention it was 81F with 100% humidity at 5:15 this morning -ugh, summer is here in DFW despite the calendar...

I'll be there, leaving early tomorrow morning.

The pool, where to start.  I think our contractor is in jail for a couple of DUI's, the concrete guy is out of town for who knows how long.....   I am pretty close to getting a lawyer, we will just put it that way.

But no pool yet.  Well I have it in my garage, but the hole it goes in needs a concrete slab under it and moved into place and plummed and wired and stuff.  Perhaps next year.  At least the ice is off the lakes now.

Boise 70.3 will be the biggest race I have ever been in, 1500 folks signed up and like 35 Bters.

Thanks Tracy.  Interesting read.  I was talking to Steve (coach, not mentor!)and the first thing he suggested is getting another fluid source on the bike, mainly water.   To do it, I am going to need to get a rear mount.  He also suggested more experimentation which I have had limited success with for marathons.  His big thing is adding a protein source somehow. Ugh.

What did you use for your HIM?  What about the rest of the gang?  I feel like  I can get through an Oly on pretty limited fuel, but know that won't be possible for longer distances.
