Comments:

At the start of the race for me the leader had 131 mile and DFL was at 25 miles. My flight was delayed so I did not get there on the day before the first race but I got there on day 2 of the races.

Well first lap I was in the lead pack but decided to let them go. I finish my first marathon in about 7:30 hours. I was happy because at this point there was no way I could be last anymore. I was keeping it slow so I could go for a long time. I felt my pace was perfect for what I was doing. It was fairly constant and really did not drop much through out the day. When I would stop I stopped for about 15 minutes at a time. I would use the stick to work on my muscles. My first stop was my best one. I forgot to put on my calf conpression socks so I stopped and put them on. My calf was sore and tight from crapping up several times at night due to the cold. I had no calf problems once I put the compression sock things on.

I figured I had about 8 hours to play with at the pace I was going. I tried to drink and eat about every 3 loops or 1 mile. I keep the amount small since I could have plenty to eat and drink.

I got first blisters around mile 14 and the ones that really killed me I got around mile 41. If I did not get those last blisters I think I could gone 100k easy. My legs were not tired at all through the race.

I tried to sleep some after midnight and I laid down from 12 - 2 but I did not sleep at all. I when I went back on the course I started to feel sick alot. The pain from the blisters were getting pretty bad even though they were popped. My left foot did not have blisters on it but was all torn up as the doc said. I got to the point where I would do a mile or 2 and sit for 30 minutes. I was in alot of pain but I really wanted to get the 50 miles in. Once I got the 50 I wanted to get to 52.4. After that my next goal was 62 and I knew I would not get there since I was moving so slowly and I could not take that pain for 6 hours.

Once I got done with 52.5 miles even with 2 hours left in the race I decided to just quite and try to get sleep. I was worried about driving back to the airport.
What would you do differently?:

I would have them pretape my feet. I heard that would have taken care alot of my blister problems I had.
Post race
Warm down:

I tried to sleep some and then I packed up my bed and gear.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

BListers they hurt so bad.

Event comments:

It was a great race. Best of the year and maybe best I ever done. Race officals are great and the other racers are great. it might be a small .3 mile track but you really got to know the people. The after party had like 3 12 foot subs and lot more food. It really had everything I wanted in a race.

Performance: Good
I stay most in the 120s for the first several hours. I would not let my HR get above 150 mark. I tried to keep it in the 130s for most of the race.
Course: .5 km dirt track. That went around the property the race is on. You rotate directions ever 2 hours. Aid station is very well stocked and was either start or end of every loop. They had a huge varity of food and drink at the end station

Impressive and congrats!!! Do you have any stats or splits? I'm just curious like what was your HR and pace every 10 or whatever # of miles was?

Great job out there.

Takes a lot of mental and physical effort to complete one of these darn things.

IM is going to seem a lot shorter
