Steve follow up:  Any additional thoughts on the charity that we would like to use?  Virtual event in his honor?  We could set up something in Racery (http://racery.com/) and ask for donations (free race, ask for donations or paid race to raise money for our cause.)

Manate bizness:  New thread coming soon!

Goooo racers!

IM Maastrich is likely to be my next IM, so I'll need details, Yanti!

I think you'd love it (we'll see what happens after ). The bike course is crazy, but crazy fun. Same as any other IM, I'd think: if you're prepared for it, this seems like a really good race. Not much less climbing than Nice, though, and it's not big swooping climbs and descents but kinda zigzaggy blind-corner ones. And 8km or so on cobbles. And it's long And the run is hilly, too.

That said, everyone seems super friendly AND laid back (Euro races are not usually laid-back!) and it's very well organized. Extremely little at the expo, though, so bring all your own stuff.

I'm aiming for doing swim and 1 loop of the bike (92km). Anything after that is a bonus. We'll see how I feel after the first bike loop.

I'm completely unprepared for this race (so, just like every other race, ho-hum) but the course is a bit-LOT tougher.

I also just had a friend pass away in very difficult circumstances and I'm finding it hard to do or care about much right now. But at the same time, I'm deeply grateful for every breath, every day, every moment.

So with that celebratory attitude ...

GO DAZZERS!!!

GO MARKUS!!!

GO ME!!!

GO SALTY!!!

Awesome stuff!!! Looking forward to stalking Darren. Have fun racers!

For my long run tomorrow I am doing a training run for a 50k race that I'm not going to run   I just need a change of scenery and the chance to run with other people!

Enjoy your non-training run run with strange people in a strange place!

GOOOOOOO racing manatees, rock your races!  Yanti, I have friends doing Maastrich this weekend, cool!  I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. (((hugs)))

TJ - good luck with your running adventure, too!  Wow.

Janyne, great job on the Darren waypoints and info for Steve.  You rock!

Okay, here it is....proof of bling! Will try to post more pics in the race report. Fortunately there are no pictures of my "one shoe off, one shoe on" version of the "flying dismount" in T2.

OMG this pic is way too big--but I don't know how to resize it--sorry!

Well done Karen, hopefully I will get to read your race report soon.

Go racers and good luck Darren.

Yanti I am so sorry about your friend. The total disregard that the Indonesian Government has for human life and their own laws continues to amaze (not in a good way) me. More and more of my friends will no longer travel there as their way of protest, the sad thing about that is that it affects the local people more than it affects the Government. I pray that somehow God will bring peace and healing to all of those affected by this weeks events.

The running aspect of an Ironman triathlon is a marathon. Most people take on a marathon as a single event and the training for this uses up a lot of their time. Here are some tips for the run.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
