Overcast
Total Time = 1h 07m 12s
Overall Rank = 33/210
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 4/20
Pre-race routine:

Got up waaaay early (but had to be w/ 6:30 race), but with enough time to get stuff done.. Got there started to setup transition and go through the other motions. Chatted with VAMDDCBTTCers. No dancing for me.. I am not cool enough.
Event warmup:

Don't you mean cool down? Since I was standing in my tri gear for 20 minutes in 46 degree weather?
Swim
  • 04m 37s
  • 250 meters
  • 01m 51s / 100 meters
Comments:

Great swim for me.. was concerned my 82 placing put me way too high. But I was wrong.. had some feet for a while.. passed 2 or 3 including one guy walking after 100M on a 250M swim starting in the top 40 people.. dummy. Run Out of pool to transition involved passing 4 more people.. that time counts.. RUN PEOPLE
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Good T1, first time getting into shoes on bike.. forgot to body glide shoes so a little time.. wasted about 15 seconds on watch.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to put on watch with cold hands, practice shoes with wet cold feet.
Bike
  • 34m 7s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 21.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride.. I love the bike and covet a tri bike with sweet wheels.. one day. Pushed it, passed a bunch, passed by one guy he pulled a 23+ pace. One fool was blocking on the long downhill home.. yelled three times on your left before he moved.. I wasn't breaking, trust me I am aggressive on the bike ;) Caught shelly w/ .5 mile to go.. yay.. ended up 1st AG so really happy
What would you do differently?:

Nothing .. but would have liked 22mph :)
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

Good T2, but surface hurt.. getting on shoes with numb feet.. tough.. first time no socks.. saves time
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 25m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run.. pushed it, knee felt good for the most part (last .5 mile). Left T2 with Shelly123, but she quickly sped away.. tried to stay with her, but to no avail.. then yelled "prance on brotha" to 3558 as he passed me, and "run boy run" to weds19 chasing down 3558.. all within a minute or 3 after leaving transition.. I am obsessed with getting my run paces around 7 so this is my fastest 5k but my journey is just beginning. Pushed it in the sixes for the last 1/2 mile.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder.. didn't dry heave like 3558.. so I have more ;)
Post race
Warm down:

Finished race.. surprised when not many people at the finish except for BTers.. that changed in about 20-20 minutes. Chilled with BTers collecting hardware.. got some hammer gels for 4th (or winning raffle.. its my world I can dream) .. then got some sweet sweet IHOP w/ 3558, Shelly and Z

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

Really loved this race.. best race ever for me .. and the swag is really nice

Great race BB.. You are quite the force to be reckoned with on the bike - and will be some day on the run too. Very proud of ya

And the tire leeeevers didn't hold you back, did they?

Hey Scott,

Congratulations on a great race!  That was an awesome bike split.  You get Hammer Gel for 4th place?  Wow, that's great.

dude, such a great race.  once you are back to 100% on the run you won't be smelling the podium, you'll be on it, and can add to our online trophy case.  awesome job.

Nice race Slakey Slakerton.  Take care of those knees and you'll get there.  You know that you can run that fast, it's just a matter of continuing to run that fast.

Nice race - great job on the super-fast 5K! And yeah, I've been told by several friends that it's not a good race unless you hurl (though not of the bonking variety) - not sure how much I subscribe to that theory

Next time I expect some dry heaving!  By the way if you train for a Mary you'll be running 7 min miles for a 5k by the time you finish the Mary.
