Suzy- Thank you for the book suggestion. I found a used copy of  "Running Within" on my trip to Portland, and it is exactly what I have been searching for. I'm at a point where I think the biggest thing holding me back is the mental aspect. Great book so far!

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement on the 50 miler, Linda! I'm going to go for it! Really marathon training and ultra training is pretty much the same, only you add another longish run the day after your weekend long run.

X2 on the Suzy thank you. I bought this book at Suzy's recommendation the week before my marathon and it really reinforced the power of thinking positively and staying mentally tough throughout. Visualization and affirmations were the big chapters for me. Once I had done the training, all that was left was to get to the same place mentally. This book helped a lot!

I don't do the amount of early/late offroad running that steve does.  I found that most paved trails in my area are pretty well lit, so I end up turning it on and off the whole time.

We should be good to go in the other group, and like I always say at the start of these, please be sure to make the newbie's feel welcome (YOU ALWAYS TO).... But what happens sometimes in we get so in touch w/ the people we already know, and forget about the newbies!

Speaking of Books.... Has anyone read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_a_Runner

I am also a HUGE FAN of Running w/ the Buffalo's!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Running_with_the_Buffaloes

I hear that. I need a player roster to keep things in perspective.
