Unfortunately this is an issue with Garmin. Sometimes mine works the first try for weeks and then it will hang for no reason. You could try unplugging the watch and plugging it back in. I use the 305 but never change it from running. When I use it in spin class it shows up as a run. In the old version I was able to select the workout under the sport I wanted. Unfortunately, not in this version. I'm thinking that if we have both kinds of functionality in the next version of the training logs, bulk upload and individual uploads, we'll include sport overrides in the individual version. That sounds like a plan. I know that for indoor training like spin classes I want different information than when I am outside on the bike. Outside I want to know my speed, cadence, etc. Inside I want my heart rate and time more than anything else. I use Other instead of Running but I suspect the logic is the same. You can setup the 305 with different screens so you have one screen that gives you your outside info while another gives you the spin class info. You just hit the up or down arrow on the side to scroll between them. Of course you can set up the 310 to do that. I just want to understand what the limitations of this uploader is before I try to make things up. The fact of the matter is that I really don't want to have to do that. I have two screens that I toggle through outside. I don't want three screens when I'm outside in traffic. At any rate, I am awaiting an answer to some questions I asked in another thread before proceeding.

Problem #1 solved (for the time being)
Problem #2 - No HR data was transferred. Curiouser and curiouser!?!? |

Like many others I had to hit the forums to notice the changes and update my plug-in. I use the Garmin 310. Currently I have it set for multiple bikes (Tri, Road, Mountain) the run function, and "other" is typically usd for swimming. I admit I have not been swimming this winter yet, but if I am set the Garmin to "other" will it dump the data into a swim workout when I upload? |

Have used new function with success already, so confused. Will give it a try with today's workout and see if it pushes yesterdays into the log? Thanks!! ETA: When I try to upload yesterday's workout again... yesterday's doesn't appear but it is adding multiple copies of the previous two days (like two additional copies), which I am then manually deleting. Two issues I've seen: Garmin Edge 500, Cadence is uploaded and I see it on the weeklong Training Log, but when I click on that day, the cadence is not in the cadence field. Minimum Heart Rate is always 0. (Before this change, it would get a good value.)

Sure it's great for bulk uploading but I liked the individual uploads. I now have to remember to go back and make sure the upload worked, add equipment to it, etc. I understand adding new functionality, but removing old is not appreciated here. Sorry. On a positive note this is by far the best workout tracking site for triathletes by far. |
