Overcast
Total Time = 8h 00m
Overall Rank = 356/1621
Age Group = 30-35
Age Group Rank = 35/133
Pre-race routine:

Got up, drank some coffee and loaded up the stroller and drove to the race. Met up with some people and chatted before race time.
Event warmup:

not much- just went to pee behind a dumpster and very little stretching
Run
  • 46m 27s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

I decided to do this race last minute, knowing I would have to push the stroller, but it was a good way to see some friends and have a nice workout. little did I know I would come to kick ass!
I started toward the back because I had the stroller, and at the start I really had a hard time getting through the crowd with the stroller-it was walls of people and I could not be very nimble, so I did the best I could and still had a good pace at the 1 mile mark. then I started laying down the hammer. I was screaming past people at this point and managed a 6:59 mile for mile 2- that's when I knew I had a chance to PR- so I went pedal to the medal and enjoyed the last 2 miles of mostly descent (my son was having a great time too racing with daddy)
What would you do differently?:

1. lose some weight
2. continue to build
3. try it without a stroller and 3 yr old!
Post race
Warm down:

met up with the BT and NAMC gang- then went to j Christophers for breakfast and destroyed an omelette.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

stroller- although I dont think it made a big difference- maybe 30 seconds? It was nice in the downhils, but It has a slight alignment issue pulling it to the right, so correcting it took extra energy, as well as slowing down the extra weight.

Event comments:

Great fast race course and very organized. I would reccomend it.

Dude...they should give you bonus time for doing what you did with the stroller!  Nice job today - you rocked it.  I thought about you going up the hill between miles 3 and 4, but you obviously didn't need any "thoughts."

Super race!

Good job Yukon! I think you might have gotten an advantage with the extra weight going downhill.

I looked for all of the BT gang but never found you. You must have not been hanging out near the porto-potties like Nat me. ; )

Awesome race, especially with the stroller - you kicked !

I heard some distant screaming up here in Wilmington. I think it was the sound of a Georgia a$$ kicking... followed by the faint squeal of stroller wheels leaving the scene. Good job & funny report. I can only imagine what people were thinking as you streaked by them with the out of alignment smokin' stroller)

I think you should do the stroller thing at GCHIM.

Seriously, the faster I get, the faster you get.  Good for you, bad for me.

GREAT PR!

My jaw nearly hit the ground when I saw you turn that corner to the finish. First and most obvious was the time on the clock, second, it looked like you could have kept running and running. Great job.

How many people do you think you either demoralized or inspired during that race? I can tell you, it's more than you probably think.

Hee hee- lots of people said I was making them look bad! It was actually quite motivating, and my son was all for going FAST!

I can say you both inspired me and demoralized me! HAHA. Seriously, when I saw you in front of me with that stroller all I could think about was catching you! And it took me 5.5 miles to do it! You had a great race. Congrats on the PR and the ego boost You rocked it for sure.

dood you were like an Escalade doing 90 down 400.  Smokin fast.

I had the same issue with the clock and garmin time.  It has me nearly 20s off.  I went with the faster time!

It was great meeting you and the breakfast suggestion was awesome.  Now, when it comes to the stroller.  I just couldn't believe I was being passed by a guy pushing a stroller and I thought I was having an awesome race.

There was no way, I was catching this guy either because I surely tryed just for a little bit.

Congrats on the PR.
